2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

It is new this year in honor of the theme Disney legends. Details are up on the official DVC Member Cruise site.
Mary, do you have a link for that? I looked last night but didn't see on the DVC members site. Or is there another, completely separate site?

good morning everyone!

Watching Walt Disney World Behind The Scenes on Travel Channel right now and Marty Skylar was just on. Just think in a little over a week we'll have the opportunity to hear him talk in person!

Thanks for all the nice feedback on the buttons. It really isn't a ton of work as we have a machine that makes it pretty easy. Really everyone brings something to the group be it experience of those who have cruised before or the enthusiasm of a brand new cruiser!

We plan on doing the bikes this year. Did them last year for the first time and enjoyed it. Found out the observation tower is now open on the island so we plan to do that. In fact after talking about it yesterday we decided to leave the snorkels and masks at home this time. We'll bring them again when we sail the Eastern in April but we plan to just relax a lot more this cruise.

Here is another link: http://www.twopalms.com/ This is two palms and will show the ship sailing by about 25 minutes or so after sailaway.

Here's an animated gif Mark made from two palms screen shots:

Whew!! What a week this has been---we're down to the wire on extended tax season at work and I have to come down with a nasty cold  It came on fast and is taking its sweet time going away. I'm still coughing like a chain smoker! On top of that, we were ringing handbells with our choir at a wedding yesterday afternoon and while we had piled most of our clothing and stuff in the spare room--nothing was packed for the cruise! Dave took off this morning with most of my stuff along with his--he has already arrived and is headed for the Studios! I've decided to FedEx a box to him with our "fishies" and other stuff for the cruise, then I'll be headed to Orlando Friday after work.

Mark and Mary, you two have done a TREMENDOUS job with the buttons and all! I am ever so grateful!! I may not have posted much due to time constraints, but I've been able to catch up now and then on my reading and think I have the gist of things. The special website that you set up with the roster of who all is coming along and the pix has been a wonderful gift, as well!! Thank you so very much for all the info, the pix and stories from past cruises. I've eaten up every word!

I am SOOOO looking forward to the meet at the BC on Saturday! I can't wait to meet you all!! I'm off to work on my "fishies" some more. Catch ya later!!

Mary,

These pins look great, thanks so much for getting these ready for the cruise. Can't wait to meet everyone, finally go my "pirate" costume for the party, so now I am ready!!

Once tonight is over with and the week starts, it will go so fast.

Before we know it, we'll be onboard at the sail away party and having fun.

spoke with Linda today and she has a wonderful mini navigator in the works for us. She does a wonderful job on it.

It has a lot of information that we will be using all week.

WAY TO GO, LINDA. Thank you and this will be a great surprise for everyone.

I have the gifts ready for the FE's. It was fun putting them all together the way I wanted to present them.

For everyne that is traveling earlier than some of us, SAFE TRAVELS.

Happy Sunday everyone! Are you all in as good of a mood as I am? :goodvibes

I drug the suitcase out of the garage yesterday and started working on laundry. I hope to get myself all packed up tomorrow when the kids are at school. Then I will, of course, look longingly at my suitcase the next few days as it taunts me "we can't leave yet" :rotfl:

My aunt arrives from San Diego tomorrow (she is spending a few days with us before we leave) and then me, mom and aunt fly out to Orlando on Thursday. :goodvibes

Is anyone else running around yet and doing last minute things? Today I am doing the icky task of making sure I have all the bills paid before I leave. Tomorrow will be the run to Target to get all the last minute travel stuff I need.

I just read all the FE posts. I wish I had understood them better earlier. I thought they were just a fun little decorative things. Sounds like you all are goign to have such fun doing the exchanges. I will have to remember about this if we go on the cruise next year.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday and the days until you head out to Florida go speeeeeeeeeedy quick!!!

As far as the FE's are concerned, I will have extras and if you come to either me or Linda, I will give out what I have left. That is not a problem at all. I don't want anyone to be left out.

I have tried to keep track of the families as a whole rather than just the FE list. So with Mary's pic gallery and the FE list, I "think" I have most everyone covered.

Enjoy the next couple of days

I'm definately looking forward to Linda's navigator. Not only for use on the cruise but as a great souvenir for after. I know it will have a place in my scrapbook.

Speaking of scrapbook here are a few tips I've learned over the years (some from Linda).
  • Ask your cabin steward for a 2nd copy of each days navigator (or pick one up at guest services. That way you have one to mark up and one to keep in perfect condition for your scarpbook
  • Bring a plastic file folder to keep your navigators and other papers in one place and protected.
  • Stop by guest services on the last night of the cruise. There will be bins filled with the paper luggage tags. The tags feature character pictures on the back and make great additions to your scrapbook and they are free!
  • Don't forget to take a picture of your door number. I saw a scrapbook page with this on it and loved it so I do it every cruise now.

some good tips there, Mary. I am not a scrapbooker myself. My intentions at one point were good, but just don't have the patience to do that. I have kept all my folders and info together tho for each cruise and in the future if I am bedbound and nothing to do, I can go thru everything. NOT NOT NOT :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The only book that I did do was one from a 3 month cruise and stay in Europe when my ex and I traveled. I love looking thru that book. So I know the memories are wonderful to look back at the scrapbooks that everyone makes. A lot of labor and love goes into them.

it's OK if the week goes by slow - THEN the cruise will not go so fast and we'll have more time onboard.......................

:cool1: :cool1:

Okay, so got home from work a couple of hours ago, fixed dinner, just cleaned up and now sitting at the computer for a few minutes!

Well, dinner number 1, one week from right now, will be complete and we will have just finished in the Walt Disney Theater. Can't believe we are so close.

Worked on the Mini-Navigator today. Just about done and ready to go. I just need to do a little more formatting and add the finishing touches. Hopefully, I can do that tomorrow sometime.

Guess I should start packing soon!

Okay, have a great week everyone and for those of you headed to WDW early, safe travels and see you on Saturday!

I can't believe how close we are. Amanda & I leave in 3 more days! YIPPEE

Wednesday can't come soon enough! Are we there yet?

Mary&Mark, thank you for all the work you put into the buttons.

Linda, thank you for putting the mini navs together.

I can't wait to go, tried to start packing today but did not get very far. I tried on my gown from 4 years ago that still has the tags on it and I need to have it taken it in. I hope my tailor can do it by Thursday.

Have a Happy Monday everyone.
