**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

I actually had fun at the Haunted Ball but only because it was such a weird event...the food and drinks were not worth remembering but with it being such a strange event...I have a soft spot for those. No, I didn't ask for my money back.
They could serve you a hot dog and a diet coke in the HM and you would love it!

Jen, it wasn't in the HM...if it had been you would have heard me talk about it...it was in the American pavilion at Epcot and they had all these "ghosts from the past" walking around. I ended up dancing with Wyatt Earp. Surreal.

And now that I saw that people were getting charged incorrectly for French Regional lunches, I have a feeling I was charged $124. I need to check my confirmation at home and see what she quoted me and verify later with CRO.

They probably said 100 24, meaning 100.24, rather than 124.00

Funny!

If Disney CM's had not worked so hard to ignore disgruntled guests at the Jiko dinner, I think a line would have formed with folks hoping to trade in their trail mix tins for a refund!!!

Well, I broke down and called to add one more event... and luckily, they still had seating for it. It's going to be a tight schedule trying to get to Epcot in time to attend this on check-in day, but I want to give it the "ol' college try"...

French Regional Lunch on Oct 17 (featuring Alsace wines)

Hubby may love the reds, but I love the whites. Our schedule was really top heavy on the reds, so I'm highly motivated to get there in time for this event!!!

The CM I just spoke with at reservations said that it's really quiet on the dining lines right now, but that it was a mad house earlier. She said it only took about 15 minutes before they were circulating "sold out" notices to the CMs this morning for quite a few events. It truly is a "you snooze you lose" situation!

I'm curious what they are doing for F & W this year but if they stick to the original dates they posted I can't do it since I shifted my reservations to a week later than originally planned to attend some of the F & W special events I was interested in. Of course now that I've booked my special events they would probably conflict with the D23 event anyway.

I was worried about this too, so at the last D23 event, I asked Jeffrey what the deal was with D23's F&W event this year. Apparently they only started talking to Epcot to plan it about 10 days ago. So of course we have no way of knowing which special F&W events we book might be duplicated by D23. He did say that they want to mix things up a bit and break away from the "first you go here, then you go there" itinerary of past events but I dunno if this means they're not doing *any* of the special F&W events or if they're doing special D23 versions or what. I'm prepared to waste a bunch of money on things I already have tickets for just like at D23's Christmas event... :headache:

We liked that one too. The ghosts were neat.

It is a difference in gratuity. One is banquet based, maybe 10%, the other isrestaurant based, probably 18%.

Except both events were listed as $45 including gratuity. I suspect that you are right, and that when they list $45, that is actually rounded up, and the actual prices are slightly less than $45. And then the two events weren't exactly the same price, so when tax was added they are $.18 different.

The difference is you do not tax the gratuity. 7%of $45/1.18 is $2.66 and 7% of 45/1/10 IS $2.86. These are rounded so about 20 cents different.

Yet another newbie question for our FW vet:worship:

DH and I will attend the Food and Wine Pairing at Tutto and we also have a 7:15 dinner reservation at Bistro de Paris that evening. I am wondering if I should move our Bistro dinner to another evening or even later that evening.

In the past, has the Food and Wine Pairing served as a late lunch/early dinner for those who have attended?

Many thanks for all the info!

P.S. I received the TIW email about the Grape Getaway at 12:23 p.m.

I must have the dumbest CM in the world. It took him about 15 minutes to even search for the Grand Marnier only to tell me 10/2 is sold out.

We did nearly the exact same thing two years ago. The Tutto "pairing" was an entire meal, and the portions were hefty too! It did not end until mid afternoon and we skipped dinner that evening because the Tutto event was a full meal and ended mid-afternoon. I would move your Bistro ressie - that restaurant is way too good not to be hungry going in. Not sure the short time between those events will allow you to do Bistro justice.

Oh, I see now. Thanks. That makes sense. Or cents as the case may be. :)

Thanks for the quick response Empress Room:thumbsup2

Maybe we will do the Bistro early on Friday night before the 3 D - Disney Dessert Discovery? Then again I want to save room for all the desserts and cordials:faint:

Back to the :surfweb: DH just can't understand how much planning goes into this trips:lmao:

was up @ 6:45 with both phones ready 2 go. Got wine view lounge for both
PFTS 10/23 and 10/30-they sold out quick. This is our 14 yr and:yay: we LOVED
the Wine View Lounge last yr- Finally tables. And DD wanted to see Andrew
Zimmerman (sp?) the guy that eats all that gross food on the Food Network
and we got those tickets also.

Hi all. I just checked the F & W wesbsite and it says for 10/24 is Richard Ruskell, but the guide said Gale Gand!! I wanted to see Gale Gand and the site says she is there on 10/17. What shall I do????

:confused3

Hello all!

Just for giggles my husband called and talked to TiW about the "Great Grape Grandiose Gouge Fest" and they wanted none-refundable money and had no other information for you. Everyone - chefs, wines, events - except the ones listed are T.B.A. :confused3 They also said that they still had plenty of availability! :rotfl2::rotfl2: We thought maybe if you called someone could give you more but NOPE!

It sounds like a lot of us will be in the Wine View on Oct 23rd. We should all wear DIS buttons or something so we can say "hi" to each other! Last year, they assigned tables in the order calls were received, so we'll probably all be fairly close to each other as well. We were the 2nd table last year, but I imagine we will be a lot further back now since I was disconnected with my first call today.

I wanted to do the Cali Grill Sig dinner, but hubby wanted to try Jens. We're going to Cali Grill for our son-in-law's 30th bday dinner in January, so we'll create our own version of a F&W event then! We had also considered the Zimmern F&F in the Kitchen event, but son wanted to eat bizarre food at it. When I told him it would be relatively normal cuisine, he was no longer interested in that event! (Of course, I had resisted booking it until I found out we would NOT be eating bugs and such!) The one event I regret not booking was the French Regional Lunch on 10/17. We're driving in that day, and hubby thought it would be difficult to make a lunch at noon our first day there. I must admit... checking out of the "in transit" hotel, driving the last leg of our trip, checking the pup into the kennel, dropping bags off at BWV, and then heading to Epcot for noon would be pushing it.

I wonder how many folks have booked the Jiko signature dinner for this year... I teasingly told hubby we should do it again. He didn't laugh! ;)

Funny we will be there in WVL for the 23 and the 30. My DD wanted to do
Zimmern so we got tickets for her and now that u said normal food I guess
I will be going with her on the second ticket. I got spoke with someone at
7:04 am and got in really fast this yr

Has anyone done the PFTS since the start 15 yrs ago. We have gone the last
14 yrs and have every set of glasses and wondered if anyone has the first set?

If they are just beginning to plan this now I sense a train wreck within the larger Mess that this year already is. When will they ever get it through their heads that besides them needing plenty of lead time to plan a spectacular event the guests also need time to plan ahead. And no the majority of us are not willing to blindly sign up for events that cost $$ without details. After my disappointment of the Flower & Fireworks event I was not about to give up my preferred F & W offerings to maybe sign up for the currently no info available D23 Sip & Stroll event. You would think they would at least have announced the dates or issued a reminder if they are staying with the originally announced dates so that people who were interested could plan around it. I'm curious if they even intend to stick with the dates they announced in back January.
