I don't see any events that are jumping out at me. I think I'd consider doing PFTS, but at that price probably not. I guess I'll wait for the deminar schedule to be released. Even at $8 a piece, I could do 10 deminars for cheaper than any of the events.

We are right there with you... We did not like any of the dinners and the price just seems to far out there for us.

We will pick some deminars and take is food from the booths and be happy!

This will be our first F&W. Will the offerings at each of the booths be announced prior to the event - or is this something we just have to figure out when we get there?

The wine seminars and culinary demonstrations should be online for 'ticket' purchase on Aug 26. I don't know if they will release the schedule before then.

For the Tequilla Tasting...I almost did the event last year, but I'm prone to migraines and chickened out. My migraines have been much more tame recently, so I'm thinking about doing it this year. My fear is from the feedback on last year's event, that it was hard to hear the presenter and wasn't really worth it. I'm going the first week, so I can't really wait to see a review and then hope there's room during my trip. Feedback? Would you do it or wait until next year to see if they've improved it?

For the tequila tasting...we didn't do it, friends did. But, we have been to La Cava many, many times, lol. We really enjoy it, and you can do tastings and have everything explained to you without doing the formal one during F&W.

Same with the Grand Marnier tastings, last I was in a resort bar, they were offered there on a daily basis, without the crepes of course, lol.

I won't be doing the tequila tasting again. It was worth the money only to have the exclusive access to La Cava on the busiest food and wine day of the year (they kept the bar open and the line went all the way around the pavilion). I'm sort of a La Cava regular so I wasn't having anything that was new to me.

I would take my 45 bucks, buy myself a flight and some food, and ask Hilda to tell the story of how they make tequila (it's all spelled out on the mural anyway).

Question for anyone who did this option last year ... are the seats assigned in the reserved section? Is there a placard with your name on it? Just trying to determine if we should book individually or as a group if we want the same table.

Definitely book as a group so they'll seat you together. They will lead you to your table.

I don't even try sitting anymore and I go in after everyone else (so no "running of bulls") and do it backwards - dessert first (the dessert tables have no lines early) and then the entrees (after everyone else has moved to dessert).

That's about what I do, too. I usually do some savory, then hit all my desserts in the middle, and then go back to savory at the end when everyone's going for dessert.

Not very many, but every now and then you see a few. Usually older kids.

Yes, there will likely be a few other children there. But it is not an event geared for children.

Out of curiosity is anyone else even considering doing a PFTS without the wine view room? I'm afraid based on last year's experience I don't see the necessity for the wine view room unless someone in your party has an injury or limited mobility and must have an assigned seat. And the price is still reaasonable for an event like that without the wine view addon.

DH and I will definitely be doing PFTS without the wine view room. We had a great time last year without the wine vew room and expect to do so again. Although we didn't feel the wines were quite the quality of years past, for us, it was still worth the price.

Yes, I plan to return to the Party for the Senses after a hiatus from last year, and I don't plan to do a Wine View room. I never had a set way to hit the stations until a few years ago. I like starting in the back and working my way forward. I tend to end up having desserts in the middle of the pack.

I have seen teens at the PFTS,and a few younger kids. PFTS is kind of like a big cocktail party,and with that in mind, it really is more geared towards adults.

Last year the Tequila Tastings were from 3-4 pm this year they are from 12 noon -1. Maybe, and I don't know for sure, they plan to keep La Cava closed to other customers at the bar during this time. That would be a welcome change from last year.

Hilda is no longer at LaCava, she is manager of San Angel Inn Restaurant. The new Tequila Ambassador is Umberto (sp?). Any of the servers will also explain the story, if business is slow enough in the lounge.

Is the wine school something that has been offered in the past? If so any comments on it. We've done a number of classes at our local wine store and really enjoy them. It says this is held 1-3 with a light reception 3-4. We're also interested in PFTS. Since both are on Saturday and we will only be there one Saturday, if we do both it would need to be the same day. Would this be too much for one day? Appreciate any comments.
