2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Thanks for the welcome. We watched our planning dvd this past weekend and DS is sooo excited already. Don't know how we will wait for another year and a half!

Welcome! You found the right thread because we will all be going crazy together for the next year. I just have to remember that in August I will be booking, then a couple months later I will book our airfare, then comes the ADR's, then paying the trip off, then the 45 day mark, then the final documents will arrive, then it is time to go!! Those are all little things I look forward to.

DH and I went to Disney Store yesterday, picked up a few things, 60% off. Going keeps me in the mood and they constantly played the Year of a Million Dreams on the screen. Ah, memories. I broke down and sent for the free planning dvd, not that I need another, but it will keep the excitment going until I can book.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!! Everyone here is just so great and very helpful. Only 11 more months!!! :woohoo:

...soo I started a new job this semester giving out parking tickets on campus (I know... everybody hates me, but whatever)
Anyways, I was working with this girl one night, and she said something about how her wedding plans weren't working out... She's been engaged for a year now, and has been planning for a while, but she's been having a hard time figuring out where to have her ceremony and reception. Everywhere she looks at is either too small, or too expensive etc... Anyways, then she said "but I already know where I'm going on my honeymoon." I said "Where!?" and she said "DISNEY WORLD"
Also, it just so happens that she's planning on being there the same week I'm planning on being there next year. The first week of January 2009. Of course she's already actually engaged, but that's really a technicality. It was a nice bonding moment.
Yay for Jan 2009 Disney Honeymoons!!!

Hey there

Just joining the 2009 super planners. ;) For the first time ever, I have multiple WDW trips planned. In 2008: June 8-20, November 8-15 and in 2009 January 7-15th for the WDW Marathon.

Woohoo!

I'm just as excited for the 2009 trip as I am for the one coming up in June!

Welcome to the board :welcome:. That is a lot of trips planned, I am so jealous ;) . Seriously, this is a great place to hang out and keep the Disney magic going :thumbsup2

WooHoooo.... The April 2008 code was just released - it's the Park Hopper and Water Park & More ticket upgrade AND a small room & dining plan discount. YAY!! Fingers crossed it will be the same code next year for our April 2009 trip!! That makes me sooooo happy!!

Oh my! I have a lot of list-updating to do! I'll do it later this morning.

I got the new discount info in the mail the other day and kept teasing DH that I'd leave it out on the counter so he can look at it cause I know he wants to go. :rotfl: Riiiight. Since I have a cruise booked for June, I guess I can let this one go! I do hope next year's offer extends into June like it did last year.

TGM info question!

How far in advance do you get the park info from TGM? I'm asking because I'm planning on making ADR's depending on which park we are going to do that day. I don't want to plan (for example: Crystal Palace on a day he says MK is a no-no). Does his info come out early enough to make ADR's?

Thanks!!!

I'm pretty sure it came out about 6 months in advance. I know I made my ADR's at 6 months out and I had my days planned, so his info must have been out. If it's not, you can use the previous year's days to pre-plan, then adjust accordingly when the current year comes out. If I remember correctly the days were pretty much the same year-to-year.

I am having a hard time trying to decide what to do. Maybe you guys could give me your thoughts.

I plan on using a TA again just because I like them looking for the codes and doing all the leg work for me. The TA I used last trip was with another agency and she did a great job. She left that agency and went to another "Disney Authorized" place but I have never heard of it and when I have posted on the boards if anyone had no one has. She has contacted me and knows when we are planning on going. Before I knew she was still doing this I had planned on using Dreams Unlimited because one of this board and 2nd I like they make your ADR's for you. A month ago I decided I was going to stick with the old TA because she did do a great job. The more I look into that agency I think she pretty much is on her own with just their backing maybe. So that got me thinking what happens if she leaves or if she gets sick or something. I don't think there is someone there to quickly pick up where she left off and help us. I guess I am just feeling guilty after making her think I would be using her again and then not.

After reading the above over I think I answered my own question. If I am that worried than I shouldn't use her and go with Dreams. I don't want to risk anything with my vacation.

Okay, I'm snowed in, and getting bored :surfweb: . Got to thinking about summer, and the fact that I am as pale as can be. I am looking for a really good self-tanner. Anyone have a favorite?

Sorry you are snowed in! How much snow have you gotten? Break out the s'mores, hot chocolate and DISNEY movies! :goodvibes

I've been on a quest to find a good self tanner for the past few years too, but have come to the conclusion that this whitey is just going to have to remain white and use plenty of sunscreen. I've tried Jergen's, Nutrogena, and several others. Most made me orangey, and the others made my skin feel really hot and itchy. It's possible that there was an ingredient in some that I am allergic to, though I never did know for sure. I've tried tanning beds in the past and while I did get some color, since we don't know the long-lasting effects of them, I just don't feel good about them. Maybe me just being paranoid? Not worth the risk, IMO. I'm trying to embrace my paleness ... though it's not an easy task. :rolleyes1 ;)

Enjoy your time at home!

Hi Everyone!! Well I am getting a bit antsy... How far in advance can I book my January 5 - 12 09 trip?? I don't really know where to start. I know I want to stay at the poly just not sure what to do first. I tried to book online but no go just yet.. thanks for any help.

I think we are at 8" right now, but it has been coming down since 5 this morning, and is supposed to go for at least a few more hours. I am ready for Spring :flower3: !!!

I love tanning beds, but am worried about the damage they cause, so I have promised myself that I'll stop ;) . I usually only go 2 times a year: December (for our yearly trip to Great Wolf), and June (for the summer), but I really need to find an alternative. I tried some of the drugstore brands, but they didn't do anything for me, either. I bought one on QVC a few years ago, but don't remember the name of it. I need a little bit of color!

If I remember correctly, packages come out in early August. I *think* you can book a room at any time, at the current year's rate, but when next year's prices come out, they adjust it.

Package pricing usually comes out sometime in August. You can either wait until that happens or you can book the room only portion now and add the package when the prices are released.

I'm not much help b/c I use AAA. But, I would go with Dreams. Better to feel more confident and have a great vacation than to make a TA happy.

I don't really like the look of self-tanners, but I do like the moisturizers that add a light, gradual color. I started using one a couple years ago, in the weeks before summer, so I wasn't quite so white when I first put the bathing suit on. I used it last spring before Disney, then with the tan I got at Disney- I was set for summer!! I use the Jergen's Natural Glow - they have a Body and separate Face formula. I use both!

We're going back in April of 2009. I despeately wanted to go in 2008, but hubby said no. We went once in 2006 & twice in 2007, so we have to wait. This year we're doing a week in Gatlinburg and a week on the beach in Florida to make up for it.

I spoke to a CM today. She said right now you can only book through March 2008. She expected I could book for April at the beginning of March 2008. We usually stay in Value resorts and I think this trip, we'll try to get a family suite at ASMu. Of couse, at $220 per night, that might be out of our price range. Luckily fo me, I'll have a full year to pay for it!!

regarding self-tanners: I've used Jergen's Natural Glow lotion as well. It darkens your skin gradually as you use it and they make formulations for fair, medium & dark skin tones. I get complimented on my tan all the time.
