**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

The descriptions appeared after the initial registration form was completed. Then you could view all of the options for sign-up. Many of them listed the main ingredient or category, many didn't, too.

I love lamb, but even if I didn't, Irvine will be well-worth the experience. He may serve something else with the lamb, as well as wine that you might enjoy, too.

Thanks, I asked my husband and he said he didn't remember seeing anything about what was being served. He was so intent on signing in and grabbing the deminar that we wanted quickly that he didn't read anything, just flew through the booking process! He was afraid he would be too slow and then I'd be mad that we didn't get it. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1
Anyway, I figured out it had to be something like the details being available when you picked which one you wanted to do so I went in to register and looked at the detail. I see the one for Irvine on 10/24 is sold out of discounted tickets.

It was just an ugly rumor!!!
DVC members are getting discounts.
But I only saw 1 culinary demo that looked interesting when we are going to be there...so even though we were dissappointed with the portions last year we are going to try one more time... so I booked Jamie Dean on the 16th...and maybe the vodka later...

We're now signed up for the following:

Friday, Oct 22: Julian Rose, Moonstruck Chocolate Co., Portland, OR (Pastry)
Achaval Ferrer, Mendoza, Argentina - Victoria Marcelo Darío

Saturday, Oct 23: Rafael Vasquez, Gusto.SA, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (Seafood)
Rémy Cointreau USA, Cognac, France - Steele Cooper

Sunday, Oct 24: Enzo Fargione, Washington, D.C. (Tuna)
Marqués de Cáceres, Spain - Luis Burgueño

Any other DISers going to be at those?

I have a question about the print out instructions from this year's registration. It stated to bring the printed confirmation to check in at the event.
We did not do any prepaid deminars last year so I'm not clear on the procedure.

Do we need to get hard tickets at the register prior to each deminar?
or
Do we just go the deminar area and a CM checks us in?
and
Do we need to actually bring the 8X11 print out or just need our Registration Code number and the membership card/pass we used to book the deminars?

TIA

Last year, we just walked up and told them our names and they let us in, we were on a list. I don't remember bringing anything with me to show them.:cool2:

I thought we had to bring whatever card had made us eligible for the discount, but I'm not sure.

If we did, it would have been our resort cards/park ticket/ I think it says DVC on them, so it could have been, but I really just remember them looking at a printout and marking our names off.

BUT and I mean a BIG BUT... we had been eating and drinking all day before we got there so I could just not remember.:rotfl:

Last year you could stop by the podiums any time that day to pick up your tickets. They checked for your name on the list for the deminar(s) you're signed up for and would give you tickets for the number of paid admissions you had; with a warning, not to lose the tickets!!!

If you showed up as they were letting guests in for your particular deminar, no need for them to give you a ticket; they'll just check their list for your name and party size.

No need to have your AP/TIW/DVC card - you won't need to show it. I would suggest bringing the email confirmation with you, just in case. I never heard about any problems last year, but I guess there's always a chance a name could be missing.

Well I just got my DVC email about the Food and Wine Festival and discount tickets to the Demos and Seminars

Member discounts among festival's 'delicious discoveries'

Disney Vacation Club® Member discounts are among the tempting ingredients in the mix for this year's Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival, celebrating 15 years of delicious discoveries Oct. 1-Nov. 14.

No, if your name was on their list, they knew you had paid and they weren't at all concerned with how or when you paid! :thumbsup2

We had a different experience. We explicitly asked if we needed to pick up tickets and were told "no." We got in line for our first demo, were near the front of the line, the ladies with a clipboard came down the line and although our names were on the list, demanded our tickets. We were both in ECVs and they made my companion get *out of the line* and go back to the festival booth to get our tickets!

Wow - I'm sorry you had that experience. Not very Disney-like of them, was it? :sad2:

Every time I stopped by the podium (at the start of the line) to pick up tickets for our first deminar of the day, they'd always ask if we had others scheduled and would give us all our tickets for that day. This was during the first couple of weeks of F&WF last year. :confused3

Got our DVC email about an hour ago too! We should probably be thankful we got it on the first day of booking!!

Registered today for a culinary demonstration with Keegan Gerhard on October 1. I registered myself and my DH and I paid for 2 people and it reflected that on my printed receipt, but no where did it ask for the additional person's name (my DH). Is this going to be a problem when we check in?

You should be fine, it was the same way last year, just my name and party of two.

Agree, one we were thinking of turned out to be vegetarian and DH would not go for that.
On the other hand, as vegetarians my DH and I were glad to see that there was a session featuring vegetarian food! I was hoping there would be something but wasn't really expecting it.

I do not recall ever having to show my DVC card. I did have to show ID. If you are the person who booked the tickets, make sure you have ID. Like this year, the website said you were required to bring the printed confirmation but I don't recall them ever asking for that.

They would let you pick up all your tickets for the day if you were scheduled for more than one event. But you had to have the paper ticket in hand before you would be admitted to the demo.

Pre-booked tickets were picked up at the venue itself (meaning outside Palmhenge or outside the area they had set up for the beverage seminars), not at the desk where they sold day-of tickets. (Last year there was only one desk and only one person selling tickets. The lines could get long, especially while persons in front of you took their time deciding which deminars to book.)

Not just the deminars, but almost every event at Food & Wine you sign up for, they only have the name of the person who actually booked the tickets, they do not have the name of anyone accompanying them.

That is great and I think they should offer all kinds. But I tried to do a meatless Monday here at the house with lots of high protein options but he would not hear of it, and kept complaining so I gave in.....no meatless Monday's here.

So, I guess I am the last to check in - not having access to a 'puter until now. But, I did get what I wanted.

Here is a hint from last year --- not sure if it will work for this year -

For the late comers, if you check you are a member and it says there are no seats available, start over and do not check that you are a member. You may be able to get a seat at the full price (if that is worth it to you).

As for the comments on checking in, I can add that it was different about each time we went. We had to show ID, we did not have to show ID. We had to show the e-mail confirmation, we did not have to show the e-mail confirmation. We had to show the e-mail confirmation with/without ID.

Thus, I shall bring my e-mail confirmation AND my TIW or DVC card, whatever was used. I shall then be armed to easily obtain the tickets based on whatever system is in place at the time.

I must be lucky as I received heads up from TIW and DVC about the event as well as the personal response to the e-mail I placed for this group yesterday. Actually, I received two responses, one from the Event Staff and one from the TIW staff.....

The suggested offerings helped me this year. There are some foods we do not eat, and it was sad to by-pass a chef we would have liked to have seen, but this avoided a problem later. Also, like others of you DH does not like to be booked to the hilt so I looked for food and wine offereings back-to-back where possible.

The only glitch was being out of town.

Now if only September would hurry up....we could be feasting!

Does anybody know if Belvedere and Chopin vodka are connected in any way? I think the presenter, Trish Linden, at the Belvedere beverage seminar is the same one that did the Chopin seminar last year. I also noticed that Chopin has a Strawberry Balsamic chiller at the Poland booth, and that Belvedere is doing a Strawberry Balsamic Martini at the seminar. Chopin had this same martini last year.

I was able to book the 10/24 Irvine culinary, followed by the La Crema wine deminar. That is going to be a long day after Sweet Sudays. I see a few of you here will also be at the 10/24 Irvine demo - hoping to meet you all!
