2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Hi all! We were fortunate to go in March and December of 2007 so we decided (okay Dh decided) to put off our next trip until 2009. This will be our 10th anniversary year also :lovestruc I am so loss at when to actually go:

1. We love love the Atlanta Braves and would love to see them again but I don't want to go past mid March.
2. Our youngest turns 3 March 24th and then we pay for her!
3. My oldest dd will turn 10 August 5th and then we pay adult for her!
4. We love love going in December. The low crowds and decorations were awesome!
5. We might be starting the school year after labor day in Fall of 09. So I could maybe hit Sept...see MNSSHP right? And maybe hit a free dining?

UGH!!!!!!!!! :confused3 So I am taking the next few months (until prices come out) to decide when we are going.

Next time we go, both kids will be considered adults. Adult tickets, adult DDP :scared1: .

Thanks!! He (Adam) took me to Disney World for a week... did it on the last night. We had dinner at the California Grill on the top floor of the Contemporary Resort...overlooking the castle. Amazing!!

He planned to do it on the observation deck during the fireworks, but it rained... and there were too many people. He wanted to go see the Epcot show at 9.. but we had only 30 minutes to make it... so I tried to convince him to just go back to the resort (we had a long drive ahead of us of the next morning... he doesn't fly anymore). He insisted that we make it because he knows how much I love it. Epcot is both of our favorite parks.

We got there just in time to watch it... and he wanted to wait for the crowds to leave before we left... he hates waiting in lines for things. His plan B was to propose in "Paris." He said because he doesn't fly and he thought it would be funny like "ha ha Adam proposed in Paris and he doesn't fly." :)

So before we went walk around he wanted to sit down for a while. So we go sit on this empty bench... right in the middle... and this elderly fellow comes sit right beside me. For like 20 minutes...! He finally leaves and I pull out my camera to take some pictures. I decided to take a video on my camera because it was our last night and whatnot. So I ask him.. ."Adam, what was your favorite part of the trip?" And he looks around (to see if the guy was coming back) and says "Probably....what I'm about to do... " And got down on one knee and proposed. :) So it's on video.... And although I put my camera down because I was freaking out... you can still hear everything! You can also hear me say "wrong handdd" when he goes to put it on my right hand. :) It was pretty much perfect.

We stayed at Animal Kindgom Lodge... it was wonderful! I was so sad to come back to reality, but the pretty ring on my finger made it a lot easier to brave the 12 hr car ride home.

How romantic!!!!! You've found yourself a keeper :thumbsup2 !

ilovetheworld - that sounded perfect! so great that you got it on video - even if a lot of it is just the sound!

I'm so ready to start planning for our mardi gras 2009 trip! I signed up for Tour Guide Mike this year, & I'm watching for the FEB 2009 calendar to come out. I think I'll go ahead and reserve our room soon, and add a package to our ressie later. We always stay at ASMovies because our boys love the Toy Story buildings. They would be devastated if I booked anywhere else. My friend and her family are planning to go at the same time, so we're thinking of linking ressie's to try to get rooms near each other. She gets just as excited as I do about WDW, but she gets to do all the girly stuff with her daughter. I don't have any girls, so it will be fun to experience some of the princess stuff with them next year.

Hey fellow 09'ers - been MIA for a little bit but I'm back with great news!!! We had planned to go back May 1-8th, 2009 but just decided we are moving it to March 2009!! I'm pretty sure it will be the 13-20th so that we can get the beginning of the Flower and Garden Festival. My dad and DH want to see some of the Braves Expo games which begin the end of February. I'm just worried about the Mid March spring break crowds... I've heard horror story after horror story about this mid march.... Hopefully with easter in mid april next year it won't be so bad... What do you guys think?? I'm so excited!! My ticker is actually under a year now!!

We just went March 8-15th and it was pretty crowded but I understand that Tour Guide Mike has planning strategies to deal with the crowds and might be worth signing up for to avoid a lot of crowds and get the most out of your holiday. He does charge a fee but I hear it is a really good service.

We were there those dates (give or take a day) during 2007. Of course to see our beloved Braves (don't forget to watch the game tonight!!) and it was perfect. We are TGM'ers and while I saw crowds I never felt I was a part of them.;) We did have our car with us but we attempted to take the buses the first day from ASMo but that was to crowded. So I am not sure if our timing was off or if the buses were bad the whole week. :confused3

Hello to all of my 2009 friends. It has been awhile since I have posted to say hello. I have been dealing with pnenomia all week and am finally feeling better, still just soooo tired.
I love reading all of your stories and looking at your plans. From reading several of the boards, I have learned that my first choice of October 3-10, 2009 could be a busy time of year. I guess disney never has an empty time though. Also, I am thinking about starting on my masters degree, which could mean I would have to push my trip to the summer months to avoid missing class.
I still have to see how many family members are on board for going on our trip. There could be 10 of us or there could only by 5 of us. If all members go, I am seriously considering renting a home at Windsor Hills. Those places look beautiful and very functional. I am just afraid I would miss the Disney Feel.
All advice about a large group trip is appreciated. I have never done one before. Thanks!:goodvibes

This waiting until August for the packages for 2009 to be released is about to kill me. It just doesn't seem real that we are going until I have booked.

Same here!! I am just ready for some more 2009 info - package prices, any changes to the dining plan?, park hours, any theme?? All that kind of stuff!!

I just booked my rooms with WDW for April 2009. Of course, they charge the highest 2008 rate and then will adjust in August. The cast member was very helpful and told me to call back to put the package on the reservation. We are going in November 2008 so I am leaning to get an anuual pass. Does anyone have any tidbits for me on annual passes?

Hmmm. I tried to make a room only ressie online after reading your post...but it will still only take reservations through December 31 2008. :confused3

Stacey- you can do room-only ressies 500 days in advance I think it is, but you have to do them over the phone.

I kind of think it's silly that they wait until August to release SO MUCH info - room prices, package info, etc. I mean it's fine for me, going in May, but for January travelers?? That's not much lead time! And, it's after their 180 for ADR's. I think that should be the bare minimum - all the info out at least 180 days before the start of the year, but oh well!!

I'm even a little nervous about the park hours calendars - I know they're typically released 6 months in advance (prior to ADRs), but since we're going on the 1st of May - I hope they are out so I can have at least a day to plan/reconfigure as needed before calling.

I'm glad I checked this thread today :thumbsup2
I just called in and made our room only reservation for the ASMu family suite!
I had a feeling the website wasn't giving me the whole story...I'd hate it if I waited until August and then found the suites sold out :scared1:

Yeah, I may do that - I heard it shouldn't be NEAR as crowded as it was this year since Easter isn't until the 2nd week in April for 2009 - I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

My dad and DH are sooo excited to see the braves!!! This will be my mom and dad's first trip to disney ever - I can't wait - they are already so excited!

This waiting until August for the packages for 2009 to be released is about to kill me. It just doesn't seem real that we are going until I have booked.

Ditto - I'm trying to wait patiently, but COME ON AUGUST!

I think that was a good decision!! The suites are so limited, I wouldn't wait, either! I have not booked room-only and am just waiting for the pkgs, b/c we just want the standard, garden-view at the Poly during a non-busy time. Just doesn't seem to be much point. "Special" rooms or peak times - definitely book room-only first to get your preference!

I agree. I'm in complete limbo until 2009 info comes out. My family just rolls their eyes at all the talking and planning I'm doing already :rotfl: . I' also anxious for a new ticker, but I have decided to wait until we are actually booked :) .
