Happy New Year All!
Not as eventful, thankfully, as your evening Steve, but we had our own emergency this evening.

What a way to start the new year with a trip to the ER to see whether our youngest needed to be stitched up or not.
We spent a wonderful day downtown at the Museum of Science & Industry. On the way home, we decided to go to a local restaurant and as we passed where Cameron's friend's mother works at a Treatment Center in Schaumburg, I made the comment that we should stop in for a visit as her van was parked in the parking lot. Little did I know that within an hour or so, we'd be there as patients.
We had a great dinner out and as we were leaving, Walker put his coat on and then went to put up the hood. Of course, he couldn't do it like anyone else and use his hands, he decided to do it his own way by flinging his head forward and having the hood go on moving his body. What he didn't realize was the wood chair that was smack in front of his face, so as he came forward, he smashed his face right into it.
Blood everywhere! Funniest part of that was there was a table of 4 men, sitting having dinner, and all the commotion at our table next to them didn't even stop their conversation a split second. I took Walker into the bathroom where they sent Gary to follow us. Still blood everywhere! We get a bag of ice and leave, still bleeding all the way home. I called our pediatrician who said we should take him in, as it was still bleeding and not only the inside of the lip, but the outside as well. It seemed as if he bite all the way from the inside of his lip to the outside.
So, to the Treatment we went after I called our friend to see who was working and whether they were competent or not or we would have gone to the big ER - and been there much longer.
Good news is that he didn't need any stitches. But he sure is a sight to be seen. His chin is scraped up, his lip is cut on the inside and outside and he has a fat lip which is huge. They put him on an antibiotic and said it could take up to 4 weeks to heal. Better news for him is he can have all the popsicles he can stomach.
I think we'll just start over the year tomorrow if this is a sign of things to come.
