Anyone think it won't be offered to DVisa at all? Maybe right to the general public, being the DVisa special has been extended? I know there is really no way to tell ahead of time, but really there hasn't been too many solid rumors of DVisa offer, just FD in general.

Anyway, I too made sure to make no plans for tomorrow, just in case! :cool1:

I enjoy my dessert, most of the time I get it to go and save it for later! :)

We would always get it since it was offered....but a lot of times we'd only be able to eat half of it. If they stopped offering it, we'd just get one and all share it LOL That's how we do appetizers, and there are 7 of us....so it's usually just the right portion to share an appetizer or dessert...just a bite or two :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for DVisa offer tomorrow. . .however, I work at an elementary school in Texas, and we are doing the state testing tomorrow. I have to help, so I won't be able to call until early afternoon! Hope I can get what my friend and I want!

It will sure be nice to know for sure if we are going and the price! Once it is booked, I don't have to worry about anything else (except buying MNSSHP tickets and saving more spending money!!!!)

Come on FD:woohoo:

I could do without dessert. I just don't feel it is worth the money anymore without it. You get one CS meal and drink (no dessert), one TS entree and drink (no deseert) and a snack. I can easily buy that for not mucjh more than $41.99. I am not a most expensive thing on the nmenu type of person. It doesn't bother me to just buy my meals outright, so that is what I would do. Except for with free dining. That certainly makes it worth it. But this will likely be our only free dining trip, if it even happens this year.

I am hoping to downgrade to POP as well........:wizard:

But I have read that it sells out fast so I have chosen the alternate resort (just in case).

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to say anything to upset all those clutching their Disney Visas in anticipation. :duck::duck::duck:

I have been waiting for months and then yesterday I got a 40% off pin. It works out better for us since we are staying at BLT WITH 2 adults and 1 child and 1 2yo. It was a relief and I hope everyone gets to feel that on thursday or monday. I will still be checking multiply times a day for other family members!

This is a little off subject but wondering if anyone has any personal experience..providing that the free dining does come out and my sisters family gets in on it of course....they're daughter will be turning 1 in Disney. She is an eater!! So Im wondering if anyone has an experience with taking a child who doesnt fit the dining plan (I think you have to be 3 or older) do you just buy an additional dinner?

When we went in sept 2007 we had our 18 month old daughter with us. We asked about adding her and paying the addititional cost for the dining plan for her. We decided not to add the plan. All children under 3 eat free at the buffets- crystal palace at MK or Hollywood and vine at DHS for example. For other meals we supplemented as she was hungry-sometimes a full meal, sometimes snacks of fruit or whatever. All the table service restaurants were accomodating about bringing an extra plate for her to share our meals. In fact most places where we intended to order a meal for her, the staff would recommend alternatives to the sides for our meals that she could also enjoy. WE usually just charged the extra meal to our KTTW card along with any tips for the staff. It was super easy and stress free. Hope this helps.

I just checked Disney's site.....it looks as though the kids stay and play for free has now been offered to the gp up till Oct 2/10:yay:. Unfortunately dining is not included in the deal:sad2:.

For my 14 night stay at a mod with 2A and 2C it will save me about $450:yay:.....which is better than nothing. I am booking this but will still take advantage of free dining if and when it comes out, as this will be a much better deal for my family of 4.

Would they really have two offers going at the same time for DVisa - the kids play/stay/dine free AND free dining. You think they would have one or the other, but not both.

Maybe the DVisa stays as is the the GP offer is free dining?

Disney has extended the current promo for the GP to October 2nd as well. So, now it's all up in the air. Still hoping tomorrow FD is announced to DVisa holders.

:banana:WOOHOO! So glad you got a pin! I know it was a relief for me too! It ended up saving us just as much as FD would have! I am still hoping the people who have not gotten a pin get one soon!

Well that just blew my theory out of the water. Not sure what to think. Will they really offer another deal so soon? Just a waiting game now. Monday or tomorrow will tell it all. Whether it be free dining or nothing. If it is nothing, I would say they are doing what they can to meet their quotas without it.

I don't remember how much it cost, this was in March 2006, but I think it might have actually been cheaper? :confused3 I think the dining plan has only gotten increasingly more expensive. It's sad too, because my 2006 trip was for Spring Break during my senior year in college. I fell in love with the dining plan because it was such a great deal, and vowed I would never go back without it. Sure enough in December 2007 my family and I went for our Christmas trip, and I forced them to get the dining plan. By then the tip was no longer included, but you still got app, entree and dessert for each table service meal. I'm pretty sure then it was cheaper than it is now... Even so we were planning on doing the DxDP this December, until I decided to get the AP as well as the TIW card, which would actually save us more than the dining plan. After we ran the numbers for our restaurants we realized that we would barely be justifying the cost of the plan, and the TIW card gets me and up to 10 other people 20% off all food and bev (including alcohol). Sure the card costs $75, but it's still worth it since I will use it for my other 2 trips!

*As a matter of fact, I just researched it, and in 2006, the dining plan was around $35, in 2007 it was $38.99 and in 2008 it was $37.99. I assume that the price drop between 2007 and 2008 is when they dropped the appetizer? Still, since 2006 the price has risen roughly $6 and the inclusions have decreased drastically...*

Thank you for the info. The tip is a HUGE increase in cost when you think about it. The $7 per person is already a 20% increase over the original $35 price, and then there's the 18% gratuity on top of that! In 4 years Disney has added 40% to the price of the DDP!

Considering they dropped the appetizer as well, the DDP is not as great a deal without Free Dining!

That's essentially over a 20% savings over the current offerings! Was the price for the dining plan higher then?

The flip side is that with guaranteed tip, the waiter/waitresses would not have as much of an incentive to provide better service.

Back when the dining plan included tip we went both with paying for the DP and getting free DP. Both times service was excellent. I wondered the same thing before going but it was great! I still wish it was included, that original DP was awesome!
