2008 Disneyland Half - Who's Going?

Looks like it was a good thing our friends had backed out and we'd already been facing the option of not participating. I spent all night at the ER on Monday night & will likely have to have surgery soon & would not be able to run anyway. If timing of the surgery works out, we'll still go down and cheer everyone else on. We've already paid for the flights & have Disney APs, so...

Wendy, so sorry to hear that! and pixiedust: for a quick recovery!

Hey, Where are all the DL 1/2 WISHers? It's getting close, how's training coming?? Are you tapering yet??(not you Jeff!, we know you are already doing something like 18miles).

I'm in taper, did my half before the half this past Sunday. I have 6 miles on tap for this Sunday. Will try for some pool work tomorrow.

Found some flourescent Green nail polish at Walgreens today. Made by SINFUL professional. Trying it now and looks good. That's what I'll have on for the DL 1/2. DId the same thing for the Minnie 15K. It was good luck, so I'll do it again.

Take care all you DL 1/2ers!!

Tracy

OK, I think I've got everyone listed. Woohoo!!!!!

Are you ready to rock and roll? 2 more weeks!!!!! The WISHers are going to invade Disneyland. :cool1: :earboy2:

Tracy - can't wait to see your polish! :teeth:

OK, Bumping this sucker up!!!!

It's now two weeks until the main event!!!!!!!!:cool1:  :yay:
Hope everyone is doing well with training/tapering. I'm out for a 6 miler today as part of my taper and then trying to get ready for FAY and starting to pack. (I've had my luggage out now for awhile)

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

I did 6 today, but I had to do it all on the treadmill - yuck! DH is out of town for awhile. I won't be able to run outside again til next weekend. I need to start packing!! Only 12 days til I leave :)

Happy taper everyone!

Becky

did my last long day (11.5) yesterday and came the to conclusion I need new shoes pronto. the ice pak wrapped around my foot is kinda the indication that the shoes are dead :headache: So that's where I am.

Susan got today off which is just as well since last Sunday she was telling people we crossed paths with that I was trying to kill her. :rolleyes1 Towards the end she says she sees deer up in the field ahead. We never see deer in that field (oh sure there are deer all over our park but never in that open field) so I told her to shut up and keep running that she wasn't getting out of it that easy. Halucinating wasn't a good enough excuse to stop running. There WERE 2 fawns and their Mom was coming out of the tree line as we entered the path around the field they were in. Oops.

Somedays it's amazing that susan still talks to me :lmao: Oh well there is always my poor DH to torture when Susan refused to come out to play. He's working towards the EE5K. This summer has been great fun. 2 people to annoy on more training days. How much better can life get? :lmao:

Seriously we can't wait. We will be hanging around the Expo for most of the afternoon on Friday catching the speakers.

Susie!!! Say Hi to Cindy for me :flower3: see you in 2 weeks!!!!

Training for me is not going too well. I did a 10 miler last week and felt like I was going to hurl! I've been doing several 6 mile runs since then and felt ok. Honestly, I'm forgetting about any personal bests...I just hope I'm able to finish. Anyone feel the same as me?

Danny: Sorry to hear your having stonkers, but that can only mean one thing - It can't get any worse right??
I'm sure you'll make it through and all us WISHers will be there to help get you through!!!

Thanks, Tracy! I think I'm going to need everyones help to get through this one!

Well, Danny, if it's any consolation, my 8-miler this past weekend was somewhat of a stonker. I did it, it almost killed me, and I don't think I could have gone any further. That can mean only one thing....we're going to do well at Disneyland!

Wendy (Vanvmom), oh no! I'm so sorry. Here's more :wizard: and a prayer for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Note to self: Never train with Diane. She is a killer. By the way, Cindy will be "running" with me at Disneyland. We plan to be with the party at the back of the pack. :tiptoe: party:

Thanks, Susie! You and Tracy gave me a positive spin on my training...it can't get any worse! That's a great way of looking at it! In that case, we'll finish it together...regardless of my finishing time!

:cloud9: Cindy is coming too!?!?!?? This is going to be such a great gathering!!! Everytime I turn around more and more. Woohooo!!!!

Sitting around, did the doc close the office today? I thought you had Friday off. Whoa, talk about one long weekend.

Play it safe, batton down the hatches. Don't forget to stock up on your books and other things to keep you busy, should the electricity go out.

We've had a quiet hurricane season so far here in the islands. A couple of tropical storms, and hurricanes in the Eastern Pacific, but they all died out by the time they got this far West. Knock on wood, I hope it stays quiet through November.

Jeff: Oh, I forgot to tell you that this is my summer "vacation". Each of the back staff gets some time off during the summer, usually our slow time except two weeks before school. So I had off Friday, Mon and Tuesday. Our office is only open to see emergencies since school was supposed to start today. No one wants to miss the first days of school so our office is DEAD. I work a non patient day on Wed, then reg days Thursday, Friday, Mon, Tues, Wed and half day on Thursday so I can get back home and then to the airport. Does that help? Thanks for the good thoughts. Just lots of rain now, but supposed to get some wind as the night goes on. I am used to this as I have grown up with it. Nice temps today - high maybe at 80.

My training has be going poorly, but it's definitely my fault since I started so late (at the beginning of July).

Due to the the short time frame, I figured I'd ramp up my miles by 50% each week... Well that resulted in a foot injury once I got up to about 8 miles on my long run. So I decided to take a break from running, but that was 2 weeks ago and my foot is still hurting a little bit.

I'm sure my foot will be fine after two more weeks of rest, but that means I wouldn't have a single training run for the entire month... eek!

I've been cross-training on a bicycle to keep my cardio up, but at this point I just hope I can finish the Half-Marathon. :sad2:

Do hope that your foot problem doesn't get any worse!!:sad1: Hoping that things will get better and that you will FINISH without much issues.

Just letting everyone know I have 9 more sleeps till I leave for CA!!:woohoo:
Also just checking the weather.com website and the have Anaheim's High on the 28th as 83 with a low at 64. That seems perfectly doable to me. It's been hotter here!!

Take care!!

so cal weather has been nice and cool in the mornings, although it does heat up. I run before work and it is NICE! :thumbsup2 Let's hope it keeps up for the 1/2!
