Good Morning Mary and All
I can't believe how the time is flying. friday morning wewill be on our way and with in luck we will be in the World by lunch time.
Just wondreing who will be staying at OKW?
FYI Nancy called Member Services last week to check on Cruise Bus pickup.
They will be a OKW Sunday at Noon sharp for pickup to port.
Well folks got to go rake som leaves. It's that time of year here in Maine.
Everybody have a great day
danandnan:) :) :) :)

We will be staying at OKW -

We changed from staying at the Radissosn at the Port so that we could meet up with some friends on Saturday in the Disney area.

If they are going to pick you up at Noon you will probably get to the Port around 1:30 or so w/the other pickups. Did they tell you when you would get there or what pick up stop you were?

We are leaving probably by 9:15 am for the Port and get there around 10'ish

Pretty much done packing and so ready to go thanks everyone for all your time and energy for the pins navigators and fish extender lists. See you this weekend. Sounds nice doesn't it...

We are hoping to leave Sunday around 9 also.

Can't believe in 4 days!!!!!!

Question for those who have done mumeber cruises before- Do you tip extra?

Hey, a great BIG THANKS goes out for all the help we got on this thread, it's been a fun 9 months interacting with everyone. It helped pass the time away.
see ya all there.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY

Joanne - we've always received excellent service on all our cruisers and have tipped above the recommended amount. Since the tips are included for the member cruise at the recommended amount yes we often slip in some extra cash as well.

DIS meets - I've gotten some questions in pm and also in chat on what to expect at the DIS meets as far as time, etc.

Both meets are really informal. I expect that the Saturday meet at Beach Cllub will give people more time to interact. It starts at 3 pm but how long each person stays is really up to them. I think most people stayed about an hour last year but we also kind of made it a wedding shower as we had a couple getting married the weekend after the cruise. One of the members brought cupcakes as part of that shower and they were a big hit. Food and drink isn't planned but if anyone wants to bring something feel free. The market place at Beach Club is steps away so you can always grab a drink there. What we have found to be nice about the Beach Club location is being indoors we don't have to worry about the weather. Plus it is large enough and with enough chairs that people can mix and mingle or sit in small groups. Also room for the kids to run around a bit. If you have any other friends who are in the area invite them too. After all a DIS meet is for all DISers - this one just has the added bonus of getting us all excited for the cruise the next day. Webmaster Doc showed up last year. After the meet some people get together for dinner or to head over to Epcot or MGM. So stay a few minutes or stay a long time - it is all about getting to know each other.

The Sunday DIS meet serves two purposes. 1) to meet those we didn't get to meet the day before and 2) so everyone gets familiar with the location as this is where the main action for sailaway is. This meet usually lasts about 1/2 hour because you'll need to get back to your cabin and get your vests, etc. for the safety drill which starts at 4. After the drill head on back to deck 10 for sailaway or if you want to be right in the middle of the action (usually preferred by families with kids) head to deck 9 and the dance floor. In the event of rain this DIS meet will meet one deck down on covered deck 9.

On our very first Member Cruise in 2003 we planned our very first DIS meet and had it at sailaway. It was a success but it was so noisy it was hard to hear and we really didn't get to "meet" very many people this way. We've found over the years that the 3pm meet work much better.

Hope this helps. We're looking forward to meeting everyone this coming weekend!

Good morning all!
The member cruise site has a few updates - hints really as to who will be on board.
Any guesses as to who the hints are talking about?? Creator of small world is one for sure. And it sounds like someone who wrote a book about the life of Walt Disney.

Imagine those who explored a world that only existed in an artist's mind - my guess for this is Marty Sklar

who chronicled the dreams of the greatest dreamer who ever lived - my guess for this is Dave Smith who founded the Disney Archives and was just made a Legend this year.

who wrote music for the wildest crew who ever sacked the Spanish Main - :confused3

and who united children of the world in the happiest cruise that every sailed - my guess for this is Richard Sherman who co-wrote "It's A Small World"

But who do you think would be the "musical" guest, like Jodi Benson and Jennifer Holiday of last year?

Good question. I guess that is one they are saving to surprise us with.

As for pirates - I'm wondering if it is the person who wrote music for the ride, not the movies. Guess we'll just have to wait to find out.

Dave Smith would be awesome!

"who wrote music for the wildest crew who ever sacked the Spanish Main"--I wonder if it's Xavier Atencio who wrote the lyrics to "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me).

Thanks for the name. He's on the Legends site so yes I think it could be him. They are really pulling out the history of Disney on this cruise. I hope we don't run into too many conflicts of schedules because I want to see everyone listed so far.

Only 4 days until we leave for Disney! :cool1:
What is everyone planning to wear to the Legends Ball? Do you think it is okay if my husband and 2 sons just wear a shirt and tie or should they wear jackets too? We don't want to be overdressed or underdressed.

My son is only wearing a shirt and tie.

Creator of small world-I was doing some searching on the Disney Legends website and when I think of creator, I think of who created all the "children" in It's A Small World. So my vote is for Alice Davis, who is the creator of all the costuming and ideas in the original It's A Small World ride in Disneyland. In addition, she went on to create all the costuming in the original Pirates of the Carribean attraction at Disneyland.

And ditto, on Dave Smith and Marty Sklar.

What I want to know is who is performing. I want to bring something from home to be autographed if I have something. The ship usually has way too little and not what I want!

That would be cool! I'd love to hear about all research that went into the costumes etc.

Here is a book I wanted to get for the Sherman Brothers to sign, but I can't figure out how to get it in time.

http://www.waltstime.com/

Let me know if anyone figures out how to get it ordered and shipped to the boat. This website doesn't have a phone number.....

Another website I found has it for like $200.00

Thanks!
