2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

We have the 7 day Eastern booked for the week after the Member Cruise already. The price of the 7 day and the 4 day Member Cruise are pretty much identical. So, is the Member Cruise THAT great to justify the cost (points or cash)? We are still thinking about it. Are the freebies, litho, DVC member welcoming REALLY worth the expense? We want more input from those that have sailed one of the member cruises before.

My husband and I are wondering (no pun intended) the same thing. We are already booked on the 9/16 Costa Maya cruise, and there is no way that we can swing both. Opinions and input would be greatly appreciated!

Is it worth it? Well there are an awful lot of us trying to be repeat cruisers so that should tell you something. There are also a number of us trying to make this Member Cruise #3 for us.

Having said that only you and your family can decide if it is right for you. Every time a Member Cruise comes up there are people who say it isn't a good value.

I only remember sitting in chat and hitting the redail button - I don't remember hitting a prompt. After getting connected I do recall being on hold as well.

Can we get a special chat arranged for the cruise call in date?

It was Robin that started it last year. Actually the chat room is open all the time so if Robin isn't around we can still meet in chat. I know it helped me while waiting to get through to be in chat with my DIS friends.

Also, generally it is 3,2 for the cruise MS. To book DVC rooms it is 3,3.
I think or the cruise it goes straight to anagent, but I don't remember...

Great! I had seen that info earlier in the week but couldn't remember if that was an actual quote from Member Services or a guess at what it might be. Looks like I'm going to have to cancel one of my summer DVC trips in order to get my category 6!

I think that it really comes down to you. Does it sound fun to you to spend your cruise with your DVC neighbors? I know that when the first member cruise was announced, we already had planned a 7-night cruise. We weren't sure about the actual value, so we decided to go with the 7-night and not the member cruise. It was our first cruise, and I'm glad that I did a long, first cruise. After I heard everything about the first member cruise, I was a little jealous, but I knew that I had fun on my cruise.

But, when the second member cruise came up, I knew that I wanted to be on it for my second cruise. We had a blast. Sure, the goodies were nice, but you can't count on the goodies, because you never know what you're going to get. But, the real joy for my family was the DVC friendships that we made.

So, only you can decide, but either way, I'm sure that you'll have fun on your DCL vacation.

I totally agree with Amy.

The goodies were very nice and much more than we expected (and we were on the first Member Cruise).

The guest speakers were great and again a better variety than they even had on the first (which was great).

However our #1 reason for doing DVC Member Cruises is the friendships we have made. Some have become casual friends while others have become true friends that we hope to see year after year. Some of us met on the first Member Cruise, then still more at Member Homecoming, still others we just met on this last Member Cruise. We have laughed together, we have cried together. We stand up for each other and don't let some people get us down. Most of all we all share a love of Disney and of DVC.

I, for one, can't wait until December 3rd. We'll be spending the morning here on the DIS and will be cheering as each person gets their reservation! Then we will have 10 wonderful months to celebrate here on the cruise meets thread.

I sure hope that my cabin mate and I are lucky enough to get a stateroom on the next Member cruise - I've done the first 2 and this will be her first and we're both looking forward to sailing with DVC!!!

We are still trying to decide if we are going to go. We would be taking the girls and they would have to miss their first gymnastics meet of the year. I am still trying to figure out how to get $4,000 by Dec. 3. Any ideas???? This decision is starting to drive me crazy.

We too will be repeating on the SSMC06 and I agree the friendships and memories make it worth while for us. We not only are getting married the Saturday after the cruise, but we are also going to be asking Matt's professors (he's a full time student at night while working full time during the day) to allow him to take his finals early.

We had a blast and when we heard it was a double dip I just couldn't pass it up -

Yes, it is more expensive to do the members cruise, but... for us, it means we can add on a couple of days to the F&W festival, which we couldnt do it we did a 7 day cruise....

I dont think I heard one person who went on the other cruises say it wasnt worth the extra money/points....

2 days at CC is perfect for our family.... although I wish is was also going to Key West.....

Timing... we wanted to cruise mid to late Oct.. good weather, good time for us to pull the kids from school...

Great DIS friends to meet and hangout with....
