Last year I had my brother in law (who lives in Queens) get me kosher for passover sprite ( You can not get KFP Sprite here - no idea why not.)

I heard kosher.com is coming back soon.

Hey, we can always buy it for you here and ship it off to you packed in dried ice. That's the nice thing about our area - there is no shortage of kosher food.

Seriously, if there is anything you ever need that is non-perishable that you can't get in Orlando, give us a holler and we'll get it for you.

Hey there!
Yes I'm posting in the middle of the day on a Monday. Nick has had cough and runny nose since Thanksgiving and most of the long weekend a headache and itchy eyes to go with it so we stayed home today and made a trip to the doctors. Luckily it's nothing but I wasn't sure if he had bronchitis since he has issues with that in part due to his asthma.

Well the tree is now decorated and we had one little tragedy. Our one cat, Lucifer, was a bad boy last night and got on top of my entertainment center and knocked an ornament that was hanging from an ornament holder off and it broke. My poor Mickey glass ornament that we got years ago when energizer was doing a freebie thing lost an ear so off to trashland he went. :sad2:

Sandy - Happy belated 50th birthday surprise! I love throwing surprise parties and especially being at one to surprise someone. Glad to hear you had a good weekend.

Tina - Glad you had such fun at Discovery Cove. I have to agree with you about Universal Studios though. We took Jeff's family 2 years ago and it just wasn't as special.

Well...I am going to try to do a summary catch up...if I forget anyone I apologize!

Ilene...thats a great pic of your DD, I couldnt imagine watching one of my girls do that.

Julie...I absolutely love that pic, I bet it would be amazing to watch them set up for you wedding knowing its going to be perfect in a few hours!

Diana...WTG...tell DVC exactly what we all thought of the cruise and their presentation! Maybe the will understand how we felt when the announced the booking of the 07 cruise! Thanks!

Mary...Hope that you are feeling well soon!!

Chris...Thanks for collaborating all the pics and details for us!! Thanks for the extras you are including!

Amy...Great pic of the puzzle and magnet, Maybe I will get an unbroken CD, so I can listen!

Chris(ConleyFam)...Hope that you and your family are feeling better real soon!

Happy Belated Birthday, David and Julie!

To all of you Black Friday shoppers...I wish I were able to go shopping, but I had to have Tim and Lauren to the airport at 5:30am, and after that, didnt feel like shopping, so thanks for keeping up the tradition for me!!! Glad most of you were able to get what you wanted!

Judy...Great job on the surprise party for Sandy!! Sandy, Happy belated birthday!

OK...I think I got everyone, if not I'm sorry!! Have a great Monday!

Stacy...Hope Nick is feeling better soon!!

Cindy...Update, Mom wants to keep girls til Saturday afternoon for help with Christmas decorations :guilty: I wanted them to spend the day with me on my bday, but its ok...I told mom I would be there to get them at 3 or 4...Then we will all go to dinner, so no cooking for me on Saturday!! :cool1:

Don't hold your breath waiting for the replacement CD. Ours from the Sept cruise came broken, I called before we left for the Member Cruise and they said they would send one out - it still hasn't gotten here.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! We spent the day (well and holiday) with my parents and sister/brother in law in Iowa and it was wonderful. Mom made my favorite cake - Red Cake - and we enjoyed the time together!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DAVID!

Since I had no idea what it was, I had to go look it up. Sounds yummy. :)

Here's a link for everyone else to read.

Red Velvet Cake

Oh good idea Mark - I forget that it's not a staple in some homes like it is in mine. Here is mom's receipe. We had it served as our wedding cake as well and while it was good, it was not as good as mom's ;) . I think it's because Disney (and well almost every other baker) refridgerates the cakes and that makes it dry - mom never refridgerates and her frosting is amazing!!!

1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
2 oz red food coloring
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cocoa
1 tsp salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/4 cup cake flour
1 tsp soda (baking)
1 tsp vinegar

  • cream shortening,
  • add sugar and eggs
  • make paste of coloring & cocoa and add to egg mixture,
  • add buttermilk with salt alternating with flour
  • add vanilla
  • add vinegar to soda and add to mixture
  • Beat
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in 2 eight inch pans
  • Cut layers to make 4
Frosting
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 T flour
  • cook until thick
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
  • put in bowl and cream
when above is cool add and mix until looks like cold oatmeal

Well, this turned out to be an interesting weekend.

Saturday night, Judy had invited my mom over for dinner. Her excuse (not that one was needed) was because she was leaving for Florida on Wednesday. When I saw her on Thursday, she had asked me to pick her up, because she wasn't comfortable driving to our house in the dark anymore. I said no problem, either I or one of the kids would pick her up. Comes Saturday, Seth is at a frisbee tournament and both girls conveniently had places to go, so it was up to me to pick her up. Judy is putting a ziti in the oven and tells me to go get her so I'll be back in time before the ziti burns. I get to my mom's house and honk the horn. When she doesn't come out, I call her from my cell and she tells me to come in cause she has something to show me. Now I'm getting suspicious.

Back track two years. When I turned 50, it was right after my dad died. Judy told me she had intended to throw me a surprise 50th, but since when in a year of mourning, Jews cannot go to parties, she promised she would do it for my 51st. Well, then her dad died, so the 51st was out. Ever since my birthday earlier this month, I started being highly aware of any social plans as a set up for the surprise.

So back to Saturday. As I got out of the car, I looked up the street to see if I saw any cars I'd recognize. No cars on the street at all. I walked into the house expecting people to jump out and yell "Surprise!", but the house was quiet. My mother shows me a picture of my father's grandparents taken in Turkey circa 1925 that I had never seen before. She knows that I'm very into the family history. She's also talking to her sister in Virginia and puts me on the phone while she finishes getting ready. I'm rushing her, because Judy had pushed me to get back quickly AND we had bought tickets for Casino Royale for later.

So we finally leave and drive back to the house. As I turn into the driveway, I see some people walking up my block in the dark. Now I live in a dead end and NOBODY walks on my street during the day, much less at night, unless they're selling something. So I say something to my mother and she suggests that it's my neighbors, which I know is ridiculous. I pull into the driveway and see a man walking up the driveway. I ask him where he's going and he says into the house. I say "excuse me?" and start walking to cut him off. All of a sudden, I realize it's my BIL's voice and I know the jig is up. I woke into the house and say "Chris blew it" as everyone yell's surprise :cool1: So, Judy finally pulls it off and it almost worked, because letting me buy the tickets for the movie turned out to be a perfect ploy. Btw, as I was ordering through Fandango, she was upstairs in the bathroom calling the theater to make arrangements to allow us to use the tickets another night. It was a sweet surprise and a great night. I'll let Judy tell her side of the story about the stress she went to trying to get everything set up.

Yesterday, we had to go to an unveiling for my other BIL's father grave stone and then we took Elana to the airport for her trip back to DC, What blew my mind was how empty the terminal was and even traffic was not bad for the end of the Thanksgiving Day weekend. Then we went to the mall to return some things that needed returning and get dinner and finally see the movie I had wanted to see the night before :lmao:

Way to go, Judy!!! :cheer2: :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: I'm glad you were able to pull it off.

Sandy, great that you enjoyed the party. party: party:

We loved Discovery Cove, Although the dolphin interaction was only 30 min, it was still very enjoyable. The only problems we had were the temperature, and the DVD we purchased of our interaction was blank. We booked this in July not knowing what the weather was going to be like, and of course I had it booked for the coldest day of the week...a mere 60 degrees, but the tanks were heated, and we just went and had a blast. The DVD was replaced with no problems, all together the customer service was impeccable, and the experience was a once in a lifetime event. I am glad the girls were old enough to enjoy it and remember it!

That's two votes in favor as I heard the same thing from a friend.

Looks like it's going to be on our list of things to do. I'm glad you had fun, Tina.

Yikes, cyber sickness as Cameron's home today with just about the same thing. My Mom feeling was to take him into the doctor over the long weekend, but then I let my 12 year old convince me that it was just a cold. Until today when he got up, took motrin, showered and got ready for school and then all the gunk in his stomach starting coming out.

So, tonight we're off to the doctor. Cameron needs to be ready for this weekend, I hear it's going to be a fun one. :teeth:

I hope Nick's feeling better really soon. pixiedust:

It's because Emily keeps asking when Deanna is coming to visit, so I keep reassuring her that she'll see Deanna soon.

What a GREAT surprise, Sandy!!! And, I give your wife serious credit because keeping the surprise is SO hard. I did it for Chris's 30th birthday and it was a job to keep it secret. And, for us, the night of the party, I sent Chris to a baseball game with my brother. Well, the game went into extra innings and my brother was desperately trying to get Chris to leave early to get to the party, but Chris couldn't figure out why my brother (the sports nut) wanted to leave an extra innings game early. So, they were about an hour late to the party, but it was fun anyway, and Chris was completely surprised.

Luckily, no chance for a surprise party next year for Chris's 40th birthday, since we'll be on the Magic!!!
