2009 mugs different?

Until I read this thread it never occured to me that this was not a winter scene! Now that I look at my mugs I guess you're right! Here I thought these were special ones made for the Christmas season which is dumb of me since I bought them in August . . .

I wonder if it was just us Northerners that thought it was a winter scene? We see a picture with white on the ground and we automatically think snow! It's programed into our brains!

I've only seen a pic of one that someone posted when I asked what they looked like and I thought it looked like snow too and I'm from KY.

Just back froma week on 1/21 and there were plenty of old mugs at SSR, Boardwalk, POR-FQ and Poly. Saw the new bags at MK on 1/20.

Are people using their old mugs? I heard we can't do that. But if we can we will bring our old Pop ones.

Refillable mugs are ONLY valid for your vacation stay. Not multiple stays.
Although some guests bend the rules, its not really the right thing to do.:upsidedow

We always buy the mugs, but sometimes bring along the disposable coffee cups. We pour our coffee from our "new" refillable mug into the disposable cup so we can throw it away at the theme parks and not have to carry the mugs around with us.

I'd love to hear what they have at AKL as far as refills. This will determine whether we buy one. Apple Juice or Orange Juice would go down really well with mykids. I don't think I would get them if it was just soda.

My daughter hates soda pop and she asked if she could get juice in hers, they said yes, I believe it was apple and orange available from the dispenser but I'm not sure. Would not have bought one for her if only soda and coffee were available. Hubby was a BIG fan of the bottomless coffee cup concept, lol, even though he says the coffee is mediocre. Caffeine is caffeine, right?:coffee: :thumbsup2

Anyone know if they have juice at the POR? I might get them for the kids if they do. Otherwise, they are going to be stuck with bottles of water. lol

from everything I read, they are not available yet. They wont start selling until they sell out the Year of a Million dreams mugs.

When buying a resort mug it is only good for refills at your resort during your stay.

Only partially true. Yes, only during the stay that you buy the mug. The mugs are now refillable at ALL resorts not just the one you're are a guest of. This was changed in 2007 as part of YOAMD. Hence the generic design. The only exception being CSR, they have their own mugs because the food court is independantly operated.

Don't forget the Year of a Million Dream mugs says "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased." I always assumed that to mean all the Resort counter services based on that specific wording and the fact no one could tell which Resort you purchased the mug.

The wording on the old Resort logo mugs said "Free refills until the end of your stay. Refills only at location purchased." So when you compare that to the saying on the Year of a Million Dream mugs you can tell the differences between them.

The CM's will straight up tell you that you can use your mugs at all resorts (except CSR) it was a perk of the YOAMD. I was told myself and there are numerous threads where people asked and were told the same thing.

Correct... I was thinking since YOAMD was over so was the deal with the mugs. :flower3:

I hope this thread doesn't start get into the "dreaded" mug debate and get closed.
I was just hoping maybe we could get get an update on what the new mugs may look like...

Just back today and I am sad to report they are still using the old 08 mugs and Xmas napkins, plates and cups all over the resorts and parks....TOTALLY TACKY

I too hope this thread doesn't get closed since I think we are all interested in what the new mugs will look like! I'm not trying to use old mugs. I don't want to talk about trying to use old mugs. I just want these celebration mugs to come out!!!!!!:cheer2:

We get there in one week at the Poly and then onto the GF. I'll check & see & report back!

and really MickeyNicki, old napkins? Makes me think that maybe this celebration theme will go for two years like the YOMD did as well.

I agree that it is tacky to use the Christmas napkins, plates, and cups when January is almost over! It's just a little thing, but Disney's magic is in getting the details right. I'm sure that there are places where Disney could donate the leftover Christmas products (or even save them for next Christmas) so they could pull out the new celebration theme which should have "magically" started on January 1st.

I think it'll be a 2 year theme, too. I think that the last 2 celebrations were 2 years each. :confused3 That's OK with me (having a 2 year theme), but when the theme is supposed to change, then the decorations, mugs, paper products, and monorail loop dialogue should change all together to celebrate the new theme in a timely manner.

Looks like we may overlap:cool1:
Lets try to sprinkle some pixie dust for decent weather:cheer2:
