***2009-2010*** cheer parent thread!!

Well, D is going to be a freshman cheerleader. The check writing begins tomorrow.

At our HS, the girls have to go in the week before tryout camp for a tumbling certification. If you can't do all the skills from the list, you aren't eligible to try out.

How exciting for her! I have to say that I am amazed by the cost of cheerleading, well really almost any sport.

I wish she had stopped growing. They do re-use uniforms, etc. for a few years, but I think she'll outgrow them. I'll ask for deep hems in the skirts.

We'll be in
We're going to be in Charlotte next week, too! Well, our Junior 2 and Senior 3 teams are. We are making up a competition they missed in December. I wish our Youth 1 were going. They really are the bomb for a level 1 team. We have 7 flyers that do chin-chins! Tell me again who your team is and what levels you have so I can cheer for you. I can't remember everyone's team. We have a junior flyer with mono so had a substitute a girl. I don't know how those kids can learn a new routine in just a week!

Ok, now I feel like we are following you! We are also going to MB in April - the 10th I think. We are the team with the dorky parents wearing flame hats - our team is Carolina Crossfire.

:rotfl: How funny is that! My girls are with Cheer Caroline Allstars from Hillsborough NC. You?? We will be at Small Gym on Sunday and then Blast from the Past in MB on the 18th. I'll have to figure out how to post a picture of me or my girls. DD 9 is on Mini Level 1 Cheer and Mini HH dance team and DD 13 is on Jr. Level 4 and Sr Cheer. Level 4 and Jr. HH dance. :)

Today my dd had her last performance for this season. She is on the special needs team right now but she loves cheer so much we are going to try and move her to the show team and then up through the different levels. She hates that she has no more performances and has to take a summer break in not too long.

If you are interested here is her last performance for this year. She is the cute tiny blonde that kind of looks like a white blob! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_7qHgzxpd0

Thank you all for letting me brag on my little one on this thread. She has found her calling I think and I have to be honest and say that even though I never ever thought I would be a cheerleader mom I am proud to be one!

Too cute! They all look adorable. I'm glad she had a good time and wants to cont. And I know how you feel about being a cheer mom. I was SOOO NOT into cheerleading as a kid. My thing was dance. Now I have 2 that do both. LOL And I'm pretty sure my DD 2 will eventually as well. :goodvibes

Hehe, I am a dance mom too! My oldest does ballet and tap and she will add jazz in the fall. Then Madison does cheerleading, she currently does ballet but wants to quit and do more cheerleading stuff. Then my third oldest may join the special needs cheer team or we may put her in gymnastics in teh fall, she is only 3 right now though.

Well DD13 started at 3 with ballet and tap. Stayed with that til 5 before adding gymnastics AND cheer. By six it was strictly cheerleading but only for a Pop Warner team. By 8 she moved to competitive cheer and dance (pom and hip hop) and she stayed there ever since. DD9 always started with competitive cheer and dance (hip hop) and LOVES it. DD13 will be taking a year off next season as she will start HS. She loves basketball too and may try out for the team. She's at that age where she's doing other school stuff too that's stressing her schedule so she decided she'd take a year off. The other one would NEVER take time from cheering. :rotfl:

We are with Carolina Crossfire Cheer in Columbia, SC. DD7 and DD10 are on Youth level 1 and DD10 and DS13 are on Junior level 2. We also have a Senior level 3. This is our gym's first or second year - depending on how you look at it. The coach and another owner were together last year (in a gymnastics facility) but long story short, they split. We kept the name and our coach opened an all cheer gym. So, this is the first year she has had they all cheer gym.

OMG...competition in 5 days and we've had 2 more injuries....a torn ACL and a sprained ankle. What to do, what to do. Please pray for our Jr. team this Sun. :goodvibes

Cool! I'll keep an eye out on the schedule to see when your teams are competiting this Sun.

I'm so sorry to hear of all the injuries lately. It's close to the end of the season and the girls are feeling the wear and tear. All your girls are in my prayers!

As much fun as it's been, I'll be glad when we get a break from this. My daughter is on two cheer teams, one middle school rec center team (that I coach) and a senior level 3 all star team. We are just whipped from the schedule. The rec center team has one more game and our big "Cheer Night" exhibition show and the All Star team has two more competitions left. Then it's over for just a little while. Whew! Let's pray everyone stays healthy and unbroken for the rest of the season!

I love the lull between try outs and camp, before things hit full steam again. I'm so looking forward to May and June!

What a beautiful family! How awful to have all those injuries. Our seniors are tentatively scheduled for 2:52 and our Juniors are at 4:28. My DH will be wearing a goofy red flame hair wig - like Heat Miser from the Christmas movie so we will be easy to spot. Actually, he only wears it when sitting in priority seating or walking around. I can't believe he wears that thing. He is normally so quiet!

All the girls (and guys) approaching the end of the season, our thoughts are with you also. Practice safe and stay healthy!

My niece cross-competed on two teams this year. I am exhausted from that schedule (she is pretty much my 2nd daughter as my brother is a single dad), so I can't imagine doing two separate teams on different programs.

We are done for the season!

Some of our teams are heading to Anaheim this weekend and the unlimited coed and small senior 5 teams are going to Worlds. But my girls two teams are done.

We finished off the season on a high note this past weekend at the regional Cheersport. We took 15 teams and came home with 13 firsts and 2 seconds. We also came away with the "best of level 1, 2, 4 and 5" (don't have a level 3 team, but that went to an amazing team from another great gym in our state.) Not a bad end to our regional competitions.

We have Spring break off now and the gym will be closed when the two teams head to Worlds, but then we hit it again on April 28th when tryouts start.

Although, dd decided to keep up her privates, so we were back yesterday for an hour. I don't think we will ever get away from the gym :goodvibes

GOOD LUCK to everybody finishing up the 2009 - 2010 season. May it end on a high note for everybody and everybody stay healthy!

What a way to finish the season! Congrats, congrats, congrats. Enjoy your break. :)

Love your family photos!!! Good luck to all as the season winds down. :)

We too are finishing up with one more comp 3/20 & 3/21 in Detroit. After that - a small break with just clinics while the senior teams travel down to Worlds in Orlando. I would so love to go down and watch that comp someday! :) How fun that would be - and stressful too, I bet!

Just sharing a shot from this season. My dd had a broken finger back in October - but even still - it's been a good run! :)

I wanted to thank everyone for the support. I have not been on here much, we have been so busy, but DD tried out this past Friday night to be a middle school cheerleader and she made it. :cheer2: We are so excited!! We will be attending Cheer Camp in Panama City this June. Anyone else going?
