Well, the 2008 pricing is out.

It is apparent that Disney is taking full advantage of their new reservations software. In addition to the standard pricing "seasons", Disney now has different pricing for:

Weekend dates
Holiday dates

It appears for 2008 you will pay one price for Sunday - Thursday and a higer price for Friday - Saturday.

Additionally certain holiday wekends have higher pricing,

I started to update my FW web page (link below) this morning, but due to the new pricing structure it is going to take me a couple of days to finish it.

I for one am not surprised. Many campgrounds charge higher prices for weekends and holidays. I am surprised it has taken Disney this long to adapt.

Tim,

Wow! about time Disney caught up with the software. It's been a nice run. After the trip this coming December I might not make it back for a while.

Love your website, BTW. Plus my brother and his family lives in "Big Shanty" so we see them frequently and then go by the museum to see the General.

Thanks for the update!

Bama ED ;)

I've been surprised also. I have worked several trips where we checked in during the last few days of Value and coasted into a higher season.

I can't tell from the price lists I've seen if this has gone away, but it will be my assumption that with the new software you will have individual day pricing rather than pricing based on the day you check in.

I tried to reserve for June 2008 online and it told me sorry there's nothing available at Fort Wilderness for a campsite. I just called in and got my reservations. Never had much luck with the online reservations myself. I also got the AAA rate from them on the phone too. I got a 15% discount with it. Can't go wrong with the AAA. I have saved more than it cost me every year. The countdown is on!:cool1:

What I find really strange is for the deluxe hotels..the prices for the weekends didn't go up unless it was a holiday weekend. Why are they being priced differently than all the others?:confused3

I'm paying a whopping $2.00 more a night for my full hookup site in January for Friday night (Friday before MLK Weekend) vs the rest of the nights (week prior)!

Does anyone know if they are still maintaining the length of stay pricing policy? If you check in at the lower rate, that's the rate you pay for the entire reservation?

If you haven't been to The Fort since last spring - you're in for a surprise. They have cleared out all the scrub vegetation in the loops. In otherwords, they have removed the "Wilderness" from Ft. Wilderness. The 1100, 1200 & 1300, 1600, 1700 loops all look naked now. The 1100 (my fav) is the worst. They used to have privacy in the back side of the loop from the cabins in 2100. Now, you can look right into the cabin windows. I don't know what's up with that??!!:confused3

How many of you recall the "Winter Settler Rates" and the days that they used to stick a note on your camper inviting you to extend your stay a nite or two? Ah...the good ol' days!:rolleyes1

No, new for the 2008 rate year is individual day pricing. Not only do you have a "season" price, but you have additional charges for Friday/Saturday nights as well as several holiday periods. So, if you were staying in a Full Hook Up site from February 14, 2008 - February 28, 2008 this is how your rates would look:
  • February 14 Peak season (S - T) price, $82 per night
  • February 15 - 17 Presidents day holiday price, $85 per night
  • February 18 - 21 Peak season (S - T) price, $82 per night
  • February 22 - 23 Peak season (F - S) price, $84 per night
  • February 24 - 28 Peak season (S - T) price, $82 per night

Disney has always found ways of closing loopholes especially if they think the loopholes are an extra way to make money. And once a loophole is closed and covered it never opens again. I always hear that they are going to try something new and if it does not work they will bring back to old way. Well the old way never seems to make it back. I know that Disney is a corporation that has to answer to its shareholders, so I don't fault them for making money. But as long as the Fort stays booked at it's current 80 to 90 percent I would not bet on seeing the old rating system back, ever. I look for them to start charging for the nightly sing-a-long and movie in a year or two. Disney and Free or not two words that are usally in the same sentence.
