John got 1/4 of the outside house lights done yesterday, I set up the tree in the family room (still needs to be decorated), Diane and Deanna put their trees up in their bedrooms. Last year John bought me this Tinkerbelle tree so I set that up in my craft room. I still have the tree to put up in the dining room and our bedroom and then all the decorations. I should finish by Sunday.

Yowza Gail!!
It almost sounds like you have a tree in every room!. I don't have the patience for that.

It's a rare 8:00 game. They usually start at 7:30 so this is unusual and I'm not sure why. If he can make it I'll bring the CD to the game with me.
Chris says "sure, why not?!?!?". So, I guess you guys can meet up.

I might as well admit this to all of you too!

I went to the Pillsbury site and printed off the directions for the Turkey cookies. When John got home I showed him the picture and told him I was going to make them for Thanksgiving. The big goof fell down on the floor and acted like he was gasping for a breath. :faint: He then got up very slowly and said "Oh the surprise announcement of you making cookies was too much for my heart to handle."

Then Deanna comes home from school and I show the picture to her. She actually asked me if I was really making them or getting them from Costco :confused3

Seriously, I can bake - I just don't usually like to. Just to prove them wrong I will make them Thursday morning and take a picture of them to prove to them in the years to come that I can bake :rotfl:

Psst---Hey Gail---wanna know a little secret? In the dairy case they sell little sugar cookie pucks that you just slap on the sheet and toss them in the oven. 13 minutes later--Voila--turkey cookies ready for the decorating. Not that I'd know anything about pre-made cookies. ;) :rolleyes1

Mine are done--I'll post pics in a bit. Bruce is up in the attic and needs help hauling out the holly.

No tree in the kitchen, John's office or the bathrooms but all the other rooms have one. I only have 1 of the pre-lit trees - I just love that thing, but I can't justify getting rid of the others and replacing them........yet!

They come in sugar cookie!!

I would make them from scratch before I'd do the slice n bake ones. I can't cut them so they are even, even though there are notches in the dough. :confused3

As for the tree count--we used to have two, plus a ceramic one in each bathroom. But after Emma was born and started to walk, we downsized to one because the holiday season brings a new full time job for me--redecorating the tree every night because they take down the ornaments and play with them or rehang them on the tree so they are all bunched up and that drives me batty! We've also been hanging only about 1/3 of the ornaments I have because, well, we'd like to still have them by the end of the holiday.

Ok I am cracking up... its the great cookie debate. I would love to have a recipe for sugar cookies that stay in their shape and soft like those made by Cookies by Design. :cool1:

But do agree your way is much faster and less clean up!

Oh, These are SO convenient. They never get baked around here though. If you looked in my fridge RIGHT now....you'd find a pack of the mini chocolate chip ones....the pack says it makes 40....but there are only about 4 left.

But now that you mention it.....

Ok, now only 2 left!! :lmao:

OR you can buy pepperidge farm soft baked sugar cookies, they are nice a big too and just decorate, LOL. I thought about it but realized DD needed something to occupy her time anyway :rolleyes1

I'm impressed too Chris! I'm always the first person I know with the tree up and everything decorated, but this year I just couldn't seem to get out of my funk to do it---until Emma got home from preschool today and asked me why Dominic and Autumn and Samuel all said they have Christmas ornaments on a tree and why doesn't she. BAD MOMMY!!!! OK Em, tree and everything else will be up before I go to bed tonight. How many hours are in a day and what can we do about adding a couple? :confused3

We did this last year, and I believe it was the beginning of this thread too--can we all post pics of our trees and decorations? That was fun! (Of course this suggestion is coming from someone who has some Halloween stuff still out.)

Gotta go bake some turkey cookies!! Oh Gail, those are mini m+ms for eyes on the birds, with gel icing for the dots. Of course Walmart only had primary colored gel so my birds are going to have red dots on their eyes and yellow feet.
I'll have to have Mike post the pictures of the tree. I seem to always mess the site up.:rotfl:
(and no you are not a Bad Mommy!)I'm one of 2 people that has Christmas up in the hood.;) Aaron's friends wanted to know why we were not having Thanksgiving this year!:rotfl2:
The turkey cookies are really cute! I might have to give them a try at Mom's. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Wow Chris, I'm impressed. I'm still working on cleaning around here, then I'll start the decorating. I'm almost done with shopping, but I haven't even started to wrap everything (but I do have all the paper & tags). I'm definitely in awe of your readiness for the holidays!!!
Thanks Amy. It helps having older kids. They like big ticket items . Insdead of alot of items.;)
Have a Happy Thanksgiving incase I don't get to post tommorow. Mom's internet is really slow.

If I was working I would be over there w/the lights and siren broadcasting to the neighborhood --- GAIL's baking!!! The world is coming to an end. I'd even let John run the siren. This good for you?? Ask John too...

You mean you can actually BAKEthese puppies???!!!??? They don't last long enough to make it to the oven (sorry to say)

(my)Karens' talking to Chis on the phone and shooed me away, I'mn so unloved, so I ran away to the DisBoards....:rotfl2: and the cookie debate.Pass the cookie dough Karen

Yes we bake them. :guilty: Before kids, cake batter and cookie dough never made it to the oven. But now with that big giant warning on the package saying you'll get sick and die if you eat this raw makes me try to set a good example for the youngins. :confused3 Of course I saved some batter from the last batch of cupcakes in the sink and waited til they went into the basement to play before I was slurping that stuff down. :lmao:

Great minds think alike.

a couple of years ago my mom told me in a mom kinda way "you shouldn't eat raw cookie dough, it could make you sick." my response was "i've been eating raw cookie dough for 35 yrs and it hasn't made me sick....i'll take my chances."

(well, it HAS made me sick, but only from overeating, not from salmonella!)
