2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

I was soo excited to print off my reservation confirmation today :cheer2: , it just seems more official now..so does the price :scared1: . DS is now an adult (he's 10), so we technically pay for 4 adults. Not much to do until the DDP restaurants get finalized..and figure out who wants to eat what  , what a chore.

Look at this DUCKIE jumping and dancing for joy! I have been waiting for what seems like forever (ok so it has been TEN LONG YEARS) to book this holiday and now I can. Just priced it out online and got this quote:
14 days
POR King bed
park hopping
Dining Plan

for a total of $4473.98

:donald:

:cloud9: Oh, to have 14 DAYS in WDW!!! How exciting!

When we went in Jan 2008 with some friends, their daughter was turning 3 the day we left. The CM's told her to wear her pin ALL the days we were there, so she did. It was so nice to have her first trip be so special - that pin gets you a lot of attention!

We were there for my 40th....the only thing I asked for.....and my son put up with all the hellos from the CM's and I actually was given 3 pins that day from different CM's that said Happy Birthday....If I had only known to wear it all week....who knows maybe we would have picked to be a Grand Marshall.

I'm so bummed! My husband has nixed our December 2009 plans. He says it's too soon to plan another trip when we haven't even gone on the first one yet. I tried explaining about the AAA discounts on the rooms and everything, but he was pretty adamant. Bear in mind he hardly EVER puts his foot down, so as disappointed as I am, I'm not going to push it.

Besides, we were planning to take our little girl out of school for five days in Dec 09, but I looked at the calendar for January 10, and if we wait until MLK week, she has TWO days off from school -- Monday and Friday -- so we could take her for a week in cooler weather with smaller crowds and only need to remove her for THREE days of school! Maybe it's a SIGN! ;) I know MLK weekend has become more crowded, but I imagine the rest of that week will be less so.

So...January 2010! Maybe! :)

:sad2: Just doesn't get it. My DH has given up trying to understand. He just goes with it.

Well, you stay here with us just in case he has a change of heart:shamrock:

Yeah, I don't think he has ANY IDEA what goes into planning a WDW trip. *sigh*

I'll keep hanging out -- as you say, he may come back from our trip with a change of heart!

Thanks so much. I'll make sure Meagan gets her button! For the fireworks pontoon; what's the cost of that? That sounds special! Again, thanks!

:confused3 I booked my package with Disney on Sunday and called AAA on Monday to see what their rates would be. I was actually quoted about $40 higher than Disney. Does this seem right? Plus I wanted the POFQ and they could not get me that only the CBR. So I am sticking with Disney, plus I will be using my reward points. Not sure if I could have used that with them anyways.

That is odd - maybe b/c it's Easter all the AAA rate-eligible rooms at POFQ were gone? So they were just giving Disney's price?? (Not sure about the $40, maybe a preferred room category?) I was able to figure out online exactly what my AAA package would cost (and it was right). I went into the Disney site and got a total package price for everything I wanted. Then I went back in and did just room-only price. I subtracted that from the package price to get (A). Then I took 10% off the room only price for (B)- 10% AAA discount on the room for Deluxe, regular season. (A) + (B)= AAA package price.

I booked our package Sunday as well; it turns out that it is cheaper for me to buy an annual pass, get the AP room rate + dining through Disney and then to buy the tickets (and AP pass) from AAA - we'll save $40 even WITH the price of the pass... it pays to check around!

We will be there the week after you to celebrate our oldest son's birthday....8 y.o. and I am going to try and book one of the pontoon boat/fireworks viewing things for that night. He can't wait to get to the Magic Kingdom so he can get his button (at the town hall) and wear it all day and have all the CM's say Happy Birthday!!
Thanks CHEPIC!

I've tried to reply to your responses to me but can't use your quote. I will certainly take all your advice and as you can see I got my profile and countdown banner too. I think I will also look into the pontoon boats and see the price. Went and filed all our passport information today before the rush so we will be all set. Looks like your wedding was a blast.

Thanks again,
Cheryl

I called and he didn't give me a quote, since it was too early to book, but I thought I would search around here for the price.

Yes, thank you, our vow renewal was a blast!!!!! I told my husband that we will have to do our 30th on the Mediter. cruise when the new ships are built!!

Just stopping by to do a little celebration. My countdown just entered a new number - only 399 more days!!!!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I told my DH the other day that this time next year I will probably start getting depressed. Thats what happened on the last trip. When it got so close I got down because all the planning was done and I knew it would soon be over. Anyone else get this way? I was still feeling that way when I got on the plane even on the way down. Luckily once I got there I became so excited again and it went away. I dread feeling that way again.

I'm the same way. I tried to make reservations Thursday night (I was away from Sun-Thurs), and I wasn't excited  . It felt strange, waiting soooooooooo long playing with my reservation, trying to figure out which dining plan to go with, etc. Making the actual reservation seemed strange to me. It didn't matter, though, because my choice of hotel had NO ROOMS available (I decided on CSR, which is a convention hotel, and some company booked ALL STANDARD rooms). Now, I don't even want to make my reservation (I'm pushing my date back to end of July). I know that I'll get out of this funk, but right now, I'm sad :sad2: . I even mentioned to dh that maybe we should push the trip back to 2010. Needless to say, he grew excited, and said "If we don't go til 2010, we can stay deluxe."

I think I enjoy the anticipation more than anything else. What kind of weirdo am I :confused3 ?

I got so bad the week before our last trip that I cried almost everyday (only telling you guys that because you will understand). It wasn't tears of happiness it was total depression. I dread when that feeling comes back next year.

Wow, so I'm not the only one? :rolleyes1

Right now I'm sort of in a funk because the excitement of booking is over and I have at least four months until I can book ADR's! :sad2:

I need more active planning NOW!!!!

My next planning step is our airfare and that will be available to book in October. I am afraid this year of booking flights because of the cost and then the worry if the airline will mess with our flights too much.

I understand the planning depression. I have not been on the boards or posted for some time now. We have been super busy with kids baseball (last games today), work, and our 4 day trip to Chicago. It was a fabulous time. On the way home I was thinking, our next vacation will be WDW. October 09 doesn't seem so far away now, not since time goes by so fast. I have really missed the dis boards though and hope to dive back in soon to our planning. I really need to crunch some numbers and see if an AP will be the best deal for us because of the discount on food. Anyway, happy planning everybody and enjoy the tickers moving along;)
