Have the free events/exhibitions been released anywhere?

in the past these are not usually posted anywhere till the event actually starts and someone gets the book of all the events and goes home and puts them up on the web.

I just updated my pre-trip report. :goodvibes

Here's what I'm going to try to book:

Oct 12: South African Wine event
Oct 13: Party for the Senses
Oct 14: Sweet Sundays and Signature Dinner at California Grill
Oct 15: Food and Wine Pairing at Japan
Oct 19: Food and Wine Pairing at LeCellier

I can't see myself booking LeCellier AND the South African Wine Event. I know I'll be too full from the first event to attend the second event 2 hours later. And I wanted to add that I'm bummed that I'm leaving the day before the Scotch pairing. I wanted to try that.

Has anybody done the Regional Feast before? I was thinking about doing Greece . . . was it worth $150.00?? Give me some details, please, of what to expect. Is there lots of food served? How's the seating for these Feasts? How about the dancers/entertainment?

I have a question, and I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but is it actually a good idea to book a Sweet Sunday the morning after a Party for the Senses? I know how full I was the last time I went to Party for the Senses, and didn't eat until lunch the next day. I don't see the point of booking two eating events back to back.

Count us in too Lori!! We had to change our dates to a week earlier. Not going to be there for the PFTS on 10/20 (That is when Brenda and Jason will be going) but maybe we can meet up with you for the SAWE and PFTS (always helps to have a group to snag a table ;) ). I am really excited about the SAWE. I wonder what they mean by "roaring" entertainment.

I have a feeling I won't get everything, but here's my tentative list.

9/28 Cook, Book, Bottle / Coral Reef Food & Wine Pairing
9/29 Party For the Senses (although had been considering the Twinings Tea)
9/30 Signature Lunch @ Jiko

10/12 Cook, Book, Bottle / Exquisite Evening Tuscany
10/13 Party For the Senses
10/14 Sweet Sundays / Signature Dinner California Grill
10/15 Teppan Edo Food & Wine Pairing

10/31 Seas Salon Food & Wine Pairing
11/1 Kitchen Conversations / *?????*
11/2 Cook, Book, Bottle / Exquisite Evening Bordeaux
11/3 Party For the Senses
11/4 Sweet Sundays (maybe) / Kitchen Conversations

Wondering if anyone has any plans to try to attend the Nov. 4 Signature Dinner at V&A...

I'm completely bummed that I'm not able to attend that event, mainly because the guest chef is one of my all time favorite chefs. Chef Jean-Louis Gerin has been the owner and executive chef of Restaurant Jean-Louis in Greenwich, CT since 1985 and has consistently been recognized as one of the best classically trained French chefs in the US. I'm beginning to sound like an advertisement for the man. What I really am is someone who has eaten his food several times, and have always been amazed by his talent.

I'm dying to see what he will come up with in concert with Chef Hunnel (another extremely talented chef IMHO) at $350 a head. Should be AMAZING!! He makes this double oxtail consomme at his restaurant with slivers of foie gras literally cooking in the hot soup. Un :worship: real!

So, at any rate, should any of my fellow DIS'ers happen to be lucky enough to attend this event would you be so kind as to please, please, please, please, please, please, please share your experience with us poor, disgruntled foodies who were unable to attend? Would LOVE to see pics!

Thanks in advance and good luck to all getting the special events of your choice!

I updated the original post in the thread to include a thank you to PatriciaH for being our insider with the scoop for all of us before Allearsnet got the stuff posted. I am impressed that a DIS'er got the scoop for us!

So, I think that I speak for everyone here when I offer a big old DIS :grouphug: to PatriciaH!

You rock!

I would have said thank you before, but I was in the hospital most of this week with an MRSA infection that caused me to become septic with 102 to 104 degree fevers. Needless to say, I am thankful to be home and am praying like crazy that the new meds that I am on at home continue to fight off the bug as well as the 3rd IV antibiotic was doing. I was seriously thinking that I might die. The one thing that I kept saying to God in my prayers was, "Not now God, I still have to turn 40 at Disney!" :lmao: I blame it on the fever.....really. :rotfl:

Happy planning to you all. DIS'ers are wonderful folks without a doubt. Maggie

We will be in Epcot on the morning of the 20th and have lunch just before noon at Le Cellier. We leave for the airport after lunch. Will you be in Epcot that morning?????

I will check out that thread. We would love to meet other Louisianians!!

I don't think we'll be able to be in the park too early, we will arrive that day. :sad1: We are planning on driving & staying somewhere close to Disney the night of the 19th, so as it gets closer, I'll let you know for sure.

:cheer2: pixiedust: pixiedust: Good luck to you with your health issues! Get well quickly:) . Thinking about WDW will certainly help!

Thanks to PatriciaH for the early news! After all that waiting though, my computer ended up in the shop the last couple of days so I missed out being one of the first to hear the news. :sad2:

It is a shame that the Disney website still does not have this info posted!

We would have booked different dates had we been able to have a schedule a lot sooner. We are going to miss some events we would have loved to attend.

I'd like to hear any opinions on the Cook Book & Bottle. Is this worth the $150 price?

Also any opinions on Exquisite Evenings at $210? and the Signature Dinners? And how were the Pairings at The Coral Reef?

Wow, ImprovGal, I'm jealous. You are flying/driving down three times. You must really love the F&W Fest.
I'm going to try to be at the Cook, Book, Bottle on the 28th.
I only have one weekend. I also was considering doing the Coral Reef Food/Wine Pairing the same afternoon. I don't know though. Have you tried events so close together before? If so, give me your feedback.
I was also considering doing Sweet Sunday and the Italy Wine Pair on the same day.
Thanks, Deb

The only thing I know we will be doing for sure it the PFTS on 9/29...still have to get DH to peruse the event listing and tell me what he wants to do other than that-although I have many suggestions! :rotfl:

Flying. There's no way I'd do a 22 hr drive all by myself.
And I do really love the F&W Fest. I've even started going to some F&W events closer to home, although the W part doesn't happen if I have to drive. :)

I'm not sure how close together I had events last year. I know I doubled up on some days, but I don't remember which events they were. I'll have to find my notes from last year. I think in 2004 I did a French F&WP and an Exquisite Evening on the same day. The biggest challenge was getting back to my resort in between to change clothes.

With any of the events I attend, I never worry about being a member of the clean plate/glass club. When I go to a multi-course dinner, I never finish every bit of every course or finish every glass of wine. Even without eating/drinking everything, I still feel the events are enjoyable and that I've gotten my money's worth in the experience.

I've never left the Party For the Senses feeling full to the point of being
overstuffed. I don't think I've ever had a problem the morning after with
food, but my breakfasts are usually not huge, anyway. Since Sweet Sundays
start at 10:30am, I feel confident I'll have enough of an appetite.
