:car: We're on the road again, headed to North Carolina to help Dawn get settled in at her new home for the next 2 years.

It will be a quick trip - we should be back Saturday night sometime.

Have fun!!! Good luck to Dawn in her new adventure!!!

pixiedust: safe travels!

I'm on the road this weekend to Michigan with Cameron & the Boy Scouts. Maybe I'll see you along the way.

We went to Disney's Doorway To Dreams last night at our local mall. We saw Tina & Tim, Tina's girls and Tim's Dad. The VAKL model is beautiful. We didn't leave the mall until after 10 p.m. All the stores were closed by the time we headed to the models. They provided us with complimentary beverages (even the good stuff ;) ) and a dinner buffet. We walked in thinking that we were not going to add on, but then the idea of having an even number of points occurred to us (we now have 482 -- who has 482 points? :confused3 ). The incentive package they offered sounds like a very good deal. We now have 6 days remaining to make our final decision as to whether we go ahead with an add on or not.

They gave us a bag of goodies on the way out. Walker's favorite was putting the blinking "Doorway to Dreams" pins on each of the Mickey ears which were in the gift bags. Imagine driving home with those flashing, it's a wonder I didn't pull over, thinking Officer Friendly (or Curt ;) ) was behind me. :rotfl2:

Tina & Tim, what did you decide about doing an add on? We saw you snickering over there waiting your turn with a Guide. :rotfl:

The Drinks were a good part of it!!! We were not expecting drinks and food. The incentives were good, very good...We went in there not wanting or needing to add on anymore points. Then we heard the incentives, and it was all over...I practically ran to set up an appointment with a guide. (it was the one beer that I had...I swear!!) We went on the tour, got some goodies...luggage tags, mickey ears, pins, a door hanger, and few other things. Then we met with Amil (he helped us on the member cruise to add on), and we contimplitated an add on. and contimplated! And decided we would add on, but how much??? We knew it would be AKV, but not how much? We said if we go with the 110pts...its only $50 more a month to do 160, and then we get 240 developer points instead of just 110, but to do 200 is only $50 more than that and we get 400 developer points. We have a reservation at AKV for Dec. 28-Jan 5, and used our AKV points. So I asked if we could convert the reservation to the developer points since they have to be used within 1 year from August. They said of course, are the points on the reservation banked or borrowed? I said that we borrowed 18 or 20 pts...they said they could return them to the UY, and use the developer points. We decided to go with the 200pts. That puts us at alot of points 850....And lots more Disney to come for us!!! They were able to give us 2 100 pt contracts and still give us the incentive, so we walked out of there about 11 pm and have absolutely no plans to add on again!

I did see you guys over there talking to a guide, and I was snickering because I had no intention of talking to anyone abot adding on, and you didnt either, but we both still did it...Man did they know what they were doing with these incentives and the members! They got alot of us!

I had no idea they could or would do this. :scratchin

I borrowed point for our one night at AKL in November. I'm betting they could put those points back for us as well......that is provided we return within the 7 days. :rolleyes1

11 p.m. --- you were still there when we left. I wonder where you were hiding??

Hi everyone - I've been reading, but too busy to respond to everyone lately!! When does school start up again??? :rotfl2:

Anyway - - -

Congrats Nick!! And Welcome back!!

I've watched that Greek show once, and it was cute, but Chris and I were discussing some of the things on it. Most of it wasn't anything like on campus where we were, maybe because we went to a small school and almost everyone was greek.

Congrats to Cindy & Tina who got to see the new DVC preview center in Chicago!! I used to work in that mall (what seems like many moons ago) at the GapKids. It seems weird that it has DVC in it now!

Congrats to Tina on the AKV add-on! And, good luck with your decision, Cindy! It's a tough one that we gave in on back in April on our cruise. We just couldn't resist the beauty of AKV.

Ok, so next, I need to share my proud mommy moment. Emily joined our local flag/tackle football & cheerleading organization a couple of weeks ago because she was begging to be a cheerleader. I don't know about everywhere else, but cheerleading is becoming quite competitive, with local gyms doing just cheerleading/tumbling competitions. I decided that was a little too much for a 5 (almost 6) year old. So, we went with a program that she would actually cheer for a team (not a gym).

Anyway, so she started a few weeks ago, and they've been rained out several days, and she missed a few due to being at my sister's for a week. Well, at the very first practice, they explained to the girls (these are 4-6 yr olds) what the Spirit Stick was and how you got it. Well, Emily was a bit disappointed that she didn't get it that first day, but we just kept telling her to work hard and she would get it someday.

Last night at practice, she kept talking about how she thought that she might get the Spirit Stick tonight, and I just kept telling her that she'd just have to wait and see, that there are lots of little girls (probably about 30). So, practice was over, and Emily comes running over with the Spirit Stick in her hands. She had gotten it!!

Here's her proud little moment - -

We had no idea that they could either...So now we are trying to figure out what to do with the points??? We had no vacations planned for 2008, except the one that starts in Dec of 2007. So now we are talking about Spring break of the end of July.

We were in the bar area talking with Amil about the add on. Didnt see you guys again either...Hmmm

WOW that sounds like fun Cindy and Tina - and free DRINKS TOO??? :cool1:

Ok say it with me everyone... we will not add on we will not add on... LOL!

Amy - Emily's so darn beautiful and I love that she got the stick already!!!

2, 4,6,8,....Who's spirit is really great? Emily's, Emily's Emily's:cheer2: :cheer2:

We're back - Dawn is all settled in - well, except her mattress isn't going to be delivered until Tuesday, but she'll survive. She's renting a room from a girl who's parents purchased a 2 bdrm 2 1/2 bath townhouse condo for her to live in. It's very nice and most of their neighbors are senior citizens. That should keep the parties down. :thumbsup2

Cindy and Tina, sounds like you guys had a great time at the Doorway to Dreams. Ah, go ahead, buy more points - whatelse are you going to do with all your money ;) We booked AKL for 2 nights in November. I can't wait to stay there. I have seen alot of pictures of the rooms and they look great.

WAY TO GO EMILY on getting the SPIRIT STICK :cheer2:

Ok, I think I'm all caught up, now it's time to go and get unpacked again.

Congrat Tina on your addon!!!

Cindy - Have you decided? Are you going to be my neighbors?????
Hope your weekend "up north" went well with the boy scouts.

Stacy - tell Nick congrats on all his badges he received. Great job.

Diana - Hows the packing??????????? Are you having a HUGE garage sale for all those WINTER items????

Mary - Congrats on your grand daughter - she is beautiful.

- i believe I am all caught up.

Erin

Gail - glad you trip went smoothly - and I'm sure Dawn will enjoy her new adventure! North Carolina is a nice place.

Amy - congrats to Emily!

Tina and Cindy - I remember when I saw the preview rooms at SSR - couldn't make it out to Chicago on such short notice altho I did get an email invite - I tried to figure out how I could get more pts and for AKL! However, my brain ruled this time and I will enjoy a stay or two there in the near future, I hope.

Now, to let you all know - I will be travelling big time soon! I'm leaving in less than 2 weeks to bring the Magic back to Florida from the Med - with my cruising buddy, Karen. And, she twisted my arm to do yet another cruise, not Disney, at the end of September to Hawaii with her and one of her friends - made for a great price so it was really, really hard for me to say no altho at first I did say "no, I don't think I can". But, being a woman, I changed my mind. Then in Nov, I will be heading out to DL for my 55th bday and then in Dec, I will be going to WDW for Christopher's first visit to see the Mouse! So, I really hope I don't miss any big changing events but will check in when I can. So much to do before my travels set in again.

I will be finishing up 2 more CJs that Gail was nice enough to pass off to me early so I can do them and pass them along.

Enjoy what's left of the summer everyone - seems to be going by so fast!

Cindy - Have you decided? Are you going to be my neighbors?????
Hope your weekend "up north" went well with the boy scouts.

But you didn't sing the song yet? ;)
So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please won't you be my neighbor?

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We went up to the mall this afternoon to finish up the paper work and get this, they turned us away!!! The first CM we talked to said that we could come back within 7 days to complete the addon to which I said we had to complete it by Wednesday to keep within the original 7 days. He said, you want to see a guide?? I said, yes, that's exactly what we want to do. He told us to hold on a minute, he'd be right back. Came back and said that a guide would be with us in a minute. Then the manager CM appeared and asked if we could just leave the deposit check and they would send us the paperwork in the mail, because they were swarmed with people coming in and doing addons/buying for the first time, and they just didn't have the manpower to do the paperwork with us right there on the spot.

I had called our guide on Friday and my understanding in talking to her is that these developer points had to be used within 12 months, but that they could be used at any resort and used at anytime either 11 months out at our home resort, or 7 months out at any other resort.

Gary & I had decided that we'd like to try to get a GV in Hilton Head next summer, to maybe share with friends, and we'd need those developer points in order to do that. But, today the CM manager said that's not a possiblity.

I can't call our guide because she just left on a cruise over the weekend. So, I guess I'll be calling MS tomorrow as that's what the manger suggested to do.

Nothing like putting a monkey wrench in our plans. :headache:

Mary, I hope your arm isn't too sore. ;) :lmao:

Safe travels!

Sounds like you have a very busy rest of the year planned. Enjoy those cruises. Even though the Hawaii one isn't on Disney, you'll see that other ship lines have very nice cruises.

We'll work out CJ schedules in between times that you will be home!

AMAZING!!!!!!! not..... I am not surprised with anything Disney lately. 3 price increases for tickets in 1 year.... the cruise line and the new 100 bucks a person tax..... food plan changes - get rid of the tip ( I feel sorry for the servers now).... but you and I know what they know -- we will go back again and again and again.... guess we are the SUCKERS!!!!!

Is that only on the repo cruise, Erin???

I agree with you on the dining plan changes. It really will be the CM's who suffer from the lack of tips. Because, IMO, a lot of the people who do the dining plan, do it for a bargain and could skimp then on the tips. No everyone sees servers like some of us do. Remember the one we had at Johnny Rockets who as big of a group we were remembered our drink ordered and kept on top of those refills! :cheer2:

To me what that will translate to is less than steller service in a lot of the restaurants especially when the servers know that someone is on the dining plan. :sad2: Somehow, I suspect that will be another turn for Disney that some will end up talking about in a less than positive light. :rolleyes1
