Welcome to the group, nanajoy! If you have any questions, ask away. Some of us are repeat cruisers, so we'll do our best. We're all keeping our fingers crossed for 12/3.

Hi and welcome. Our first cruise was SSMC05 and it was great! We can't wait for December 3 either. Annmarie

I did the spa on Key West day, but we weren't getting into KW until noon. So, I did my appt at 8am. But, that might not work for a
later-riser.

Like Amy, I had my spa appointment at 8am on Key West day and really that would have been the only time where I didn't feel like I was missing something.

OK, I feel like such a GEEK now... I am sorry...

Debbie, I really do like the Minies, but I will say this in the nicest way I know how... I REALLY HATE COLD EGGS. I will also say that The Minies are much better fresh too. I do get quite annoyed with the staff there, especially when they forget to give me something etc, but I do keep going back...

I will call Member Services next week to verify this spa thingy...

The food and the service at the Champagne Brunch was wonderful. We are happy that we attended but it was definitely not a soldout event. And I had expected there to be DVC CM's present, but that wasn't the case. Shortly before we were done, I was approached by a CM who asked if I was celebrating my birthday. I told her that my birthday was the previous Tuesday. I was presented with a belated birthday orchid corsage and a violinist played Happy Birthday to me. I was completely surprised as I did not mention my birthday when I made the reservation and my DH didn't tell them either. I assume that DVC must have researched the guests that were attending the brunch. Others received balloons and a single rose, but ours was the first table approached. As we were leaving, we each were given DVC wine glasses. This brunch was presented in connection with the Food and Wine Festival. It was expensive, as was Member Homecoming, but once again, DVC did an outstanding job. As this was the day we were leaving, we felt it was the perfect way to end our vacation.

Its been about 5 years since we went on a Disney Cruise and it was all handled by a TA. We are planning on going on the 2006 members cruise this next year. I was wondering about the procedure for making the necessary plans to be transported to the ship by Disney Cruise Line. Do we just make our own air arrangements and then call Disney and let them know we want the transportation or what? Can I make this request when we call to book the cruise or what??. It was so much easier when the TA did it for us and we just got the packet in the mail....smjj

Boy! It's dangerous to take a day off from this thread! I agree that it's hard to keep up - it almost feels like another job! Albeit, a fun job.:flower:

I also have to agree with mrsdon concerning feeling kinda out-of-the-loop. This thread truly seems warm, welcoming, and accepting, but I have noticed on some others that if you're not a "regular", forget it. I occasionally post a question or comment, and never get much of a response (though, in fairness, the responses that I do receive are helpful and friendly). What's a paranoid, low self-esteem girl to do??? :worried:

I'm kinda bummed that I missed Kristy Carlson Romano on the last Member's Cruise. I secretly aspire to look like Kim Possible... (Well, so much for the "secret" part. ) I would be excited to have Raven onboard! That girl can sing !!!

Here's my late entry into the Getting-To-Know-You file:
Name: Karen (37)
Spouse: Curt (curtdennis) (40)
Children: Nope. Never. (If I ever want to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'll put shoes on my cat.)
Residence: Plymouth, MI ('bout halfway between Detroit and Ann Arbor)
Pets: Several rescued cats, and two Ring-Necked Doves (also rescues)
Home Resort(s): HHI, BCV, and SSR

Only two more weeks! :hourglass

Good morning hopeful cruisers.

Call in day is 2 weeks away!

It is so great to see so many new people posting.

Elaine - thanks for telling us about bruch. Sounds like you had a really nice time!

SMJJ- if you need Disney transport I think you tell Member Services and they add it on. Hopefully someone can clairfy that used it. We have done it for some of our regular cruises but not the Member Cruises.

Karen - sorry to confuse. Christy Carlson Romano was actually on the 10 day DCL cruise that we did. I was responding to Cheryl who suggested her for the Member Cruise. Which does not mean we were without entertainment on the Member Cruise. We had Susan Egan (the original Belle on Broadway and also Meg in Hercules). She was WONDERFUL. We also had Art Linkletter sharing his stories of working with Walt Disney and of course all the wonderful kids he worked with over the years.

No one should feel left out! Just keep posting. That's how we all got to know each other. I've made true friendships from our threads.

Good Morning all....

SMJJ, Welcome!!!!!
In answer to your question, You tell Member services as you are booking, You can also add it later. If I recall it is $30per person per direction ($60 round trip). Before DS IAN was born we always took Disney Transport, but this yearwe will have a rental car and DW will want to minimize DS's (who will be almost 2 and have met his two Dis-cruiser Girlfriends) riding in a seat w/o a carseat. So we have agreed on a comprimise... We will take the Disney Transport back to the airport, but drive from the resorts. Again, While the "Wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round" there are no seat belts, so he will pretty much be a lap baby.

To everyone who doesn't quite feel like they aqre part of the group... Don't worry, the more you stick around, the more onside jokes you will get. If it really bugs you, PM someone else on the thread and start your own inside jokes... Everyone will become part of ALMOST all of them given a little time. We will become quite intimate...

And to Mark and Mary... Thanks soooo much for all of the little stuff you do for all of us. I mean the buttons and the website are a lot, but I know you do a lot more. Thanks again for your unrrquited giving and generosity... (BTW, Mary N&N still want to meet Bear!!!!!) Can that be arranged this time?)

:jumping2:

Good morning everyone... Ahhh so peaceful at this time of the morning. All heck is about to break out here though...

It's BIRTHDAY PARTY DAY for my dd 4 soon to be 5! I am about to jump in the shower, then dd and I are heading to super target to pick up her cake and some helium... then we have to do the horazontal sweep of the house (anything that is horazontal in this house has papers on it...lol) and then we can start decorating for an 11 am party! LOL

Oh yeah.... busy day.

PLUS Today is the first day of the Chicago DVC Event at the Fairmont! I cant wait to hear about it. We are going tomorrow..... Cant wait!!! LOL

AND, as it was already pointed out... 3 weeks from this morning we will all be in a chat room typing up a stormm, hoping we get thru to MS and get our first choice.

Oh yeah... great day!

Take care!

If you wait 3 weeks for the chat and to call MS, I think you'll be talking to yourself. :rotfl:

ohanafamily, you are absolutely right on with what you've said here. It just takes a little time to get to know everyone, but once you do, look out. And the inside jokes come quite easily around here....so I'm sure once we are booked there will be many to come.

And to the person who said it earlier, you will find that many people on here who seem outgoing are actually quite shy. We use this place to get over the shyness so when we actually meet, we can cut to the chase and have some fun right away!

I have to admit, I was on SSMC03 and posted a little on the thread. When it came time to cruise, I was in no way shape or form talking to any of those people! I was pertrified! Then SSMC05 rolled around and I decided cruising with kids, I was going to have to suck it up and make some friends, if not for me, then at least for them......look at the monster the DIS created. Point being, even the shyest of them all can turn completely around. You'll find this a fun place to hang, as little or as much as you can, and make a few good friends to make cruising that much better.

Good Morning Everyone! I can't believe we are finally down to the last two weeks. December 3 can't come fast enough.

If I recall it is $30per person per direction ($60 round trip). - thanks for this information Ohanafamily

I am amazed at how cheap Disney transportation is to/from the port. We used FL Tours and it was more expensive. Can someone who used Disney transportation please let me know what time you arrived at the port?

We took the DCL transport last year from POR. The bus was supposed to pick us up at 11:45, but it left at 11:30, went to OKW for a quick stop and we were at the port by 1:30.

ohanafamily, we also weren't comfortable with the two kids on the bus without car seats but we did it. In hindsight....we ended up being stuck on the bus from Ft Lauderdale anyway with Dan the crazy clean cell phone talking bus driver for 5 hours and they were fine. We didn't have a choice on that one either, so I figured God was on my side. We'll do DCL transfers again because it worked nicely for us last year, and the kids were both free (they were both under 3). But if I see Dan driving my bus....I'll walk to the port thank you very much!
