Good morning everyone! Sorry I couldn't stay in chat very long, just really tired. Had a great day yesterday in Woodridge with family. Kind of a mini Thanksgiving. Work looks to be busy this week to get a full week in only 3 days. The good news is I have Friday off so I can clean the house and we can decorate this weekend.

Steve - here's hoping for a slow day for you!

Morning all. :surfweb:

No chat for me last night as Cameron's troop leader stopped over to point out the requirements Cameron needs to complete in order to move up in rank. Good news for him, he's almost there. But, while that was going on, I was trying to occupy Walker so that he didn't think the troop leader was here to see him. ;)

Walker & I spent a beautiful day at the zoo yesterday. A lot of people were there and I'm thinking of heading back on Wednesday. We are suppose to have a mild & sunny :sunny: Thanksgiving around here even if there is frost on the pumpkins this morning.

I hope everyone has a great day. Only 2 days for the kids this week and 3 for Mom & Dad. :cheer2: My kids get Wednesday off since Veteran's Day fell on a weekend. I hope they do the same next year, as Mom has some ideas in her head for trip that week. ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

Safe traveling to those traveling this week! pixiedust:

Good morning all!!! Yep, short week around here too. Chris has to work until Wednesday, but he gets out early that day. Emily has school just today and tomorrow, but I'm going to take her out after lunch tomorrow to bring her to her grandma's house until Thanksgiving.

We tried to start decorating the house with the outside lights, but realized that when we painted the house this spring, we took down all of our light hooks that were under the eaves. So, Chris has to go buy some more and put them back up before we can start. My plan this week is to do some major cleaning and decluttering around here and to get the Christmas tree up by Thanksgiving, so everyone can help decorate. We'll see if I can get it done. :confused3

That's my big plan today...I have to leave in a half hour to drop Emma at school, go to the gym, go pick her up, grab lunch, then go to one of her friends house for a playdate. We should be home by 3. Did I mention I'm leaving in a half hour? It's like working full time. So once I get home I have to bake cookies for the preschool thanksgiving feast tomorrow. Of course, my daughter saw these in the newspaper insert so I can't just quickly make cookies and go on to the next thing to do.

My hope is that I get all the housework done and when Bruce gets home I can convince him to haul out the holly from the attic so I can start tonight and finish tomorrow after my crazy running around stops.

mORNING (ug - Caps Lock)

Morning DisSers:surfweb: ,

Ah the joys for working for a small agency, you most always know where your gonna be working on a given day.

Glad that every ones work schedule is short. Most people deserve it. Me I'm working today & tomorrow have Wed & Thur off but then I have to work FRI-SAT & Sun (black Friday on the desk, whew!!)

Amy - Let us know when the PM box is cleared out a bit I have a PM to shoot your way...

Cindy - Your killing me with all the talk about Brookfield (my FAV zoo) next you'll rediscover the Museum of Science and Industry and drive the stake all the way home. The MSI is the BEST, even beats the Smith in DC, IMHO. I love what they did with the U-505, ingenious!!

Diana & Stacy - Thanks for the scrapper advise yesterday (gift ideas)!! :thumbsup2

Erin - I hope the dog stopped crying (I still think it was because Michigan lost).

Well I think that covers all the bases (no pun intended - that is by better half's obsession).

Have a great Monday all.

For the past 4 or so years the kids around here have been getting the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off. The teachers had it written into their contract so it should be that way for some time now. Last week they had Thursday off for conferences, the week before that they had off on Tuesday because of voting. Deanna wanted to know why they just couldn't have saved those two days and added them to this week. ;)

Those cookies are so cute. Maybe I'll get ambitious and make them for Thanksgiving to take to my sisters house. What are they using for the eyes - green mini m&m's with black frosting?

John got 1/4 of the outside house lights done yesterday, I set up the tree in the family room (still needs to be decorated), Diane and Deanna put their trees up in their bedrooms. Last year John bought me this Tinkerbelle tree so I set that up in my craft room. I still have the tree to put up in the dining room and our bedroom and then all the decorations. I should finish by Sunday.

I saw those cookies!!! I thought about making them, but I'm not sure that I have the patience. Maybe I'll tackle them if I have time tomorrow or Wednesday.

My PM box is cleaned out again. I was doing that during chat last night.

Also, Brookfield is our fav zoo too. I'm hoping to take the girls next summer. We also love MSI in Chicago too.

Our public schools have the entire week off, but that will change next year. Up until next year, the public schools here started around the beginning of August, and they got out in late May. But, people were complaining and next year they will start later, and they will go to school this week too (not sure if it'll be 2 or 3 days of school).

Here are a few "local" ideas Julie
  • Chips & Salsa
  • Pralines
  • Chili (mix)
  • Jalapeno Jelly
  • Armadillo
You can google "Texas Gift Basket" to see other ideas or even to order something. There's also a Texas store in the Galleria, probably one in just about every mall around, where you can find ideas.

Another suggestion...My sister sent me an "Edible Arrangement" for my birthday. Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious too.

Thanks Robin - that helps!

Well, at least the Buckeyes won. There is some good in KT's life tonight. :)
I thought about you on Saturday. I was at another Big 10 game...Purdue/ IU. My son-in-law is a Purdue grad and got tickets for us. When we came home, we watched Ohio State on TV. Glad that both of our teams won last weekend.:)

Too bad for the Colts though...

While I get more excited about DA BEARS I do have to whoop it up a bit on the COWBOYS win yesterday - how did that happen? We were shocked (and watching nascar instead lol).

Diana Great job on your craft show items!:cheer2:

Well all of the Holiday stuff is up inside and out! The presents are bought and wrapped. Now just baking left to do. Bring on the Holidays I'm ready to party!:cool1:

Chris I am impressed! Our holiday decorations are almost all done as we're traveling to Iowa this weekend for Thanksgiving and a party for us in my home town. We're driving with the dog CHIP and wow is that a party staying over night in a hotel with him
wink.gif
! We have to put the ornaments on the tree but we'll do that when we get back :cool1:

We hope to have our professional photos later this week via the web and I wanted to share a sneak peek that our photographer did for us - this one is my favorite so far

Very cool, Julie. It must have been awesome to watch them set up for your wedding!

Your kidding, right? There is NO way I will ever be this ready for Christmas in November, let alone before Thanksgiving. Everything is wrapped too??? :sad2:

Busy, busy weekend around here. I think I kept up with the reading though. We had TWO black-tie weddings on Saturday night. We went to both ceremonies and stayed for the 2nd's reception. The only problem - no food until 10pm. Yesterday was spent on domestic stuff. And today was Ian's class Thanksgiving Feast. I didn't have the time or patience to cook turkey for them so I bought some pre-cooked turkey breasts and cubed it this morning. Honestly, I think it was better than if I'd attempted to cook it myself. Tomorrow Ian and I are driving down to S.A. for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately David can't join us - the joys of working retail at the official start of holiday season. We'll come home on Saturday, though, so we can spend David's birthday with him on Sunday.

Amy, I've got all the pics sorted out and will be making the DVD tonight to send off to you. Sorry for the delay - those extra couple weeks in a hotel really wreaked havoc on my schedule of things to do.

Julie I just love all the pics posted from your wedding.
