Regarding the group getting together, I vote for a gathering in the promanade lounge on Saturday. Anyone else have an opinion?

Sounds good to me! That's what we did last time. ::yes::

OK. I'm having issues today... I'm feeling like a traitor because as of today, I'm booked on an 8 night Carnival cruise! I mentioned to a friend of mine that I was desperately trying to figure out a vacation I could take without my son (for the first time in his 4 little years). She invited me to join her on the cruise she's taking with her family and the rest is history. Didn't have to twist my arm too much! I'm really excited to see what a cruise is like without my son, where I can do whatever I want, whenever I want! :) BUT, I'm worried that I'll constantly be searching the ship for all the Disney characters and asking for Mickey bars for desert! :rotfl2:

So for those of you who have cruised on other lines, how do you handle DCL separation anxiety?! :confused3

<Note to self> Remove Holly from Christmas Card list. She's gone to the dark side. :rotfl2:
Seriously, you do what you gotta do! I'm looking at a group trip next year that will NOT include DCL, simply because of the nature of the group going. Just don't let your trip be affected because you internally compare Disney & Carnival the entire time. I'm sure you'll have a good time!

Well, the group I'm going with consists only of adults. There's no way I could talk them into Disney. But it will be good for me to realize there are other cruiselines out there and to experience one. The only bad part of that itinerary is there are no days at sea (which is my favorite part). Every day is a different port. The good part is that Carnival's Eastern has different stops than our Disney Eastern, with the exception of St. Thomas. So I can get a little variety and then do Disney again the time after that when I have my son with me.

Carnival will be perfect for an adults only playtime! :) Don't worry, I'm still a DCL-a-holic! And on that note, it's time for me to get my focus back on this cruise! :woohoo:

Anybody else thinking of doing BOB in St. Thomas?

HEY? Where did everybody go? :confused3 For having such a large group, it seems like only a handful have been active here recently.

Hmmmmm.....Now that I'm completely paid up and really feel part of this group, everybody went away....Maybe I better check my deodorant! :upsidedow

I am more than ready. It is just that I measure it out. Too much time is going to be spent on the road over the next eight weeks. There are just a few things that the DW and I need to purchase, memory for the camera, sunscreen, etc.

This has been a rapid fire cruise for us. We reserved using DVC points about 6 weeks back. We had been trying to decide what to do for a vacation this year as we did not get a chance to take one last year due to relocating to the Atlanta area. We both need to relax from the stress of the last few years. We had been pulling out the photos of the cruise we took in 2004 and then just decided to take the plunge. She has started pouring over the menus of late and we are going to be trying a "new" restaurant in Epcot the Friday night before the cruise. We are staying in SSR a couple of nights before cruise after driving down. Friday morning I think we are heading to the MK for a couple of quick rides, but most of the time is going to be spent in Epcot. Saturday morning we will be driving to the terminal and park the car for the week. Then it is full relax mode for the week. Plus the added bennie of sleeping in the same bed for seven nights in a row.

We will be at OKW for the week prior to the cruise and 1 day at WLV after the cruise. The amount of time before we leave is frustrating, but we just load up and go to disneyland. We just spent the last week there just so the kids would think that we were on vacation. Staying at a hotel 30 minutes from our home is kinda wacked, but the kids love staying there. We really do want to meet everyone from the dis. It seems like a great community of people.

What I want to know is who is signing up for the martini and margarita tasting? Has anyone done these and how are they?

I don't know about those two, but the DW and I want to do the wine and beer tasting. Well for the beer it is more of me that wants to that one. I read on a thread that the margarita is more a tequila tasting than a margarita tasting.

Well, I'm glad I jump-started a few of you folks into getting back in touch with the boards! :thumbsup2 Great to hear everybody's plans. We're staying in Orlando to go to WDW after the cruise until Tuesday morning. Not sure where we'll stay yet, originally had Pop Century booked but cancelled that to pay for the rest of the cruise. Went to Orlando a month ago and stayed at Days Inn Seaworld...liked it just fine. Very cheap and conveniently located. But the most important part to us is the cruise! :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'll be doing the beer tasting! I wanted to do it last time, but couldn't get my little monster to stay in Oceaneers. After almost having a mental breakdown from so desperately needing some alone time, I finally convinced him to spend 2 hours in the club on the last night. It was GREAT because I sat in the hot tub, under the stars, and got a teeny tiny taste of what the relaxing part of cruising is supposed to be about.

BUT this time, all he talks about is how he can't wait to go to the kids' club (because he remembers how cool the pirate ship play structure is). In fact, tonight at bedtime he told me the first thing he wants to do when we get there is have a Mickey bar and then go to the club! WOOHOO! I'm hoping this means I'll be able to do the beer tasting and galley tour and a few other things I wanted to do last time.

Sorry been a little off! We drove down to our Florida house and are here till mid-August with a family cruise July 29th! That always sets up our September one pretty well! By that time, we are definitely appreciative of the one on one time! ;)

We went in to MK today and the line for POTC ride was clear out to the sidewalk! The kids were shocked. So was I! pirate: I was also really glad we got in on the soft opening!

We went friday night to see Pirates of the Caribean (spelling?) , the excitement keeps jumping up a level every so often. I wonder if I will bust before the cruise!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far. I am sitting here at work nursing a sunburn as we speak/type! Spent the day @ Six Flags!!

Other then that have been busy dreaming and shopping for the cruise!! I officially started my cruise box a week ago. Ready for box 2! Did anyone visit the thread/post with pictures of the different foods/desserts? YUM!!

:jumping1:

I got that cruise box idea here on this great board!! Wouldn't have a clue about this cruise without this board!! Thank You, everyone!!
