2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

This is a "canned" response modified for the Armed Forces Salute 2011/2012 tickets with the assumption you have both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires at Midnight on Sunday September 30, 2012. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used or 9/30/12. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have four days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have four entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the four entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

Uh oh. OK, now I have another question:

If I've only used 2 of my allotted 6 (prior to the program expansion), can I get the 4 I was entitled to before and THEN get another 6 - still using 2 different transactions?

And I thought I read somewhere that we can only have 6 active tickets tied to the service member at one time, meaning the first 6 have to be "used up" before the second 6. Can you confirm this for us, Cheshire?

Any word on this issue, Cheshire?

My DD was given a 1 day park hopper. Is my husband allowed to take this ticket to guest services and upgrade it to the salute ticket and pay the difference between the two?

Ok, I'm going to ask this question here just because there isn't a better thread to ask.

With the military discounted party tickets, the MNSSHP tickets in particular, they are only available in Sept, and not by advanced purchase you have to get them at the ticket window, I get that. However, what happens if the September party dates sell out ahead of time? Does Disney hold back a certain number of tickets for the military families if the event sells out? Would it still be possible for the families who are waiting to buy their discounted tickets until they arrive to get in to the party?

I am worried about this because after moving our trip up to Sept dates from October dates and finding that even at regular rack rate nearly every resort on property is at or near capacity the last week of Sept doesn't give me warm fuzzies in the ticket availability dept.

Historically, the only dates which sell out are Oct 31st and possibly the dates before/after Halloween. And those usually sell out sometime in late Aug/early Sept.

Altho you can't order the tickets in advance - online, you can purchase the tickets in advance when you arrive at WDW. Last year we bought our tickets on the day we arrived, Sept. 23rd, for the MNSSHP on Sept. 30th. We got the tickets at DTD Guest Relations. I was queasy about the date selling out, as you are. There is no set-aside of Military Discount tickets. We had no problems getting the tickets, and records show the event was not a sell-out.

I am betting you will get your tickets with no worries. You can obtain the tickets at ticket booths and Guest Relations locations. I think you have to just "trust to Pixie Dust." :)

Sometimes I want to take some of the people who write the rules without considering all the ramifications and slap them on the side of the heads to wake them up. However, I can't do this.

That said, my thought is if someone came to my window and the counter for their Salute tickets was less than 12, I would sell them additional tickets, but not more than six in one transaction.

If this is not a complimentary ticket there is no problem to upgrade to an Armed Forces Salute Ticket worth $138 or $165. But if is marked in any way as a complimentary ticket it cannot be upgraded.

It is extremely unlikely that any of the September dates will sell out. Which is why they offer discounts. But you can purchase your ticket in advance; the only restriction is it must be at a WDW ticket window.

Guess I need to find out when you're working and where! ;) Thanks for the head's up - I'll try it out. :)

I have a military ticket from before they added time with an expiration date of 10/1/11. I'm visiting again in August but already have YES tickets for that. Is there any way to extend the days I have left on the military ticket to 9/30/12? If I bring my ticket with me in August could they reissue it with a new expiration date? Don't suppose anybody knows if a partial Disney World ticket can be used at Disneyland? I just hate to see days go unused. ;)

Although your ticket says it expires 10/1/11, the program has been extended so the actual expiration date of your ticket is 9/30/12. Don't worry about it. If it would make you feel happy, you could exchange it at any ticket booth, but it will work in the turnstiles as it is (unless it got demagnetized).

The Disneyland ticket is a separate ticket. Just FYI! :)

Thanks. :) On Mousesavers it says that you can use a Disneyworld ticket at Disneyland. I just wondered if it applied to military tickets as well as regular Disneyworld tickets.

Hmmm, that's interesting! I just searched Mousesavers and found where that was the case - I must admit I had no idea!! I would venture to guess, however, that it may not work with the Military Salute tickets, since they are so heavily discounted. Heck the Disneyland Military ticket is a 3-day parkhopper for $99 which is a STEAL compared to the gate price!! Almost beats a one-day ticket, if I'm not mistaken! :)

So, since they're good until 2012, I'd go ahead and take advantage of the DL ticket deal as well. Actually, I personally already have. :D

What????? What does this mean exactly! I was never told anything like this when I purchased the ticket for my niece who will be there in October without me? I was allowed to purchase the ticket to give to her, they put her information on her ticket and it shows her name on the ticket. Will she have any issues entering the park with her ticket if I am not there?

Am I reading this right? Either the eligible service member or spouse have to also use a ticket during the trip? Cheshire Figment can you clarify?

If you did NOT buy your niece's ticket at a WDW ticket center, then YOU have to activate it at WDW. If you have already activated it then she will be good to go, otherwise it is useless without being activated.

If you purchase the 6 ticket limit, then 1 MUST be for the active duty member. If you only purchased 5 or less then you are fine with 1 not being for the active duty member.

I purchased her ticket at Guest Relations over at Epcot. (after being told at epcot ticket window that I could not purchase a ticket in advance for a family member)

I was just curious about the statement saying that the one of the tickets on each occasion had to be for the eligible service member or spouse. thanks for that clarification, I was starting to worry. I only purchased one ticket.

Ok, I am glad that Disney finally clarified this and saw some reason, but I bet there are going to be a whoooooooole lot of ticked off people who bought a bunch of tickets already thinking they could get them in unlimited quantities during this promotion and send them to their friends and family members going with them at will.

Why on earth did it take them so long to set this policy?

Trying to figure out how I can make this work:

We purchased 5 Military passes in June. We used 2 Theme park visits and 2 WPF&M visits. We are going again in January and will most likely be purchasing the passes again, this time with the hopping option. Here is my question...will we be able to use the old passes and the new passes during the same week? The Disney statement makes it sound like no more than 6 passes can be used during one week. Also, this time I will need to purchase a pass for my DD, can her pass be upgraded to 6 days to match our tickets?

Thanks!
