2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

I called MS yesterday and got the same prices that you had posted on the web board. I think MS are upset with people calling upset about the higher prices for points and cash.

Debbie I don't think Diana meant it that way. This group is very chatty but really everyone is welcome. We didn't have a fish extender on the Member Cruise but when I saw them in person I thought they were so cute that I bought one when we got home.

We did have a notepad on our door and got some nice notes.

My only regret is there were a number of people that I only got to see once or twice. But you know what -the same thing happened on the 10 day cruise! Sometimes people are just on different cycles and don't cross paths.

I dont want to get flamed or make anyone mad, but this comment reminds me of HS and why I feel left out.
I dont have acess to a computer until after 3pm.
You guys are so chatty, its almost impssible to keep up.
I do come and make some posts, but they seem to get lsot in the shuffle.
I realize that its hard to be an active part of a group wothout posting abilites. but I guess the word "popular" makes me feel bad.
I never had a note in my fish..
Actually I dont think I ever ran into anyone again after the sail away party except for Mary and that was the CC day ane it was after we learned we were going to Ft Lauerdale.
Oh Debbie - We don't want you to feel left out at all!!! There are TONS of people that don't have all-day access to this thread. However, I'm a stay-at-home mom now (not by choice, by layoff) and this is my one way to stay connected to adults. And, I feel like I made some great friends on the last cruise. I don't know if we met on the last cruise, but that's because I'm HORRIBLE with remembering people's names, etc. And, it may not seem that way here, but I'm a VERY shy person. There were a few people from this thread that I had "connected" with and felt comfortable just walking up to say HI. But overall, I don't just go up and start talking to people, it makes me uncomfortable.

With all that being said, I sure hope that we can connect on SSMC06, and just stop by here when you can to say HI. The whole "inside joke" magnets came out of bizarre discussions on this board about some really weird things. And, someone made magnets for those who may have been in those bizarre discussions. I don't think that anyone was intentionally left out.

(((Debbie)))) I gotta say... I am one of the top 10 posters to this thread and I dont feel like I am in the 'in group'. And I know you 'in group people' dont see it, but it is there... and it;s normal for it to be there... most of you have met.... you JUST got off the last member cruise, heck a lot of you are posting like mad on both member threads... lol

I guess Debbie... you gotta jump in at night... maybe even take notes (I take notes so I dont confuse people) Share a bit more on what your plans are... what cabin are you going for?? How many phones are you useing?? Points or Cash... Just jump in...

I know I wont ever be in the 'in crowd' but I plan to hover just outside of it, and hopefully having some fun.

Like Amy said, I'm not sure if we met or not. And, I'll also agree with Amy in the sense of this thread is a great outlet for me throughout the day. I provide home daycare for 7 children 5 & under. I never spend my days with another adult around. Sometimes it's hard to live my day at a preschooler/toddler/infants level. And, this thread provides me with a way to keep connected with those adults.

Many of us formed friendships on the last member cruise that we will carry with us. We also met some very nice people who don't have that same level of friendship (with me at least). But that's okay. We met, we chatted, we've moved on. I met one couple in line, waiting to get on the Wonder. The ladies name was Mrs Q (I think, are you out there lurking? :wave2: ). We talked while waiting. I did not remember them posting our the member thread but a couple of times and I don't think they did that often. But, I did read what they posted. And, I know they said they gained knowledge from our thread. Which is the best news of all.

I know I read your posts. I may not have always responded, but I did read them. How are you son's doing? I remember they had some very scary situations ahead of them. I hope and pray everything is well with them.

Where this thread is going to lead all of us, who knows? But, I would suspect that there will be other things that happen in the next 11 months that form us (everyone!) into a new group of friends.

Oh Laura - we don't want you to think that either! Here's my experience, when I started posting on the SSMC05 thread, I had never even been to a member event, so I felt like I was on the outside looking in. But, in time, I started to post more, learn who people were, found out that some of us shared a LOT of common interests and I came out of my shell! I really felt comfortable opening up about me and my family and I made some great friends and didn't feel like an "outsider" anymore. But the truth is, I wasn't an outsider by the others on the thread, I was the one making myself feel like the outsider. For me, I just had to jump right in and become part of the group.

So, again, with that being said, there is no "IN" group. There are just some people that became friends on the last cruise that are posting here now because we want to cruise again. So, jump right in, tell us about you and become our DIS friend too!!! :cheer2:

Laura, you are wrong. If you are feeling that the in crowd is those of us who sailed together and formed friendships on the member cruise are the "in crowd", I can tell you that's not the case.

None of us look to exclude anyone. None of us are looking to be the "in crowd". We all just had a blast together and found over the months that we had a lot of things in common. That's where the Twilight Zone came from in a lot of our signatures. We found we had so many things in common, that we started using the phrase "TZ moment".

Did you know that Alikatt99 (Amy) grew up just a hop skip and a jump from where I live now?

Did you know that Diana and Stitch#1 (Stacy) live just a couple of miles from each other. They didn't know each other before meeting online on the the member cruise thread.

Several of us have the same type of vacuums (Dyson  ) which is what started our discussion of the Henry's vacuums on the ships.

Lots of little strange coincidences.

Please do not feel that you will not be part of the "in crowd". There isn't one, we are just a group who formed a friendship, based on our love the Disney, our common bound of DVC and having a great time together. And, because I know all of them, I can tell you with absolutely certainty, we are not intentionally excluding anyone.

I'm sorry if anyone feeling have been hurt. :guilty:

Fear none, we will have a great time on next years member cruise!!

Cindy

Cindy and Amy said it very well. It is all about the friendships.

Some of us sailed on SSMC03 together!

Some of us met at Member Homecoming!

Then a great number of us sailed on SSMC05 together!

Through all that friendships grew. Cindy mentioned the Twilight Zone and when we finally hit a big one (two posters with almost identical board names, both named Ann Marie (the other was Annmarie) and both married to men named Tom)! Mark and I made TZ magnets and gave them to everyone who had asked for buttons. It was fun to see them all over the ship. The "in crowd" were the DIS'ers - all of us!

From the DIS meet at Pleasure Island, to the DIS meet on board. People came over and joined us just to see what was going on. And you know what they were made welcome. We offered them the brochures we had picked up about Key West, Amy offered them pens she and Chris had brought.

Someone asked David (the DVC rep on the cruise) about the button he was wearing (it was one of the DIS ones). He called my room and asked if we had any extras and could we give one to this person. No problem - left it on his fish!

I am sure that SSMC06 will expand the friendships already there and make many new ones as well.

Boy, I have a really sick feeling in my stomach right now! I really don't want anyone to have the feeling that they are not a part of this group. As Cindy can tell you, I am Switzerland, always trying to make everyone happy. I have NEVER been a part of the "IN" crowd, it's just not where I've ever been. And, I really don't want anyone to think that way. I try to be friendly to everyone (I may not remember your name, since I'm bad at that), but I try to be nice. That's just what my mom taught me! I grew up VERY poor, so I was always picked on and made fun of while I was growing up. I was never included in the "popular" group, and NEVER want anyone to feel like that now.

Please know that we want to be friends with anyone that posts here. We need to make this SSMC06 group a great one. We will have our own "inside" jokes, and not to exclude anyone from this group, but those not on the DIS just won't understand. Heck, I turned LOTS of people on SSMC05 onto the DIS, because they wanted to know more about us, since we seemed to be having SO much fun.

So, please, please, please, don't feel excluded from anything, because it's NOT intended to be that way, at all!!!

Listen guys.... and gals.... I am in no way complaining. Really I am not. And I am sure by the time the cruise rolls around I will be a part of several inside jokes... (hopefully in a good way lol), It's just it is hard to jump into a well established group, esp one with lots of time online.... hee hee.... but I do it... heck I am in the top 10 posters to this thread. :wave2:

It's just harder... that's all. No biggy for me, but Debbie feels a bit left out. That is life I guess, I was just trying to let Deb know that I knew how she felt. :grouphug:

Please Laura, keep on posting! Aren't you the one that used to have a link to her home remodel on her signature or is that someone else? I'm pretty sure it was you, and if that's the case, I read that ENTIRE thread the other day. It was SO interesting to follow. And, if you are the one, then you have kids that are around my daughters (at least my older one). And, don't you live in the Chicagoland area? Maybe? I could be confused, I do that A LOT.

I'm not Laura ( ;) ) but I can tell you yes to all of the above. I also followed the remodeling project. And, Laura, I don't know if you know, but I faithfully read your "Live from Hilton Head" report. I even posted the picture of Little Toot on that thread.

And, we've met. You probably don't remember it, but I do. At one of the Chicago DIS meets at Gino's. :)

OK, I'm not going crazy! I looked at Laura's signature, and her link was gone, so I thought maybe it was someone else. I used to live in the Chicago area too, but left back in 1997 to move to central FL. I just couldn't be too far from the Mouse, but I don't tell Chris, because he thinks I moved for him. :rotfl2:

How old are your kids, Laura? Emily just turned 4 and Madison is 18 months.

Well gosh! Who knew anyone knew me... lol ( I guess that is very telling of my sub concious self confidence levels... lol)

I never did post final house pictures... maybe I will take photos pf the house all decked out with it's Christmas attire for the final pictures. Can you beleive how snooty some of those people got towards the end of it... lol

And again, I am in no way complaining... I wonder if others on this thread think I am in this group, since I post a lot... and I guess I am.

Like others have said, we are all in this group... some of us know each other better than others, but that wont stop anyone from getting to know us or vice versa... Lots of love to go around.

I had to remove the link to add the member cruise logo... siggy was too big with the link :-(

My girls are 6 and as good as 5 and the boy is 2 (7, 5, 3 at sailing)

I guess since I'm the one who offended everyone I need to comment at some point. By "in" crowd I honestly thought everyone would take that as "us" the DISboard people. Just about all of us decorated our doors in some way....and no one else really seemed to (read-non DIS people). So that's what I was labeling "in" as in we are cool b/c we're from the DIS. I didn't mean to offend, and have deleted my post but I really think it was read a little too much into.

ETA and if you looked at my next post after my "offending comment" I did say everyone was in the "in" crowd. So I think a lot was made by taking something out of context.

I would LOVE to see final house pictures with all it's Christmas grandeur. Chrismas is my favorite season. I even got married the week before Christmas because I love it SO much. So, I would LOVE to see it all decked out.

This is too funny about the TZ magnets. I thought it was strange there were two Annmarie's who were married to Tom's who were going on the 2005 member cruise who were BCV owners! I had to check the screen name on posts sometimes to make sure it wasn't me!

Any way, I was in Bed Bath and Beyond the other day and saw some magnet write-on/wipe-off boards on clearance and guess what colors they had? If you guessed DIS green as one of them you are correct. The other color was purple. DH thought it was too big to pack and carry with everything we received this year. It was a bit big - 12"x12" but I may sneak back and buy it if they are still available.
