2010 Fall Dining for DVISA Is Out (See FIRST page)'

I just think it's sad how every year it gets more and more scaled back! I remember the first time I ever took advantage of the dining plan, it included the app, entree, dessert AND 18% gratuity! :thumbsup2 I remember thinking how awesome that would be for the employees because they would be guaranteed a decent tip, since a lot of people are stingy tippers, especially when they are paying a lot for the food and the vacation in general.

That's essentially over a 20% savings over the current offerings! Was the price for the dining plan higher then?

The flip side is that with guaranteed tip, the waiter/waitresses would not have as much of an incentive to provide better service.

I don't remember how much it cost, this was in March 2006, but I think it might have actually been cheaper? :confused3 I think the dining plan has only gotten increasingly more expensive. It's sad too, because my 2006 trip was for Spring Break during my senior year in college. I fell in love with the dining plan because it was such a great deal, and vowed I would never go back without it. Sure enough in December 2007 my family and I went for our Christmas trip, and I forced them to get the dining plan. By then the tip was no longer included, but you still got app, entree and dessert for each table service meal. I'm pretty sure then it was cheaper than it is now... Even so we were planning on doing the DxDP this December, until I decided to get the AP as well as the TIW card, which would actually save us more than the dining plan. After we ran the numbers for our restaurants we realized that we would barely be justifying the cost of the plan, and the TIW card gets me and up to 10 other people 20% off all food and bev (including alcohol). Sure the card costs $75, but it's still worth it since I will use it for my other 2 trips!

*As a matter of fact, I just researched it, and in 2006, the dining plan was around $35, in 2007 it was $38.99 and in 2008 it was $37.99. I assume that the price drop between 2007 and 2008 is when they dropped the appetizer? Still, since 2006 the price has risen roughly $6 and the inclusions have decreased drastically...*

Yes, and we got this same plan for free dining in September of that same year. It was a wonderful treat! The appetizer, entree, dessert, and tip were all given to us for free! :thumbsup2

And in 1995 I only paid $150 for a 10 day park hopper.. (LOL) ahh.. the good ol' days.

Who's hoping to see F/D announced tomorrow for DVISA holders?

I'm not even a card holder and I'm practically giddy in anticipation.. geez.. I hope it's tomorrow.. what if it's MONDAY???

Oh no.. I don't know if I can take this for four more days..

OYE!

I for one, cannot wait! I am tired of wondering! I am going regardless, but I would love some free food, to cut down on costs! I have ADR's made just in case...

Can't wait to get this craziness behind us!!!

Canadian Guy...thank you so much for your patience with all of us...you've calmly kept us informed without providing false hope, yet whenever you are around, this thread seems much calmer.

And anyone who has a New Kids on the Block reference in their tag must be awesome - LOL! :)

LOL-I remember going in '90? or 91? Maybe one of the 1st yrs of the dining plan-breakfast, lunch and dinner-apps,entree, dessert and tips included. By the end of the trip we were ordering things to see how high we could get the bill and rolling around the parks after-lol. Of course-it wasn't free then but I was only in high school so I didn't really have to pay. :rolleyes1

Anxiously waiting with DVisa in hand, come on tomorrow. I feel like I am wishing my life away! :)

You and me both! The other day I caught myself not only trying to mentally hurry along the next GREAT offer (FD or otherwise), but I was also wishing it was closer to Sept 27 (day 1 of our WDW trip). Then, I realized that if it were closer to Sept 27, DD's "GLORIOUS SUMMER OF NOTHING" will be gone, and she'll be back in school. :(
(She is SO LOOKING FORWARD to a break from school right now. :hippie:

Four more days is cake, now if it isn't announced on Monday and you don't see a single nother post from me, you know I smashed my computer. :lmao:

I for an offer last week for the Disney Visa...normally I do not sign up for more credit cards, but this one promised no annual fee, a $150 Disney gift card after the first use...and now hearing about all of these special offers I think I made the right decision!

ME ME! I cancelled all my plans for tomorrow just in case

of course if it isn't offered I'm going to go :scared: wondering if it will be announced MOnday for gp

So if it is offered to Disney visa people, when will it be listed? Midnight? 5 am? I only aske because I work the overnight shift, so I can book as soon as they open in the AM, but not it it hasn't come out yet? Where would I look? If I could get it handled on my drive home in the AM that would be GREAT! :cool1: That way I might actually sleep soundly, knowing everything is handled!

ummmm so just for fun I attempted to go to disneyvisarewards.com and it said "Sorry-the requested information is temporarily unavailable"

Still just the kids stay, play, dine for free.....oh well :(
