I'm told the course has changed for next year's half, but I can't find the course map at the WDW marathon Web site. Can anyone point me to the map? Thanks!
Hi Lani,
I met you at Boma's after the race. I haven't seen a course map yet, but www.disneyworldsports.com says that it will start at Epcot go to MK and end at EPCOT with the 1/2 crossing the same finish line that the full marathon will do on Sunday.
I know that you will NOT start parallel to the full runners--but instead about 1 mile to a mile and a half in (just outside the approach to the auto plaza at EPCOT).
The extra distance will be tacked on at the end and get you to EPCOT--I don't believe that you will run through as much of world showcase as you did this year.
I've got the map: It's on the back of the registraton form provided at Expo.
On the old Course--you start at what was mile marker 1 . You head straight for the overpass of World Drive to the cloverleaf (mm 1), you round the "exit" and head on World Drive to the autoplaza veering left past the Auto Care Center (mm 2 & 3) through the parking lot as before to mm 4 then onward to Contemporary Hill. When you past the Contemporary, that is mm 5 and you go into MK. As you exit, that is mm6 and past the Grand Floridian is mm7. MM8 is just before the parking lot and MM9 is just past it--then you back track the way you came before to the Overpass of World Drive (mm9) and as you get on that cloverleaf exit that is mm10. You round that and head straight to EPCOT. Mile 12 is as you get to the Entrance...you enter EPCOT and go around Spaceship Earth...up to the lake and turn around and go to the otherside of Space Ship Earth--out an exit, veering to the right for your BIG FINISH. You do not go through World Showcase at all .
I know that exit isn't really a Cloverleaf exit--but it looks like 1 leaf (mile 6 on the marathon course if you look at the 2005 map).
Hi Lisalovespooh (congrats on running all that way while sick by the way, that was truly amazing) - does the marathon course look the same as before. I have my book from 2004 and keep getting it out to excite myself but wondered if they might change anything now they've split the races.

Marathon course looks the same--though there is a smidge of deception at Mile 20--it looks like you turn into Wide World of Sports a little bit and then turn around and go back the way you came on Osceola. In reality--you do the turn around on Osceola.
Can anyone scan the course map for the marathon next year? I wish I had picked up the registration form while at the Expo. I think I was too overwhelmed to even think about doing this again next year, but I have to say the bug has hit me.
Thanks for at least trying it. Maybe it will be posted on-line soon too. I think that I will be registering on Tuesday. I'm just giving myself a couple of additional days before doing so. We will be home early in the morning. I know it won't be a long trip next year if I do it, but just for a few days and that would be fine too since we'll have just been down here for two weeks in Dec. 05.
Here is what I scanned. Sorry it came out so crappy! I will have DH help me later to perhaps scan just the map itself so that the map image will be better.
The Half Marathon course is blue though it is barely visible.
Thanks for trying to scan it, Lisa. Hopefully WWOS will have it online soon. That's a bummer that the World Showcase portion has been eliminated. That was COOL!! For me, running backstage in Epcot was nasty. Lots of bad smells.
Some of the smells backstage at EPCOT were less than ideal. I think they wanted to motivate us to go faster! My DH did the full marathon, and he said the Animal Kingdom really smelled. The smells even made the water taste funny at the water stop at mile 15.
