Walker & I are off to Brookfield Zoo this morning. Walker's Cub Scout Pack purchases one of the Christmas trees there and then the pack makes ornaments to decorate them with. Today's our big day to go and do that.

Gary & Cameron were off camping last night with Boy Scouts. I woke up this morning to the ground being wet and it looks like either a light dusting of snow or ice. For a fleeing thought yesterday I thought maybe I'd join Cameron on the campout instead of Gary. But, they were fishing and that is definately more Gary's cup of tea than mine. It looks like I made the right decision --- I was cold enough last month but with wetness, I'm sure I'd be even colder.

I am going next month, though, when they camp in a cave. Bats and all. I'm hoping the other Mom who went last month goes as well. The Scoutmaster was saying that the worse part is the noise as it echos in the cave. But, then he talked about the cafeteria and game room and sitting up above looking down out of the windows. It sounds like it will be one of the better campouts -- provided I survive the bats.

I think I have Walker convinced to go out on Thanksgiving instead of cooking at home. :cheer2: Our little Emeril enjoys cooking --- some times we wonder if we brought the right child home from the hospital -- he likes to clean too? :confused3

Who all is cooking for Thanksgiving? We don't see family so it's just the 4 of us on Thanksgiving. In the past, we've headed to the Zoo before going out wherever we end up going. I'm hoping to do the same this year.

We're having Thanksgiving at home and it's just the three of us too. Shawn called home last week and asked if we would mind if he didn't come home for Thanksgiving. I told him it was up to him but after a few hours he called Tom and said to tell me he wasn't passing up a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner! If he had decided not to come home then I think we would've gone out for dinner. It would've been a lot of work for just the two of us!

Last year, we went to a friend's house for dessert but I think we are just going to spend a quiet day at home this year. I don't have to work the day after Thanksgiving this year either so it's going to be nice to enjoy an extended weekend too.

Cindy - I was just going to say the same thing about mailing them out together. I really hope you can do it Ilene but also understand. I'd still be willing to create some pages for your book if you'd like.

Another thought is if everyone is using the same size pages perhaps you could just purchase additional pages and do yours separately to be added to each journal. We could meet at the South Shore Plaza and all you'd have to do is give me your pages. Again, since I've never done this before I don't know if this is do-able or not.

Now, that sounds doable for me but then I wouldn't see the book to know the themeing....hmmmm...still sounds like it could be worked out. somehow. I'm just doing the math and if there are 25 books @$5 to ship and $125 is a bit stiff for a memory book, especially right now when the mortgage is more of a concern and I'm thinking of selling some points :-(

Have a fun trip to Universal and Discovery Cove Tina and Tim! What a nice way to spend Thanksgiving!

No cooking here for Thanksgiving either. We're going to my sisters. I have to bring the pumpkin pies, but I'm getting them from Costco - no sense in making pies when Costco pies taste good!

Wish I could get away with buying pies. I guess I've spoiled both Tom and Shawn. Shawn already told Tom he is expecting custard pie and apple pie when he gets home! Has anyone made sweet potato pie before? Tom asked me if I've ever had it before but I haven't. I'd love to surprise him with one!

I"m going to post this on the contest thread but thought I'd share with those of you with young children, grand children or execting children. Good Luck!

No cooking of Turkey here on Thanksgiving either. We are going to my parents house for dinner. I just need to bring Antipasta.

We are going to have our own mini-Thanksgiving next weekend. I picked up a small Turducken which we will have with stuffing and potatoes and some sort of dessert.
The Christmas tree will probably go up too. We usually put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

We're having Thanksgiving here for 8 of us. Us, my mom, my MIL, my BIL and his partner, so 8 isn't too bad. And, I only have to make the turkey, stuffing and potatoes, everyone else is bringing the rest. I went shopping yesterday for all the fixins, so I'm ready to go.

And, Emily is going to a friend's house after school tomorrow, then she's going to her grandma's house after school on Tuesday and she'll come back when they come over for Thanksgiving, so it'll only be 3 of us most of the week around here.

I have SO much cleaning and straightening to do around here. Chris is doing yard work right now, then we are going to start with our outside Christmas lights today. We realized that if we don't get them up this weekend, then we won't really have time until the weekend before Christmas, which is our anniversary weekend. With our trip to Chicago and then Chris playing Santa at 2 different Sears portrait locations on 2 other weekends, we're almost completely booked up. So, we'll put the lights up tonight, and then turn them on Thanksgiving weekend. I'm hoping to get the tree up before Thanksgiving, so that we can all decorate it on Thanksgiving day.

Whew, I'm tired just typing all of that out!!!

My son's fiancee's grandmother makes a sweet pot pie to die for. I'm sure there must be some good recipes on the food network online. I love sweet potatoes in any form.

No turkey here either, first year in maybe the whole time I've been married. Thanksgiving is "my" holiday usually and I have about 13 ppl. But my SIL wanted to do it so YAY I don't have to cook! I have to bring something, not sure what yet, I'd love to bring a pie from Costco :thumbsup2

Nothing on Bzzagent for me yet :confused3

DD comes home on Tues from Daytona Beach..YAY! Her plane has been grounded due to engine failure so she hasn't flown alot this week, but she made me crazy by sending me a picture of her flying when she had to stall out one of the two engines...for fun . Wanna see the picture with the prop not moving....

Oh lord, if that was one of my kids, Judy would NOT be discussing it so calmly :rotfl:

Amy your PM box is full. Here is what I was PMing you. Send me a PM with the information, please.

Amy,

We have our photo CD ready to mail. Where do we send it? I assume Chris wants a blank CD included with our CD we are sending. Do you want us to include a self addressed mailer and shipping money? Just give me all the particulars and I will mail everything on Tuesday. You will probably receive it after Thansgiving though.

Sandy,
I'm not terribly calm about it. Usually I am pretty good about it as she has been flying since 16 and has her license since 17..BUT this time the plane she flys has me concerned. It's a Dutchess and I guess there were only 150 of them made...they didn't have a good reputation mechanically. Just two weeks ago one went down at an airport in Deland..engine failure on take off.
Sheesh...what's a mother to do when it's their childs dream to fly :confused3 I've always told my kids you can be whatever you want to, you can have your dreams come true if you work hard at it and are willing to make the required sacrifices. You can see her face...she just loves to fly!

Oh my goodness! I looked at the picture before I read your post and I said, "The prop isn't moving!" Tom asked me what I was talking about and I showed him the picture. Then I read your post. That would make me very nervous but I agree with you that our children should follow their dreams - no matter how it may make us feel.

I'm anxious to see what Michaels has this year. Last year I was at the store at 6:15!

I have a lot to catch up on my chatty friends, but just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the good thoughts with the craft fair. It went well and I definitely learned a few things for the future!
