Are we the only ones not to get our docs yet?

Nope, you're not the only doc-less group. :sad2: I was really hoping for ours today to bring my spirits up after a doctor's visit today. Nothing major, but Tyler had his 4 year check-up today, and his vision test showed that he's really farsighted in both eyes and needs glasses AND his doc found a heart murmur. I just felt like he got a double whammy and was feeling sad about it today. SO I just KNOW our docs will show up tomorrow to brighten our day! :dance3:

Holly - I am sorry to hear about Tyler's doctor appointment. :sad2: I hope everything goes well. Are they going to do further checks with the heart murmur? My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Here's hoping the cruise doc fairy will visit.... pixiedust:

Our docs showed up on Tuesday in New Jersey. I thought they would never arrive.

Holly, I am sure Tyler will be fine! His docs caught everything while he's young so he'll be used to glasses by the time he has to really learn to read and see the blackboard in school. And, it's always better to know young that there is a heart murmer even though it isn't usually anything to worry about. Hope you get your docs today! Hope I get mine today too!

TA got docs yesterday and will be dropping them off today!!

Not any more. We lived there for 3 years while I was in school. Now we are right outside Savannah
I've been making the trip up to the Teaching Hospital 2x a week for our ferret. The folks up at UGA are so great!! Hopefully they will be able to make a big difference.

Holly - I'm sorry about the double whammy, but glad they caught it!! Hope you're doing the "doc dance" this evening!! :woohoo:

Hi everyone! :)

Can't believe it's really getting close! No docs yet, but hadn't really noticed since we've been focused on trying to get our 4-day WDW pre-cruise trip organized. (We'll be there for the Wiggles-- can you believe there is a rumor about having to get to MGM at 6AM to pick up tickets?!) We're renting a car and staying at POP with the free dining deal so there has been a lot to plan.

But now we're getting psyched about the cruise! We last went in Jan. 2005 on the Western... seems like ages ago. We had a streak of not so nice weather on that one-- missed Grand Cayman entirely (too rough to tender), pools closed a few times due to sloshing, and worst of all, missed Castaway Cay after 3 unsuccessful docking attempts (we got SOOOO close, it was right there within reach... and then nope, just too rough...) so we are hoping we all have good sailing this time ::yes:: !

DD4-1/2 is also getting very excited about the Club and meeting some new friends. We haven't signed up for any excursions so far. She's still too young for a lot of things. What's the thinking for St. Thomas? Anything not to miss? For St. Martin, heard somewhere that there's a beach walkable from the ship?

And has anyone started researching prices so you'll be ready to book your next cruise onboard? :dance3: DW thought I was insane booking one last time, but now we are so glad we did. Link to my thread on this is in my sig!

Now gotta catch up on all the posts I've missed in this thread! :rolleyes1

Yippy, another 4 1/2 year old DD is in our group =). My 4 1/2 DD loves it when I tell her about other kids her age, and even more seeing the pics on Monstro's site with pics of our group.

On St. Thomas we're planning on Coral World, DD loves aquariums, and there's a beach right there too. At St. Maartan we're just going to do whatever beach is within walking distance of the port.

You know, I was going to start packing, but I've been doing so much reading on the boards I haven't! I am so easily sidetracked =)

EWL, we were on that same January cruise with you too! Isn't that funny we're on the same schedule! We are also looking forward to some good weather and to CC. :sunny: WE missed it our two last cruises. The one before the January cruise because it had been run over by a hurricane :sad1: We got our Docs from our TA today and are sooooo ready to pack we can't stand it. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! :cool1:

Courtney - We are going to do Coral World, also. Are you going to take a taxi or other transportation or are you booking through DCL? :confused3 I am still undecided. It seems very expensive through DCL as I have read you can do this cheaper on your own...

We are thinking of doing Coral World as well. I agree the DCL price seems high, but is it safer on a Disney sponsored bus versus a taxi?

Someone had suggested getting the door hanging organizers at Dollar General….just want to share I found one there today, 3.50 with 10 fabric pockets. Thanks to who ever shared before. :Pinkbounc

Is everyone else logging in as often as I am??? pirate:

Holly,

I hope your docs are there. :)

Don’t let yourself worry about Tyler’s issues. Lots of people wear glasses and he will adapt, everyone else does. As for the murmur, it is more common than you think. The are a few precautions to take, but most people have almost no impact on their life (that would include me—I don’t even think of it until I see it on a medical form) :wave2:

Is anyone else going to put up signs on your cabin doors? My DDs are going to be celebrating their 12th bday on the cruise and I am putting up Happy Birthday signs. I would like to try to get them up so they can see them when we arrive at the room. I have only 2 solutions. Either leave them at lunch and run down to put them up myself or see if Disney will put them up. Has anyone here ever tried to sending them to DCL before the cruise to see if they would put them on the door before we arrive?

It's def. cheaper to do it on your own. I haven't read anything about it being a problem to do it on your own vs. thru DCL. But, if you're concerned, you could post a note on the main board or maybe trip reports to see if anyone's done it on their own lately and how it went. If you do- please let me know what you find out! Don't forget to print out the coupon from their website, just in case you decide to go on your own, you can save $3/adult, $1/child. The only thing I haven't figured out is if the taxi's charge for kids under a certain age- the web says approx. $8/pp taxi but I don't know if the kids count.

Still no docs :(

Hey Holly!

Thanks for the congrats to Abbs! She definitely has goals.
Don't worry too much about the eyesight. Abby actually needed glasses the summer between kindergarten and 1st grade...by the end of fourth grade her eyes had corrected themselves! Maybe it will work out! As to the heart murmur, keep that faith, trust, and pixie dust! Knowing early will allow you all peace of mind as he goes through life and can be active...with limits! :thumbsup2

Captain Jack...during our cruise last month our middle child turned 12 and we did do the sign on the door! He loved having it up! :woohoo: We also ordered a cake, but they had to deliver it the first day. The best news...they have changed the birthday cake in the dining rooms!!!! The cake they are now serving is wonderful!!!! I almost wish we had not ordered the first one!

Thanks for everybody's positive comments. Sorry I sounded like a Nervous Nelly about Tyler! His doc says she thinks the murmer is just a Stills murmur, which I have since learned is nothing. She told me it shows up in kids age 2-6 and that it's basically just an echo that can be heard because of the size and shape of their heart and chest cavity and that as they grow, by age 6 it won't be heard anymore, but if it's still there after that, then they'll check further into it. So in the meantime, no worries....life as usual. :thumbsup2 I was just sort of shocked that day because as you know, you never want to hear anything about your kid from the doctor other than "everything's perfect". I ended up talking to her today on the phone because I had more questions and was very reassured by all she told me. Then I looked it up online and felt even better. :o

Back on topic now!!! My TA told me she expects to receive my docs any day now (DUH!) and will then forward them to me. So I have at least a few more days left before I'll get mine. :sad2:

COOL! Not having any experience with glasses, I had no idea eyesight can sometimes correct itself like Abby's did. Good to know!

Are you guys doing DCL or on your own? I have posted a thread to see what others have done and how easy that would be. I just thought of another concern - with kids the ages we have, 2, 3, and 4, what would we do about car seats? :confused3

Great! More stress and confusion... I may just opt for the DCL for the convenience. :thumbsup2
