2007-2008 cheer parent thread

I am posting this from the Milk House.
buzzrider, your girls looked great on the mat. I hope you do well.
Thanks for sitting with us and supporting our girls. It was appreciated.

I need a little pixie dust. One of our flyers landed wrong and fractured her foot. She is on the way to the ER right now. Her mom isn't here and she's scared.

She is in our thoughts. What a scary thing to be far from home and injured.

How is she doing?

I must say I am proud of our girls. They all pulled together to help their injured teammate. They carried her bags, made sure to bring back food for her from the food court, event, pushed her wheelchair and carried her crutches, and even carried her up the stairs -- we stayed at the Carribean Beach, and there are no elevators there!

Overall we had a great trip. The girls did a great job on the mat, much better than the final results suggest. They should feel proud of how they represented thier high school. We lost major points because our routine was 6 seconds too long. Even with the injury on day two, we might have won if not for the deduction. Sigh. The 6 second overage was the fault of the choreographer at the all-star gym we use to create our girls' routine -- our coach was a dancer in school, not a cheerleader.

But the girls had fun nd learned about sportsmanship, and that's the whole point, isn't it?

no, but I'm going to Myrtle Beach with my other daughter and the school dance team -- our dance event is March 29-30. When do you go to Myrtle Beach? I'm sure you're going to have a great time.

Glad to hear the flyer is doing better. Isn't it great how the team rallies behind an injured one???

Congratulations to the Gemz for a great weekend at Jamfest.

Here is a link to Stephanie's team from their second place finish at Cheersport last month.

Although she is not in this one due to her injury, she is worked back in the routine for WSF Springfield and Worlds. She did some jumps and tumbling last night and says it feels a little better. She was just happy to tumble (not full tumbling but standing tucks, jumps to tuck etc). She goes to the ortho tomorrow!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Rbzzutto how the heck did they not win??? They are incredible~!!!!! WOW!!! Awesome!!!!!!!

we go to mrytle beach the first weekend in April. :)

Cheer Extreme beat then out!! Day 1 they had a 10 point deduction for an illegal stunt, but I think they still would have placed 2nd (by a slim margin). The sr unlimited 5 coed division is just unbelievable. Stephanie's team added some more stunting and jazzed up their dance even more. They also added more difficult tumbling sequences!!! I just hope they hit at WSF and Worlds. Regardless of where they place, it just helps to know they hit their routine and let the results follow!!

rbuzzotta i heard that some of your high school girls teams made the nationals. Will that interfere with Worlds? Tough decision to make after investing so much into All Star, then having a big HS competition near.

Which Jamfest were y'all at? We went to the Beach Jam this past weekend.

I really haven't heard. What HS are you talking about? I don't know what HS Nationals would be the weekend of Worlds? If that is true, the team can subsitute up to 10 cheerleaders (I believe those are the rulings but don't quote me). Heck, they got a fully paid bid.........who wouldn't want to go for free if someone had to quit for HS!! LOL!

I don't know what they could have jazzed up their dance...it was HOT to begin with and they WORK it!!! I LOVE all of Celebrity's dances!!! Your daughter's team is phenominal though...I love love love watching them! I can't wait for WSF so I can see them again!!!! I think it's their small coed that I love too...it's the team that has the boy that does the most unbelievable toe touches I've ever seen...I swear his toes are above his head LOL! All in all I love Celebrity...the entire gym is a class act. We sat with Celebrity parents at most of our early competitions this year and they were so much fun!

Thanks for the compliment Brenda. The boy on the sm. coed is also point on the unlimited coed. I loved the sm coed's routine. So much energy. Stephanie's team did jazz it up some........how is beyond my thoughts. Yes, they are quite creative.

I have met alot of the Celebrity parents this year too (being our first year at this gym) and I can say they are some of the nicest and complimentary people I have met. I am sure there are some that aren't so nice but for the most part, all have been very supportive of all the Celebrity teams and even their rival teams. Most only want the best for the kids!! It really is refreshing to hear so many positive comments!!!

Good luck to your daughter in Springfield.............hope they take another National title.

Big day today at the orthopedic!!! Fingers crossed...............

We saw the ortho yesterday. My daughter needs an MRI tomorrow (yes, Easter Sunday). NOt quite sure what will happen after that but as she said, she is still competing!!! She can fly and do the dance. Not sure about jump sequence to tucks and standing bhs to full. Highly doubt she will be doing her running tumbling sequence (bhs to double full).

She is determined but does know her limit. She is wearing an ASO brace which stablizes the ankle from inverting and everting!! I am just crossing my fingers that she will not need surgery!!! If so, she says......"After Worlds!!"

Happy Easter everyone!!

Hi Everyone...I just found this thread. My DD 8 is on a small non-profit cheer squad and she loves it. They are a youth level 2 team and sometimes compete at level 1A because they don't have alot of tumblers right now. This will be her 4th year. I never thought I would see her do this. She was VERY shy and still is at times, but not in front of the crowd while cheering! I really have seen her confidence level increase, not only in cheerleading, but also in school and other activities. She is flying this year. Our next competition is at Reach the Beach in Ocean City, Maryland. We only live 30 minutes away which will be nice. Anyone else going to be there.

Our website is:

Happy Easter to all my cheer parent friends!!! Off to have the MRI in about an hour or so!!

Welcome to JRoglitz............nice website!!

With that, I had an idea............how about posting our teams websites for all to see???
