We had a BIG surprise today! LAst night our area had a wind storm and knocked out power to a lot of areas of town. Well, we went to school today to find out there was no school today. Apparently, a lot of school's within our district had no power so they closed the whole district even though our school was fine. So, we handed out faculty Christmas gifts and DD returned her library books. Another Mom was doing the same thing and made a comment that her daughter would have to go to work with her because she had meetings all day. Well, I offered to watch her daughter and the three of us made a day of it.

The girls played for 1.5 hours while I paid some bills and did some work myself. Then we went to Chuck e Cheese, saw Charlotte's Web, went to Cold Stone for Ice Cream and they still had another hour to play when we got home. Fun Day! One of the best things is the Mom is a wine wholesaler and saw our opened wine bottles lined up on the counter (sure I'll watch yer kid :drinking1) and she will be getting one of her catalogs to me. YEAH!:thumbsup2 Maybe we can start getting a discount on all the wine we purchase. Now that would be a Christmas present to hubby.:rotfl:

Good morning everyone!

Hard to believe that a week ago I was at WDW, now I'm at home with this stupid cold. :) Well better now than last week. I was much better yesterday morning but maybe going to work wasn't such a good idea. Felt really bad last night and had a hard time sleeping. Luckily I have the weekend to rest up and get better.

Roxann - sounds like you had a fun day yesterday. You guys have had some scary storms up your way. Stay safe.

Erin - hope you all have a great time at WDW!

Stacy said it best so I'll just quote here.

Have a great trip ~~ Erin, Rich & Nick!! Walker wishes he was there riding SM with you!!

I am suppose to be camping with Cameron in a cave this weekend but decided late yesterday afternoon that I had a case of cold feet. So, I talked to Cameron who told me that he'd actually prefer Gary to go with him so that's what happened. They are on their way up to Wisconsin as they left at 5:30 this morning.

Walker & I will are planning to go up to the smaller mall. I'm sure it will still be crazy but not as bad as Woodfield. There is a ceramic store where people pick out ceramic pieces and then paint them. Walker loves to go there so we will. I'll take a book and pass the time that way while he creates whatever his imagination strikes him today.

Shopping is pretty much done, but I'm sure there are a couple of things we might pick up. I know Walker could use a couple pairs of jeans and Cameron could use a couple more long sleeve shirts so those don't count as Christmas gifts, but I know come January, I won't be able to find long sleeve stuff as the swimwear will be making an appearance.

We have to go out today to pick up a few last minute things. Mostly gift cards for those people who we have no idea what to get them. I'd rather spend the money and let them get what they want than spend money on something they say they like but they never use. :)

Plus we might have to wait in a line to see Santa. The REAL Santa who has always been at my parents mall isn't going to be there this year. When I watched him, *I* truly believed it was him. He was always SO patient even with the most unruly kids, he knew something like 6 different languages and was fluent in sign language. He LOOKED the part. But apparently this spring he had major heart issues and had a triple bypass and lots of problems. His doc told him "no long hours, no lifting kids, etc etc." So he hung up his Santa hat. Quite a disappointment for us b/c we've been making the trek to Cleveland since 1994 and the kids have ALWAYS had their picture with this Santa. This is probably the last year of belief in our house, so it's quite the let down.

My parents said I could still come up and see the Santa at their mall, but he's about 80 pounds and isn't as good with the kids. Sorry, not worth the trek up there. Of course, it's disappointing for them b/c this will be the first year since 1994 that they didn't do the Santa trip with the kids.

My plans for today are to get some wrapping done - at least I have to get Christopher's presents wrapped.

Saw Chris (sanddune) yesterday and delivered her pkg from WDW - her boys will be surprised. Mike isn't feeling too well so I will sent along some pixie dust to her and hopefully he will be on the mend before Christmas gets here.

Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate.

And happy travels to anyone who is lucky enough to be going to WDW - sure wish I were back there.

Mary - hope you're feeling better soon - try and rest - it will help.

I missed chat last night cuz I was helping a neighbor with making a bizillion (I like that word) cookies - we had fun and she loves to bake so I was in charge of taking the cookies off the pans and stacking them for wrapping. She does this every year for neighbors and friends and I had to make sure she kept her cool and didn't throw the cookie sheets on the driveway like I heard she did last year.
All turned out great and after about 6 hrs of baking, I was beat and came home to sleep so now I have to finish unpacking, wrapping, and running errands this weekend!

That's a great picture. Your story brought tears to my eyes. I have a cousin near Atlanta that goes to schools and company Christmas parties every year as Santa. He really looks the part, but doesn't know all the languages etc. One year, he and his wife went out for dinner on New Year's, and a little girl in the waiting area kept looking at him. Finally, she came over to him, and said in a shy voice "Thank you for the Barbie you gave me." He was of course dressed in his own clothes, but she was SURE he was Santa! He just smiled and said "I'm glad you liked it." Here's to those who know the spirit of Christmas and keep it alive every year!

OK, I've decided to do the CJ journals a little different if it's ok with everyone. Basically I can't afford to do it so what I'd like to do is send a tag with a line for Name, Location and a question possibly "what was your favorite cruise memory" or something like that to each person. I figure the DVD's would have enough pictures to make a page for each family that way. I just can't swing the postage guys and I'm sorry I won't be able to make a page for all of you or maybe I could make a pg and just send that along and not the whole book. There has to be a solution that would work. Thanks for understanding!
