Hi there! I've read on these boards that the rates 2009won't be released until July/August. How do we know when thet actually get posted? Do I just have to keep checking on their site until I notice that I can book past December?
I'm planning this trip for my daughter's 4th birthday, also her first trip. Therefore both sets of grandparents are coming with us. My in-laws have already freaked out about booking now because we don't know what the rates are going to be. I guess they think that somehow the rates are going to inflate by about 100% and they'll be stuck paying it. CRAZY! Anyway, any help from you guys would be appreciated.:flower3:

This is a great question. I want to book my trip for mid-January and I'm getting anxious about not being able to. Mostly because I would like to book ADRs as soon as I am able and it would be nice to have the dining plan and room cooked before I do that.

I'm anxiously waiting, too. I suspect that you'll know from fellow DISers soon after they are released:) . My ta told me she would be in touch as soon as they come out. I keep hoping to read the good news each time I log onto DIS or TGM. Any time now.......

Here's a question that's sort of related. Can you still make ADRs 180 days out? I suppose I could make our ADRs even before I book our room.

When it gets closer to the date that they will release the rates, the CM's feel a bit free to tell you when you call asking for the info. I remember last year that the release date was all over the resorts and codes/rates boards for a couple of days before hand. Once one person from the Dis makes their reservations, the boards light up with the info.

Anyone can book reservations at their ADR window regardless of where they are staying. I don't know how the plus 10 works if you haven't been able to book your room yet, though.

BTW, I believe the release date for the rates last year was August 5th or something around that time.

Doesn't it seem odd that they won't let you book your room within 180 days of your trip? I wonder why they do that.

You can call CRO and book room-only for 2009 right now. You can't book a package until rates and the specifics on the DDP are released in July/Aug. When those become available and packages can be booked, you can change your room-only reservation to a package.

I'm want to wait to see the rate I'm paying, though, before booking anything. You never know, though, if they don't tell me soon, I'll go with the room-only.

Yeah, if you need to go during a traditionally busy time, I would book now. We need to go April 3-6 of 09 (a little over a week before Easter) so I knew to book the room ASAP. We booked almost a year in advance. I already knew that the time that I'd be going would be prime time and the most expensive.

We are going at a pretty low time I would think: January 12 - 16. I think we're safe to wait a little?

The last few years the package rates became available the first week of August.

Bumping. Just seeing if anyone else has any more info!!:flower3:

I spoke with a Disney CM this afternoon and was told early to mid August. We are going in January so I asked about my ADRs and the 180 mark. She told me I would need to make the "room only" reservation so I could make my ADRs and then convert to a package once they are released.:goodvibes :goodvibes

Last year the packages were released on August 5 -- I know this because I booked our package for this year on that date. A few days before that the boards and other unofficial Disney sites started mentioning the changes to the Dining Plans, etc. I would imagine that this year it will be similar. I really wouldn't expect packages to be released until the beginning of August.

You, of course, can go ahead and start booking your ADRs at your 180-day mark.

I'm going to move this over to our codes and rates board for you.

I don't think you need to have a resort reservation to make your ADRs at the 180 day mark. It's just that you couldn't do the 180 + 10.
