2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

You don't have to have everyone with you to either purchase or activate tickets.

That's true about buying the tickets. But the entire party must be there to activate them (to prevent scalping).

Correct me if I'm wrong Cheshire Figment, but that's Disney's official policy. It may happen when a castmember occasionally bends the rules, but I wouldn't count on it.

I'm sorry, but this is incorrect, and I don't need Cheshire Figment to verify. I have used these tickets 3 times in the last 12 months. Once with just myself and my daughter, once with us and my mother and brother, and once with us and my husband. Each of the last two times, I alone activated the tickets with no one else with me. All you need is their birthdates and names and your military ID, and the name and all info of the service member including his birthdate and duty station.

The only person needed to activate the tickets is the military ID holder. They will need name and birthdate of each person that a ticket is being activated for.

That is what I thought, as well. We may be purchasing some for a friend and her husband, when we are down in January and knew we would have to activate them before we left.

We were just there in September and I was also able to activate 4 tickets by myself with no problems. Just provided name and birthday for each in the party.

That's awesome, I didn't know that you could activate the tickets without everyone there.

Sorry but you are wrong on this. I have activated the tickets without everyone being there one every trip but the one 2 weeks ago. I actually had everyone there as we were going for MNSSHP and activated them then.

Can you activate two tickets for one person?

We have a family reunion trip coming up and our adopted grandmothers have decided to join us. One is retired military and she has offered to get us 4 tickets along with their two.

To complicate things DD's DH's company is trying to deny his vacation time for this Dec trip. If he ends up not going, can I activate two tickets in my name? I have a trip planned with my oldest DD in May.

TIA!:thumbsup2

You cannot activate two tickets in your name at the same time. You can use your first set, then activate the second.

This is where it gets tricky. There is a ton of conflicting information out there, but the fine print on the WDW website under this ticket offer says that you cannot activate 2 sets of tickets in the same week. But some people on here have, indeed, been able to activate them back to back. It's up to you if you want to try.

We have been able to activate two tickets for the same person at the same time. We bought 6 tickets and activated 2 tickets for three people all at the same time, no waiting required.

What is done by the military and by Disney are two sometimes very different things. Post #17 of the Everything About WDW Tickets sticky is written from the standpoint of a person at ticketing and Guest Services at WDW. Click in the link in my signature to get there directly. Note especially what is bolded in blue near the bottom of that post.

Does the same major vs minor park deal on the water parks and more option for military tickets apply? e.g. 4 days in the main parks but can attend a water park or Disney Quest on a 5th or 6th day? Or is it all parks, major and minor, only on 4 days?

It's the same policy as a regular ticket. You can essentially turn your 4 day into an 8 day if you chose to do so, in that respect.

This is a "canned" response modified for the Armed Forces Salute 2011/2012 tickets with the assumption you have both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires at Midnight on Sunday September 30, 2012. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used or 9/30/12. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have four days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have four entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the four entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

Can my father-in-law purchase and activate tickets for us (family of 4) without purchasing and activating a ticket for himself?

My father-in-law is retired Airforce and has purchased military salute tickets for us in the past, but has also purchased one for himself and gone to the parks the same time as us. This time he's not up to spending days in the parks and wants to just hang back while we go. Can he come to the window and activate our tickets without having one for himself?

Yes, he can! :thumbsup2

So, the rules for the tickets have changed if I am understanding correctly. In the past, my mother-in-law (widowed spouse) has been able to purchase 5 tickets for our family to use without purchasing one for herself (she doesn't like to do the parks, but hangs out at the hotel and eats meals with us). Now, it seems to read to me that she must purchase a ticket for herself in order to purchase the tickets for us as well? In the past, she was with us when we purchased our 5 tickets, but did not have to buy one for herself to use. Not sure if that would still be a savings for us all; must do the math since we would pay for her ticket.

We have a similar situation and this is my question too. I read the rules and it did imply that the service member needs to purchase a ticket for him/herself.

one of the minor problems I have with this program. My daughter went with friends to WDW in April, and still has a dependent card(21 and in college). It would be nice if she can buy a ticket for herself without my being there.

We'll be there for 8 days next week (at OKW), and may end up buying 2 tickets each (unless it's warmer than the Weather Channel shows) by Saturday and will instead go for the Water Fun upgrade...mid-70's so far (yeah I know, still warmer than here in Buffalo)

To get the maximum number of tickets at one time, 6, one of the tickets must be for the servicemember. If activating fewer than 6, the servicemember does not have to have one of them. So, a spouse can activate up to 5 tickets only -- the 6th would be "reserved" for the servicemember. I am a spouse and I activated 1 ticket in January for my sister to use; my sons and I have annual passes. I did not have to activate or buy a ticket for myself or my husband (who was not there).
