2008 - C25K program :) WELCOME!!

I walked for an hour and 10 minutes yesterday. No jogging...just walked. But I am sorta back on track! :)

Marie~Thanks. :)

Vicki~Thanks, but the thing is I CAN'T run that fast. Yeah my legs can go that fast for a couple minutes, but my heart and lungs are no where near being able to keep up. So I end up huffing and puffing and having to walk-not good.
It sounds like you did a great job with the end of week 6! :cool1:

cwnhokie~Woohoo!! Sounds like you were more ready than you thought! :thumbsup2

Maroo~That's great, nothing wrong with a long walk. Good job! :)

Me~Today I was back on the treadmill and did W7D1. I've switched over to doing the program by distance now. So I jogged the 2.5 miles at 4.8mph. That took me 31m20s. I'm going to follow the program as written through to the end using my treadmill, and then anything I do outside will be extra.

Hey all! Last week I was feeling a bit under the weather so I cut my workouts short a bit. But this week I went back and ran my 2.5 miles. I am switching to distance now and did it in less time as I was alternating between 4.4and 5.0 for most of it. At one point I switched to 4.7 for a bit and then when I switched to 4.7 the 2nd time I missed the 4 and set it to 7.0 :scared1: I had trouble getting it off that but at least I know I *could* run at 7.0 if my life depended on it - at least for about 30 seconds. I'm going to do 2.5miles som emore before I move up to 2.75 - good luck all!

Hi Tiffany :wave2: Glad to hear you are doing well. I think at some point I will switch to distance too and not worry about the time. I sitll have 3 weeks to go though!

As for me I did W7D1 today! I was not dreading it like I did my first 25 min. run and now that the remainder of the workouts are running and increasing minutes I think it is easier mentally. I am thinking with adding 3 min. next week and then two more minutes the next week is not going to be as dramatic as the previous weeks but I plan to increase my speed since I won't be adding a lot of time. I think the plan is overconfident when the last day you are supposed to run 3 miles in 30 min. - I really can't see me doing that anytime soon! I would be happy with 3 miles in 40 min. and at my current pace I should be able to do that but when I get tired I slow down even more...lol!

I hope everyone had a great day! We are getting rain here now so I am glad that my off day is tomorrow even though it might be fun and refreshing to run in the rain as long as it's not slippery!

W7D2 done:thumbsup2 did the same thing, 2.5 miles at 4.8 so 31m20s.

Tiffany, that's too funny about going 7mph! oops! lol Sounds like we're at the same point in the program now, going 2.5 miles! :)

Vicki, I can't see being able to go 3 miles in 30 minutes in the foreseeable future either. I really don't know if I'll ever be able to do that, a 10 minute mile... But then again I don't know that I even want to do it, I don't think it's necessary for the ultimate goal I have right now which is the WDW half. I'm content with going slower than that, for now at least.

Now that the walks are gone, I've stopped listening to the podcasts. But DGF mentioned last night that week 7 expected 2.5 miles in the 25 minutes. That's incredibly optimistic for me. I'm going VERY slowly and doing 2.2 in the week 9 30 minute run.

I have all summer to get faster ; )

Hey guys, check out my sig...notice anything new??? :teeth:

I mailed in my registration for the half today!!!:cool1: I am DOING IT!! I'm sooooooo excited. My good friend is doing it with me, she registered today as well. YAY!! :cool1:

Woohoo! Way to set your sights high! No way I am planning anything like that now - I would just like to actually do a 5k eventually - haha

LOL Thanks Tiffany. I have a lot of work to do over the next several months to get ready!! It's not going to be easy.

Congrats Liz! Maybe I can join you some day, as for now, Week 3 is DONE! But those 3 minute intervals were still pretty tough, we'll see how next week goes.

I just did my W7D2 - (Yep it's done!) and I ran 2miles in the 25 min. No way I could get another .5 mile in right now!1 I am happy with what I am doing and that I have continued with this even though there have been days! I plan to work on distance after I finish the 9 weeks.

I quite listening to the podcasts two weeks ago...I didn't really like the music and I like music with words. :)

:banana::banana: Yahoooooo for you! I am excited and in awe of you! I can't wait to hear about your training for the 1/2.

My goal right now is to do a 5K and I was going to do one the end of this month but I think I'll wait for the next one that sounds interesting. I refuse to run a 5K and be the slowest one and have my speed forever documented!! They do have the DL Half over Labor Day weekend and they have a 5K - that would be a fun one to work toward!!:lovestruc

I'm so happy I found this thread! I started W1 this week, and can't wait to track my progress with everybody. Looking forward to my first 5k this year!:thumbsup2

Vicki~ Good job! Your pace was great!!

scrump~ Welcome to you!! :) Keep us posted on how you're doing!! :thumbsup2

Me~ Today I went outside again, and my 9 yr old son joined me! :) I did MUCH better this time than my first outside jog/walk the other day. I was able to pace myself better so I could jog longer. I would have kept jogging but my son needed to walk sometimes (he did so great though) and honestly I wasn't complaining about slowing down. lol But get this, we got back and our time was under 37 minutes!! I don't know what the exact time was because I forgot to lock my iPhone so I pushed the Stop button at some point and lost a couple minutes. My dh had looked at his clock when we left though so we were able to figure our approximate time and I'm rounding it up to 37 for my log. But yeah, it was great! :)

W1D2 done for me! Easing in slowly!

W1D2 done for me! Easing in slowly!

:thumbsup2 That's the way to do it! My dh went for a jog today, the same 3.1 mile route that I do outside. And he hasn't done anything at all like I've been doing the C25K the past 7 weeks... Boy is he feeling it tonight! lol He did NOT ease into it slowly! He was just doing it "for fun" though...to see how he compared to me.

Thanks for the encouragement, Liz!

W1D3 done! It was a little harder than I thought, since I had to break in new shoes. The back part of the shoe chafed against my ankle (through the sock), rubbing my skin raw, so it was a little painful. I am guessing the store won't take them back, so I am trying to break them in as best I can.

Good afternoon, Happy Easter!! It's a beautiful, sunny day here in NC, a bit chilly, well it was before I went for my jog anyway.

srump~ Congrats on week 1!:thumbsup2 I'm sorry about the shoes, ouch! Do you think you could try to return them? Where did you get them?

Yesterday I completed week 7 on the treadmill. I went 4.9 mph for the 2.5 miles, so that took 30m35s.

Today as I said I went outside for my "Easter Jog". :) And I'm excited to report that I did the 3.1 miles, jogging the entire way, in just under 34 minutes!!!!! I'm still finding it hard to believe, but my dh keeps saying it's true. lol He said my pace was just under 11m. I can't believe it!! I would of course slow down going up the hills, and then go much faster down the hills and somewhat fast (faster than what I do on the treadmill that is) on the flat areas. And it averaged out to 5.48mph. woohoo!

That's so great to hear, Liz! I hope to be where you are in about 6 weeks!

As for the shoes, I am thinking of calling tomorrow to ask if I can return/exchange them, but I am doubtful. I'll probably just have to break them in aggressively by pulling back the ankle portion or something like that.

I have to try to start week 4 today and I'm not feeling well. I have a horrible cold. I guess I'll just try to push through it and see how it goes.

Good job everyone!
