2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas*

So - as you know - we were in SC!! We drove down on Monday - got there about 2ish - we hit a bit of traffic on the way to my dad's from I-95 ...

We unloaded the car, checked out dad's new place, and off we went to "Broadway by the Beach" - which is kinda like Downtown Disney - there are a lot of shops, places to eat, and some minor attractions like the aquarium, Magiquest, mini-golf, a few kiddie rides... then we went back to Dad's for dinner and hit a few stores to pick up some goodies for the week...

Tuesday - Carm and I took the kids to the Hard Rock Park - they won't open until mid-april, but they let you in the front part of the park (kinda like Main St. USA) - but, you could pay for the 'hard hat tour' - so, we did that, and we were able to walk around w/a guide and see some things inside the park - was it worth the money - NO, but it was interesting to see the construction of it all.. after that, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch - sat in the 80's section - which was cool for me! After that, we went to MagiQuest - that was a bit hard to handle for the first hour, but after we got the hang of it, our time was up - LOL The kids totally wanted to go back there, but we did NOT! LOL Then we went out for a light dinner w/Dad, hit a couple of OUTLET STORES - WOO HOO! and back to his place for American Idol and Dancing w/the Stars...

Wednesday - it got a bit warmer, but NOT at the beach! UGH!! Dad bought the boys a kite, and we went to fly it at the beach - it was WAY to windy - but, they got to check out the beach, take their shoes off and put their little toes in the sand for a few minutes - we were there for about an hour or so. We also hit the local mall, did some shopping and had lunch. Dad cooked dinner for us that night, and the kids played outside w/him and carm - I watched TV - I was tired - then we watched some TV together - and off to bed!

Thursday - we hit the fireworks store - that was top priority - had to get set for the 4th of July. Then we were off to the aquarium, lunch, and mini-golf.. we went to the outback that night for dinner, and back to the outlets for some shopping..

Friday morning we left there a bit after 5am - and we were home by 3ish, that was with a stop to Barnes and Noble to get a gift for the 6pm party on Friday night!!

So, that was my few days away - nothing fabulous - but back to reality tomorrow!!

I know - me neither!! It's going to be great!! They also have a Bon Jovi roller coaster in the "born in the USA" section, it's called Slippery when wet! LOVE IT!

The diet will sort-of start back up tomorrow (we are having pizza tonight LOL) - but Carm's bday is tomorrow, so, we'll probably go out again!!!! LOL But, I will be good during the day - and fall apart at dinner - but I am going to get back to exercising tomorrow for sure - so, that will help!

So, did you see the wonder pass? I didn't see your post until it was probably too late!! Oh - well - you'll have to remind me next time it passes by!

Yes, me and Sandy saw the Wonder pass on TwoPalms, she was late last night, she didn't pass till about 5.50pm, but she usually passes around 5.20/5.30pm. We wished we were on there

Here are a few pics that we took at the Hard Rock Park - the big coaster you see is the Led Zep ride - so cool - the guitar is in the center of the park - kinda like Cinderella's castle - LOL And those characters - well, I am not sure what they are - but, they were cute!

Great pictures Laurie, and thanks for sharing your mini trip report with us too. It sounds like you had a great time. I loved the look of the theme park, I think I'd like it there

Well I'm sitting here waiting for my treadmill to be delivered, it's coming between 9am and 5pm, and knowing my luck it will arrive around 4.50pm

I really hope it arrives early, as I've got lots of errands to do in town, just paying bills etc (boring !!!), but I really don't want to sit here all day waiting for it to come

So, what have you got planned for today ? I hope it's more interesting than my day

Can you call them to give them a mobile number so they can ring you when they might be close? That is usually what I do - this way I can do little things local and not be stranded all day! UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH I also have the advantage of my cousin across the street (sometimes it has it's advantages) - so, she can always run across if need be!

Thanks for the Bday wishes for Carm - he is still feeling crappy - poor thing - but, I did make the cake at 9:30 last night! LOL I figured he'd want a cake from a bakery - but, he is being really good w/the diet - wanted me to make one!

I just missed the wonder then - crap!!! You have to remind me early in the day when it is going to pass - and hook me up w/the link again - LOL (I need so much guidance! LOL)

I hope it gets there soon - this way you aren't trapped!! I am off to shower and to work - I'll catch you guys later!

Morning everyone, I just wanted to pop in and say hi before i get ready to head out to the casino.Laurie i will have austin look into that vmk thing tomorrow when i am home. Mandy have fun cleaning the garage. jeff is so thrilled he has the kids today.. he is taking them over to his friends later to watch a ufc match The girls will be thrilled. The original plan was for him to come over here again like last night but he was doing some work in his basement and slipped with a razor knife. He sliced open 2 tendons and nearly cut his main artery..ouch..The doctor told him if he had been a quarter of an inch closer he would have bled out in 8 minutes.. .So anyway he doesn't want to leave his bed on the pain meds so my tribe is going to invade his house for the day..I am sure his wife will be as thrilled as my girls are..Well have a great day.

Yes you can catch the Disney Wonder passing by on twopalms around 5.20/5.30pm on a Thursday and Sunday and of course you'll see the Disney Magic at the same time on a Saturday

I love that website, it's lovely to see everyone at the beach and it always has the temperature on too - so I'm always wishing I was there

Well my treadmill was delivered at 11.30 this morning, so once that was put in the garage, I dashed into town to pay my bills and get some groceries

That's it now, I can just chill with the girls for the rest of the afternoon

We had a nice overnight visit to Philadelpha on Saturday. We took Brennan to the Franklin Institute to the Star Wars exhibit. It was jammed packed so I'd suggest anyone planning on going does so on a weekday. I'll have to find the picture I took of the crowds. Believe it or not, it was worse than Disney on a holiday. It was a much smaller exhibit than thought it would be, but we did have a nice time and found plenty to see at the museum besides Star Wars. They had a few characters in their stormtrooper uniforms walking around and Darth Vader to take pictures with. I think yesterday was the first day for that so that may be one reason for the crowds. We saw a Star Wars related show about similarities between earth and Star Wars in the planetarium and a laser/light saber little show about how they make them. They did have a millenium falcon 7 minute ride but the line at it's best was 1 hour and 45 minutes so we didn't go on it.

This morning I was called DVC member services and added the 21st to our trip. The plane flights were the same money and it was only 9 points for the value studio at Animal Kingdom. We are getting in at noon and will probably either stay at the resort and swim or go to a water park. We have an ADR at Boma but may try Kona out instead.

I booked my parents a studio this Wedensday at Saratgoa Springs and dinner at the Kona cafe. It's my mom's 60th birthday tomorrow. We already got her a nice gift, but figured with 2 ten- year- old boys the last 4 days, they could use a night away. They are in Clearwater until the 16th. Keegan and his friend had a great time with them. They came home last night tan and with lots of stories. Keegan's friend said it was the best time he's ever had which was great to hear.

Today's another busy day for us. Brennan has bowling and then baseball, while Keegan has to stay after for Student Council, then has a birthday party and baseball. Only 25 more days until our trip to WDW!
