2010 cruise info

I am sure this has been discussed, but I was just informed that the summer 2010 cruises that are longer than 7 nights will have a deposit amount of $600 per person.

Yes on the 2010 thread -its 50% less £300 if booking online or TA books online, (the deposit is 50% less but you will still have to pay the balance later

Trying to plan our cruise before Oct 14. How can you "plan" when there is such a wide difference in each catagory's prices ? Is there a way to determine approx how much your cabin will cost ? Also, does DCL charge full fare for 3rd person (child, 5yrs ) ?

Thanks! That will be great to have on the cruise.

Just pointing out the fine print

Don't know I was just pointing it out because most people just see the OBC but don't read the fine print

I understand you must 'nominate' a travel agent on the ship at the time of your onboard booking, so they can take advantage of full commission payment from DCL.

If you book on board and transfer later to a TA they get less commission from DCL, the same as if you book on-line and transfer, this is new rules out this year.

The short answer is yes you qualify.

Since DU could not actually price a 2010 cruise for you prior to October 1 all requests to move bookings to 2010 are considered as being made in October so you are fine.

The most basic answer is anyone who gets a quote for a 2010 sailing in October and pays/modifies their existing reservation by the end of the month is eligible for the increased SBC.

Is it better to call DCL directly to book since i have a an existing reservation I want to transfer to dec 2010. If i transfer my exisiting res DU told me it could take 5-7 days. Is it better for them to try and book my reservation after it is transferred or should i try to calll 1st thing tues am. The only prob is that i will be in mexico. I was thinking of trying to buy an international calling card. How long do you think i will have to wait.....on hold. Thanks

For PC cruises people were on hold for HOURS. Can you transfer your ressie today to DU and then they can move it on the 14th?

Depends on the cruise you are booking, for any of the Atlantics /Meds I think you might be able to allow the 5>7 days, for others try to book on the 14th.

The 5-7 days refers to the timing it could take to transfer a cruise from DCL to a TA. It has to do with the paperwork that needs to be submitted, etc. I beleive your TA was just making sure she didn't say 'sure transfer' and then have it be delayed by something out of her control and you be disappointed.

That 5-7 days does not refer to how long the new booking will take. Everyone will be working hard the morning of the 14th to get quotes/changes completed with DCL but it could take some time to hear back from your TA. Maybe 24 - 48 hours but certainly not 5-7 days.

The decision as to whether you should allow a TA to handle your request is up to you and a completely personal one based on your own needs.

come tuesday i will like to book online and get the 10 percent off which i book a dummy cruise onboard a couple months ago. i know for the cruises in 2008 some people said they were on the telephone for 3 hours on booking day. plus i will like to book online and get the half off deposit. so can i book online and a couple days later when dcl is not that busy call and have my reservation changed and get the 10 percent and keep the rate i had on the 14th?
thankyou

Nope, sorry. If you have a previous date booked with the 10% discount and you want to transfer it to a 2010 cruise, you will have to do it on the phone or through your travel agent. EVEN IF A DCL CAST MEMBER TELLS YOU DIFFERENTLY (Trust me, a lot of us went through this in Jan of 07 for the Panama/Mexico cruises and cast members were giving out incorrect information when people would call and ask.)

You've already made a deposit on your dummy cruise and if you are keeping the same length cruise, no additional deposit would be required, so you don't need to worry about the 50% off deal there. However, if you are going from a 3, 4 or 7 day to one of the longer special cruises you will have to pay any increase in deposit.

I was on hold about 90 minutes waiting to transfer over an existing reservation to get booked on a Panama crossing.

For the Med Experts: In 2010, My kids are turning 11,9,5. Are the port excursions too hard for them? My friend just had Baltic cruise on Celebrity and she said that everyday was full of walking and most places are not stroller friendly? Have any of you brought your preschoolers to the past Med cruise? How did they do?

I just sent this email to Dreams Unlimited, but I was hoping several of you might have some quick answers for me.

DU Travel,

I currently have a "dummy" cruise that I booked online during my last cruise for 2009. There are a total of 3 rooms for each group of us. We are interested in potentially moving our reservation to a 2010 special cruise (Mediterranean or N. Europe). I have a few questions-

1) Do I need to transfer my reservation to a 2010 cruise with Disney first before I transfer the final reservation to Dreams Unlimited?
2) I was able to get an onboard discount for my 2009 cruise and I was told that I would be eligible for whatever the discount would be for the 2010 cruises once I moved my reservation. Am I still eligible for those discounts (10% off and shipboard credit) if I transfer my reservation to DU? Can you tell me what the 2010 itineraries shipboard credits will be?
3) I see that you also have a shipboard credit deal for the 2010 cruises. If I transfer my reservation will I be eligible to receive both shipboard credits (onboard booking and the amount you're offering?)
4) When I booked online Disney was running a deposit special of only paying 50%. If I transfer my reservation, do I still get the 50% deposit special? Can you tell me what the deposits are for the 11 and 12 night cruises for 2010?
5) Lastly, assuming all the above is satifactory, can you tell me what steps I have to take in order to transfer my reservations?

Will anyone be taking small kids to these places? Our kids will be 6 and 2. We missed the last Med. cruise and promised we were going the next time they go. So we're gearing up to go, but we are wondering if there will be more small kids onboard? Is there stuff for kids this small to do onshore? I obviously won't be going in the Sistine Chapel with my kiddos (bummer, too) but I'm just hoping there will be other families doing this trip with small kids and still having a good time?
