2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Sorry - I just had to vent to people who'd understand :goodvibes

And CAN totally relate! This is why we don't tell anyone until just before we go -- that, and if we tell our kids too soon, it takes an eternity to get here!

Yes, we do without other things to be able to afford to go to WDW -- but that is our CHOICE -- not a choice that other ppl in our families would make -- which, in reality, is just fine with us. We do like our families, but vacationing with them -- no thank you. We see them on almost every other vacation we take -- WDW our "just the 4 of us" alone time. :goodvibes

Whew! Guess I needed to vent too! Thanks!

Hi, everyone!:wave2:
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! We kept it pretty simple. We had some Mexican food and came home and had chocolate cake and ice cream...I did not eat a lot----thank goodness! But I feel like I ate a brick.:guilty:

DH and I never exchange V-day gift because our anniversary is 10 days after and we usually do something big. I know we are going somewhere this year that requires flying...I just don't know where. He is keeping it a surprise.

Planning wise for our 09 trip is kinda still up in the air because MIL has not told me yay or nay if she and my BIL are going to join us. I am giving her until June of this year to let me know for sure....if she hasn't decided than I am just booking without her.:rolleyes1

I do like looking on the Dis, reading my 08 Passporter and I have TGM. I use his services for all of our trips and he is 100% right on! I love his best parks for each day. We have never had issues with crowds.:thumbsup2

So, my MIL is visiting and we were talking about Disney because I was showing her our pictures from last years trip. And she made some snide comment about how Disney is too expensive and that I had better enjoy my Disney trips now - as if to say that once DH and I have a baby we won't be going back to Disney.

Screw that! If DH agrees to go to Disney every other year, heck yes we are going!

Honestly it's not that much, and it's so much fun...

Sorry - I just had to vent to people who'd understand :goodvibes

She's SO wrong. First of all - before they turn 3 you won't have to pay for their tickets and they can eat from your plate if you do the dining plan. Also - our twins are 4 years old...we've brought them 4 times since they were 2 1/2 years old - and we generally stay for 6 to 7 days. And we are by no means wealthy people. We just save money all year long, watch for discounts, stay in the value resorts. Just let MIL's comments role off your back, and know that she's wrong. You will LOVE bringing your children to WDW. I think it's even more fun seeing the parks through their eyes! :wizard:

I love the Unofficial Guide - I've read my 2007 one cover to cover a couple of times :lmao: I can't wait until the 2009 edition comes out.

I really like the Passporter too - I'll probably get a 2009 one of those too.

I am sorry that your MIL said that. :sad2: Why do people have to need to spout off about what other people do on vacation??! I mean, seriously! I am lucky that I just get picked on by my brothers. Other than that, no one has ever said anything about us going to Disney. My DH makes comments here and there about possibly going somewhere else besides Disney on vacation...but now that DD talks non-stop about WDW and DL---he know that he has no choice. Plus, it is a blast with kids...you will probably go more when you DO have kids.:woohoo:

People's comments regarding vacations drive me nuts!! People have commented that we must be rich or have money to blow b/c we stayed at the Poly and are returning in 2009. BIL is notorious for these kinds of comments. NO, we are NOT rich, by any means. We've made choices (building a house WELL below our means, not eating out often, not buying fancy electronic equipment, etc. etc.) that allow us to take vacations each year. That is a priority for us, we've chose to allocate our money for it. We also work hard for our money (unlike BIL who has NO ambition and SIL who does nothing, LOL! They also chose to build a house they could barely afford). I don't understand people's need to judge about others' vacations!!

Hi All! I just booked our Jan 09 trip this week and am so excited! It will be my first trip to WDW-- DD's too, of course! :) She'll be 3, so I think she will have SO much fun! And I KNOW DH & I will!

You know, I've come to realize that some people just aren't Disney people :scared1:. For what ever reason they just aren't interested and only give lame excuses why they aren't..."oh, I don't like my vacation to be that planned" WHAT??????? We've mentioned several times to my DH's cousin and his family to come with us in 2009 so we can do a Grand Gathering, but they just aren't interested. We pretty much don't tell anyone that we are going until we're ready to leave. They just don't know what they are missing. My kids are getting older and time is ticking away, I need to go as often as I can.

I hear ya load and clear. I am so cheap in order for us to take nice holidays and not break the bank.

Funny how people will spend $$$ for a fancy coffee every day but won't spend $ for a nice vacation that everyone will remember for ever.

It really is their loss. You only have one life to live and should enjoy every minute you can.

We just lost a friend this week - would have been 88 in August - and she traveled almost right to the end of her life. At 82 she went to India and rode the elephants and such....everyone remember how well she lived her life. She loved the idea that we travelled with our children and encouraged us to do more. Your BIL will not have "lived" his life unless he learns to enjoy it and let others enjoy theirs.

Rest in Peace Burnice!

Hi, Everyone!:wave2:
I'm so glad I found so many other DISer's planning for 2009!! We are going in February 2009 for DS's 10th Birthday...so we promised DD we'd spend her 10th Birthday at Disney, too! (so we'll be planning for Nov/Dec 2010, as well:thumbsup2 ) We went to Disney for the very first time in October 2007...and we had such a wonderful time that I'm ready to jump into planning again! Looking forward to many hours on the DIS!:surfweb:

That is what we are doing this time around also. My parents know about it because they won't give us a hard time but my DH's side of the family we probably won't even mention it until next summer. It is just easier that way.

I sure wish August would get here so I can book. Maybe they will surprise us and release the packages earlier. I know don't get my hopes up.

I wouldn't get my hopes up about the packages, that would be too good to be true.

DH and I work hard all year and frankly we deserve a nice vacation. We could probably go again this year, but I'm set to stay for 10 days in 2009. I'd rather wait and stay longer than stay only for 3 or 4 days at a time. You know it's ironic, the same people who say "you're going to WDW again?" are the same people who take the same vacation themselves every year. Like DH cousin, they are going to the same beach, same condo rental, the same everything, yet we are the ones with a "vacation problem" :confused3 .

I know how much we enjoy ourselves and that's all that matters, shame on everyone else ;) .

2008 package prices were released Aug 5th, may I should make a countdown ticker for Aug, 5th 2008 :lmao:

Oh I sure hope it's August 5th or around then!! I really want to have ours booked before we leave for Myrtle Beach on August 15th. I already have the $200 deposit set aside from this year's tax return. The balance will be paid with basically all of next year's return!!

I'm glad this was started. We will be at WDW in July 2009 and planning on staying at CBR.:hourglass I also can't wait until we can book this trip in the summer. We will also be in Myrtle Beach this year in July.:woohoo:

Hi, everybody!!

It has been super busy around here! Today I went thrift store hunting and found a set of really nice Winnie the Pooh figurines. There was Winnie, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet and Christopher Robin. They looked like the classic Pooh style. Anywho...I bought them for $2.00 each. I buy things like this to sale on ebay. I checked when we got home and this type of figurine sales for 60-100 bucks per figurine!!! I was soooo stoked and glad I bought them. I almost didn't! More moolah for Disney.:cool1:

I am sorry for not keeping up on the yahoo weight loss group. It has been crazy with school and work. I finally checked my email and I have some catching up to do. I even missed my WW meeting this morning.:sad2:
I think I have lost some weight cuz my clothes don't feel as tight. We will find out next weekend when I weigh in.

:welcome: to all the newcomers! As my bro would say, this thread is the biz-omb!

candizfan-sorry to hear about your friend. She sounds like she loved life and lived it to the fullest.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! That is awesome! I wish I could say the same. DH and I went out to dinner tonight and we shared a delicious dessert.......I just know when I wake up my scale is not going to be nice to me ;) !

Not sure if this is allowed, but, here goes: I have a pair of Disney Crocs that I'd like to GIVE away (I figured that if I was giving them away, it'd be okay, and Dis would be okay with it).

They are Toddler size 6/7, yellow with blue strap, Mickey cut outs. My dd grew out of them, and I was hoping someone here would have some use for them. They are in very good condition. Any takers? PM me and they are yours!

Shannon

Thanks everyone :D

My husband and I were talking today and we might postpone our next trip until 2010 which is a bummer... but if we postpone until 2010 we can become 'once a year Disney trip people' which has me so very excited.

Plus he mentioned that we could probably swing becoming DVC members :goodvibes

So, I'll still be hanging out here, but might not be going in 2009

Thanks! I was so sure that I would feel bloated from all the diet soda and salty food...but drinking water helps lots! Good luck on the scale!:wizard:

That is a nice offer and I am sure you are fine to post that. I think if you were trying to sell them than there would be a problem.:)
I love the Disney Crocs! So cute!

Thanks everyone :D

2010 is not that far away AND you might join the DVC!!:cool1: I would wait an extra year for that, too!

Eoywin - as a DVC owner, waiting is worth it since it will make it more managable to go once a year.

Good luck.
