2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

I just got the email from Disney about how to get the special medal for the coast-to-coast challenge. You have to wear a wristband for the race and then you can exchange it for the special medal at the end.

I'm getting fired up now that the race is close!

DISNEY'S COAST TO COAST RACE CHALLENGE

Congratulations JEFF! By finishing the 2008 Walt Disney World® Marathon or Half Marathon and signing up to run the 2008 Disneyland® Half Marathon, you are confirmed to be eligible for Disney's Coast to Coast Race Challenge. Following is important information on how to obtain your special medal upon successfully completing the 2008 Disneyland® Half Marathon.
When picking up your race number and packet at the Disneyland® Health & Fitness Expo, you will receive a wristband that you must wear until you finish the Disneyland® Half Marathon. After you cross the finish line you will receive your half marathon finisher medal and then you will exchange your wristband for your special Disney’s Coast to Coast Race Challenge medal. Volunteers will be on hand to help direct you.​

Thank you for taking on Disney's Coast to Coast Race Challenge! We look forward to seeing you at the finish line where your special medal awaits! For a sneak peak at the medal, stop by the Disneyland® Half Marathon booth at the Expo!

Just letting everyone know I have 9 more sleeps till I leave for CA!!
Also just checking the weather.com website and the have Anaheim's High on the 28th as 83 with a low at 64. That seems perfectly doable to me. It's been hotter here!!

noryen, I'm having foot issues as well due to lack of training. I figured that I'd be crawling, hopping, swaying, etc. by the time I get to the finish line. Notice I didn't say "if".

HI.

so I am in dire need of a way to run both the 5K and the half this year. I cant register through disney since its 'sold out' but I really need to go.

does anyone know where I could possibly get a ticket to run the half? I tried craigslist and ebay and such, but nothing comes up.

I'm not really sure you could could do that, because the waivers have been emailed out already, unless you can find someone who doesn't want to run?? Have to show ID or have a letter signed and copy of person's id to pick up the race packet which has the bib. Not sure how all of that would work??
Good Luck with your search, maybe someone else would have some info.

I have to offer four free tickets to the Friday, 8/29/08 taping of The Tonight Show starring Jay Leno.

Due to the Friday night WISH meet, I won't be attending this show. IMO Johnny Carson was way better than Jay Leno will ever be. I saw Johnny before he retired.

You need to get up to Burbank, to the NBC Studios. It's about an hour from Disneyland by car.

The instructions say to be in line by 3 pm, but I would say by 2:30 pm. They seat at 4 pm, and they begin live at 4:30 pm.

Anybody who wants them, I'll have them with me Friday morning when I'm at the expo. The first person who sends me a private message can have them.

I saw Johnny Carson once and Jay Leno three times. I must say, I really enjoyed being in Jay's audience more....and I loved Johnny Carson! I enjoyed the pre-show (the guy the comes out and warms the audience up) and Jay also comes out before the show starts and invites audience members up to the stage to have their pics made with him. My friends and I were some of the lucky ones the first time we went. Plus, Jay talked to me during his monologue. He found out that my friends and I were from Little Rock while we had our pics made with him so he asked us during his monologue if we had ever slept with Clinton (this was during the time he ran for office the 2nd time). It was hilarious. I wish I could figure out how to post that video to YouTube.

However, it's all about Disney with me this trip. Sorry, Jay!

Becky - you had asked what everyone's goals are for this race. Sorry to say, I just want to finish this one. However, I am going to try to do a PR for the WDW half. By the way, I think I ave a bunch of pics of you and your sister (?) from the WDW half. I need to send you those.

zwoman - Did you sign up for the 5k?

escape, yes I did sign up for the 5k (signed DH up for it too!). we're driving up from SD sometime in the afternoon for packet pick up and staying at the Camelot Inn overnight.

Did I read correctly that the "party" is at the back of the pack? For the 5k too? If so, then that's where I wanna be!

Got you down, ZWoman! I'm sure there will be a party at the back of the pack for the 5k but I won't be there...only because I'm not "running" in the 5k. However, I'll be there on the sidelines cheering you on! How will we be able to recognize you?

uh, good question, Susie - any suggestions? I've got a light blue shirt I'm planning on wearing, could probably find a lime green rubber wrist band to wear, and I'm also planning on wearing a black waist pack.

I have my neon green poster board already in the bag although I do need to pull it out again to decorate it I'm undecided if I will bring the cow bell or not, I think Susie or Tracy were bringing one. Trying to decide how badly I want to annoy the poor unsuspecting people standing next to me LOL

For the Expo I think I will be wearing my special WISH bag and we'll be doing a ton of the seminars.

If your not wearing WISH wear during the 5K simply yell at me WISH WISH and I will scream louder . Of course I will also try to get a photo. Beware that my photo taking abilities aren't the best so it might be a little scary, poor Wendy and her son ended up with backside photos. My DH yelled at me for doing that. I was like 'hey they were photos of them racing' sure but did you have to take them from behind? Course my DH has never tried to get in FRONT of Wendy. (I'm not exactly a Kenyan here!)

As for the 1/2 i'm still undecided on if I will wear a camera or not. I think I might try it if it's not too hot out.

I picked up my shoes today. I killed my current pair last weekend resulting in a hurt foot. But did 2 miles on the TM in the new ones. Ran fast, ran slow, ran at my usual incline and ran at a 4% grade. My feet felt happy so all should be good. More TM work tomorrow and then a few miles outside on Saturday. They are the new version of my old shoes and frankly don't feel like there is anything different beyond the color.

I recommend that you wear those shoes every moment you get between now and next week. New shoes for races are a big NO NO! Get used to them, so wear them around the house, and to work, and anywhere else on top of the training your doing. You need to break them in, even if your old pair were the same make and model. You don't want blisters.

Bring the bell, annoying is good when it comes to spectating!

Is that what I have to do to get my picture taken, see anyone with a camera and shout WISH!!! WISH!!! They'll all be looking at me funny, and wondering out loud "what the hell did he say?"
