**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

Food Kiosks are up. An area to the left as you 'cross over' from Future World to Food & Wine Nirvana has been blocked off with the high block-out boards ... pardon our dust kind of thing. It's across from that big balloon kiosk and coffee booth. I think it's going to be the 15 Beer Booth. There is no sign on it yet.

Thanks for the update.....:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

This was posted awhile back but it's a long thread.

As payment at the kiosks, you can use:
Cash, credit cards, Disney gift cards, KTTW cards with charging privileges, Disney Visa reward dollars, or dining plan snack credits (the last is still subject to confirmation in 2010 but is likely, and you can't use them for alcoholic beverages.)

I'm guessing that the 'Marketplace Discovery Passport' is for kids?

Anyone know if you have to make a purchase in order to get a stamp?

I apologize if this has been covered, but 100+ pages is daunting.

Thanks

I would not assume the passport is for kids. I personally know lots of adults who are very excited abou them. I don't know if you must purchase to get a stamp but I'm not sure why you'd want a stamp if you didn't try the food.

Perhaps adults would not want a stamp, but if my kids take part, they will want a stamp from ALL the booths. And while I plan to sample a fair amount, I doubt that I will want to eat at all 27.

Since it's never been done before, you may have to wait until the festival starts to find out if they will stamp the passport if you have not made a purchase.

Is anyone making special shirts for their F&W trip this year? I looked in the creative DISigns threads, but there does not seem to be many posts on the this event. I know I've seen people in shirts during previous trips, so anyone doing it this year and want to share their creativity?

No offense but I hope guests do have to purchase something in order to get the passport stamp. We wait in line for the food and wine, the passport will be fun but incidental - I for one don't want to have to wait in a line 12-deep so just people can get a stamp.

I'm cranky, impatient, and hungry. :rotfl2:

I agree. Those lines are long enough as it is.

The person who was supposed to join me for a couple of demi/seminars on Saturday the 16th can't make it. I don't really want to give the now-extra ticket to just any random riff-raff who happens to be in the area.

I have the Jim Beam event at noon and the Fess Parker Winery event at 4:00PM. Anyone interested? Send me a private message, please.

riff-raff at a booze/wine deminar??? I wouldn't think that would happen! :rotfl2:

I'll be in Disney from October 24 - 29 for a girls trip and we plan to hit the Food and Wine festival several times for sampling. None of us have ever attended the festival and are greatly looking forward to it. We're not attending any of the special events, just sampling the food booths.

I saw the link to the list of booths on page one, is that that the list of all the booths and what they will be serving this year? That looks like a nice extensive list.

What are the usual must do, most popular, delicious samplings??? :yay: If we plan to go for lunch or dinner, how many samplings on average make up a meal for your average woman? We're saving our snack credits, and I also have my disney rewards card to use there.

It's going to be hard to decide, I'm looking for the top 5 picks there.

Thanks!!!

Ditto!! From what I remember last year, there were long lines, and very few children...I'd hate to see the lines triple simply for stamps. I believe there are places on the passports too, to write your impression on the foods/wines ....with that in mind, I'd think they are more geared for adults.

Mmm, those all sound like excellent suggestions. :cheer2:

Are the stands spread all around the World Showcase or are they clumped together in one area? Are they easy to spot as the special Food and Wine locations?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm a planner. If my friends so my spreadsheet for our upcoming trip, they would be very, very afraid, lol. :rotfl: It's a secret spreadsheet.

Has anyone tried the lobster roll? That one caught my eye.

I don't know if these questions are appropriate for this thread or if I should be asking my questions separately. If so, just let me know, thank you!

The stands are all scattered around the World show case....you could download the Festival map guide in advance, it will show locations and food type and highlight which ones you want to try. That is what we did and made it so much easier to just pre-plan and pass on the samples we did not want to try vs. standing there and reading all the menu while at EPCOT. And Yes I did try the Lobster Roll...thought for the quarter size of Lobster that I got...it was not worth the cost. And I mean quarter size scoop of lobster. Maybe my server was not as giving that day. But Ireland's lobster and scallop dish sure made up for it. Chucks of lobster and scallops in a rich cheese like sauce!!!

I love the idea of using the passport. I thought everyone was talking about the passports I usually buy for my children. Is there a special passport for the Food and Wine Festival that has room to write the dish(es) and your comments? That would be even more fun. I can't wait.

Thanks for the info!

It sounds like it will already have the dishes written in. You can pick it up at the Festival Center (Wonders of Life Pavilion in Future World.) :goodvibes
