2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006 Part 7

Wow Squid - not so fun!

Cindy - so glad to hear Walker is ok but WOW what an evening!!!

Steve after reading that I'm tired! Hopefully the rest of the year won't be as eventful.

Cindy - OUCH! Glad to hear he didn't need stitches, but the popsicles sound good.

Our new year started out pretty quiet other than waking up to a ton of snow and no electricity. It finally came back on about 1:00 ish. We had to take Dawn to the airport in the morning for her trip back to North Carolina so at least being in the car was warm. Of course she called when she arrived to tell us it was 55 and sunny.

Hi everyone happy new year. I was out on bay lake near that mysterious constructiion.

Very off topic but I seem to remember someone on here made the diaper cakes for baby showers - any chance you're still in that market and want to sell one? I'm told they are having a boy and it will be my second grandchild and the shower is planned for late February or early March.
Thanks in advance to whomever wants to step up to the task!

That's Diana that makes them and they are really cute!

Did I miss that announcement, Mary? Grandma again! How cool! :cool1:

Gail is right, Diana has made several diaper cakes for me as gifts for my daycare families. Diana does quite a nice job and everyone that has received them has been impressed with her work.

Congrats on becoming a Grandma again! That is great. Yes, I'm the diaper cake maker. I'll try to find a picture of the last boy cake I made, it's on the other computer, I know I have a pic of girl ones, I don't remember if I saved the boy pic. I'll send you an email.

Am I the only one who is dying to see American Gladiators tonight?

Wow I know its only been a week but so much is going on.

Cindy, how is Walker doing ? I hope he heals up quick. Our son had a similar injury during football one year that needed stiches but he healed pretty quick. Hopefully Walker will too.

Mary, Congrats on the new grandbaby news I am sure you will spoil that one to pieces too.

Diana, not sure I would have picked you out as a Gladiators fan. :happytv:

As for me I appreciate the wishes for a slow down and THANKFULLY yesterday finally was. However getting there was still a challenge.
Thursday was our monthly fire dept meeting night. That went well till about 9ish Then we were called to an apartment building fire in the town of Kankakee. (we are just west of them) Short story, around 100 residents of a senior/low income building, flames showing and thick black smoke when we got there, helped in the fire room, then helped evac wheelchair victims. Then a few other general chores at the scene and Squid gets home at 2 am.
Coleen and I were BOTH whipped on Friday and both worked Sat. Her dday in the ICU was crazy busy and I had a call for a 14 y/o girl hit by a car. She had a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain and a broken leg. They think she will pull through but its still early. Then up again during the night for drunks in a bar fight and a man who wanted us to tell him his nose bleed was bad enough for his wife to take him to the hospital:confused: So Sunday I was still pretty tired. Today she is watching our youngest DGD who is cutting teeth and has a fever. I get to run errends all day and then do FD training tonight.
Hope you all have good days.

Squid

Hi Noreen! Nice of you to stop on by. I still have my blinking Mrs.Lips tucked safely away so my kids won't run the batteries out on them. :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

Walker's doing much better. Almost done with the antibiotics. :thumbsup2 The dentist said the lose tooth will tighten up on it's own. The pediatrician said that they couldn't have stitched that part of his lip anyway -- so I wonder why he suggested we go in anyway. I suspect more of a CYA than anythng else at that point. :confused3 When he went off to school this morning, he looked like he had the remains of a grape popsicle on his chin. I'm sure he'll offer up the story to anyone who will listen as to what happened.

It sounds like you have been rather busy. Not a good thing. Barrel down the hatches as I just got an email that we are under a tornado watch now. I know you and Coleen usually suffer storms that are much worse than around here. Stay safe.

Wow, its seem you all have been busy! Happy New Year!

Cindy, glad to see Walker is feeling better!

Steve, Wow, you sure have been busy, hope things slow down a bit for you!

Mary, Congrats on being a Grandma the 2nd time around!

Not sure if I missed anyone, but if I did, sorry!

We are back from our trip to WDW, it was a good time! Weather was ok until Wednesday, and then it was cold for a few days...It started to warm up just as we left!

Thanks Diana and to everyone who answered my question. Just send me a pm or let me know here - if you have a price better to pm it I think and I most likely will just go ahead and order one anyway - the shower is March 2nd - day after Christopher turns 2 so it will be a busy weekend.

Welcome back, Tina.

Refresh my memory, where did you stay this trip? AKL? How was it?

Congrats Mary on the new grandbaby! As you can see, Ken had a good time at Christmas with ours!

Welcome back, Tina.

Cindy,

We stayed at AKV, and it was great! We had a studio for the first 2 nights as they had availability for a 1bdrm. We had savannah view, and it awesome...On NYE we came back to the room at about 1:30am to find 3 giraffes sitting in the tall grass eating. I think we sat out there until 2:30 or so, just watching. The rooms were ok in size...We did only have 1 bathroom in the 1 bdrm, but we did have the pull out chair so it worked well. The resort was busy, but its the time of the year!
My only complaint was the little box for the toilet...first of all there was no decor in there at all...just brown walls...2nd of all, you had to walk through the shower area to get to the toilet...Kinda goofy if ya ask me! But it all worked out ok. We had a fun trip, the kids enjoyed the Holiday decorations, and cant wait to go back again...Unfortuantely it wont be until 2009 for the Holidays at least! With the cruises we have booked, we have no more vacation time!

Steve, last night on the news they reported that the Kankakee River was flooding. Are you okay out there?

Thanks for the recap, Tina. Your right, that toilet area is like a box. I hadn't made that connection. We have friends who are going down on our points in March and I'm a little concerned as to what type of room they are going to get. They have seen the models at Doorway To Dreams and know that it's likely they won't have something that looks like that, but when we stayed there in November, I thought the 1 bedroom layout let something to be desired. I really hope they won't be overly disappointed.

Going back to diaper cakes---here's a picture of the one I made for Cindy in July.

Mary, I haven't forgotten about you, Julia started school this week and it's been a little hectic----I'm pm'ing you now.
