2009 DDP, DxDP and QS plans - Everything you always wanted to know

ok we are a group of 10 adults traveling to Disney, as individual couples, a total of five rooms. when we all meet for meals how will tips be figured? I know it is 18% auto for groups of 6 so is each couple/group required to pay 18% of their bills or will it be figured on 18% of the total bill of the whole table.

If you split the checks, it will be 18% on each check.

Tipping should be discussed on the Tipping Info Thread, which is stuck to the top of the main Restaurants board.

Yes, you can do it. Tell your server that you will pay for the meal with cash.

A well thought out answer. Thanks!
We'll do the best we can while we are there. : )

I'm so glad this question was brought up. We are going during free dining and I have to keep track of 5 adults and 4 kids too
(2 of the kids are 13 so I guess really I have 7 adult meals and 2 children meals to keep track of)! Since there are two families (I'm the only one who has ever been to WDW before thus deemed in charge of everything) that will be eating at different times for a couple meals/snacks/etc. what if we get to the last day and there is a discrepancy...are they going to want me to have receipts for every meal to figure it out? I really don't want to keep track of anything while I'm there...I just want to have fun!

I think...correct me if I am wrong someone...you can get a print out each day at your resort, and check against that day's receipts. That would help.

Why not keep the receipts? You won't need them unless a discrepancy crops up.

My thing is just trying to keep up with cs and ts receipts for 9 people/2 separate families over 8 days is a lot to keep track of but I don't want to get to the last day and then find out we have too many child credits left and not enough adult or something. This is my first time using the DDP so I just didn't know how they keep track of things or if they really except us to.

You will need to keep track of the children's CS credits. Everything else is separated and the balance will be reflected on your receipts. As for what to do if a discrepancy comes up - then you might need to show where the discrepancy exists, and throwing the receipts into a bag in case you need them is not really having to keep track of them - but you will have them if there is a problem.

I think I will just tell everyone to keep all their receipts then at the end of everyday we can toss them all in one bag. I guess I was thinking more of having to keep everything separate and organized but you're right...I really don't need to bc it is more of a just in case thing. Surely tracking 2 kids won't be too hard!
Thanks...I'm still new at all this!

WOW!! What a thread...so much information, it is starting to blurr together!!!
I do have a question, didn't see it listed, but I could have missed it - I am sure it's out there several times....

When visiting a C/S location, are all food items available to dining plan folks (free dining). For example: I saw a menu for Sommerfest, all the items had the little logo next to it, except the brats and one other item. All the deserts, drinks had the dining plan logo. Or are those items with the logo considered snack credits?

Just want to make sure we don't short change ourselves (LOL)!
I know about the restrictions at the t/s restaurants, however, I am confused about C/S. Thanks!

The items with the DDP logo are available as snacks. You should be able to order anything (with extremely rare exceptions) from a CS location, as long as it fits the "entree or combo" + beverage + dessert entitlements.

Hi sorry to bother everyone.

Just wondered I read that Chef Mickeys do a non-character meal......is this the one that included on the DDP or is the character one included aswell?

Thanks

Character meals are included on the basic dining plan not the quick service plan. Chef Mickey's serves breakfast and dinner no lunch but you could go the the new restaurant The Wave which lots of guest love. They serve lunch there but there will be no characters there, and it will be less pricey than the California Grill which also serves lunch .

Thanks Faldred!!

None of the Swan/Dolphin restaurants (including bluezoo) accept the Disney Dining plan. The Swan and Dolphin are not Disney resorts, and they have not contracted with Disney to accept DDP.
