Y.... But now with that big giant warning on the package saying you'll get sick and die if you eat this raw makes me try to set a good example for the youngins.
On that note.. here is a funny email I got today.. I am sure some of you have seen it...

TO ALL THE K IDS

WHO SURVIVED the
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because .

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING
!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back
when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.And we were O. K .

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games
at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,no cell phones, no personal computers!, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no la
wsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them . . .
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives
for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

I've been waiting for the girls to settle down and go to bed before I posted my BIG thing of the day. At 4:58 my phone rang, the caller ID read "Disney Vacation Club". Hmmm...:scratchin Here's the conversation:

Me:Hello?
DVC: Hi. This is so-and-so from DVC. Do you remember me? I sold you your contract. (Uh, no...actually you didn't. I was assigned to you after my person got a big promotion. I didn't say that, but I thought about it.)
Me:Hi, sure, what's up?
DVC: Well, I noticed that you're just getting off the Member Cruise and wanted to give you a call to make sure everything was ok.
Me: Did you hear everything was not ok?
DVC: No.
Me: OK, it was ok.
DVC:Just OK? (OK--you're asking for comments, I'll give you comments.)

I went on to tell her exactly what my impression was but you guys all know the impression. She was surprised. She hadn't heard any comments about the "hard sell". I then went on to tell her how disappointed we were in the 07 booking procedures and how it was seen as real slap in the face to people who cruised before, and her words were --"I'm not entirely sure why they came up with that idea, but I see it being a problem" I told her the lottery was a fair idea, but excluding previous cruisers has really left a negative impression on us and a few fellow members that cruised with us who decided we'd rather cruise without DVC together next time because in comparision for us this cruise had less magic than the others. It was my family and friends that highlighted the cruise for me.

15 minutes later--she was saying, well you have a Happy Thanksgiving, rushing me off the phone. :lmao: I'm assuming she made the call at 4:58 figuring this would be quick and easy, tell me all about how I need more points and there's a special going on and she'd get out the door by 5. :lmao:

Way to go Diana! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Will it do any good? Probably not, though she probably felt she'd been kick-boxed in the gut when she got off the phone with you.:rotfl:

I might as well admit this to all of you too!

I went to the Pillsbury site and printed off the directions for the Turkey cookies. When John got home I showed him the picture and told him I was going to make them for Thanksgiving. The big goof fell down on the floor and acted like he was gasping for a breath. :faint: He then got up very slowly and said "Oh the surprise announcement of you making cookies was too much for my heart to handle."

Then Deanna comes home from school and I show the picture to her. She actually asked me if I was really making them or getting them from Costco :confused3

Seriously, I can bake - I just don't usually like to. Just to prove them wrong I will make them Thursday morning and take a picture of them to prove to them in the years to come that I can bake :rotfl:

From what John says good thing you will take a pic cause that might be the only time he sees home baked cookies :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Who all is cooking for Thanksgiving? We don't see family so it's just the 4 of us on Thanksgiving. In the past, we've headed to the Zoo before going out wherever we end up going. I'm hoping to do the same this year.

We will be at my MIL's house (she lives 10 minutes away), but we are all contributing something. I donated my free turkey (had to spend $300) and I am also making the salad and a side dish. Kids will all be home. With all the stuff they bring home, even for a short visit, I am still trying to find a place for all the Disney gifts!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! :sunny:

Attention ebayers---tomorrow is 20 cent listing day!! :cool1:

Cause I don't have enough on my list of things to do, I figure I'll get back into the swing of selling.

Actually, today I was trying to figure out how to even use just one. I'm not sure how to use it with those magnetic pages in the back.

Tom said the same thing! He hopes our guide calls too. I work with 7 different people who are DVC owners. I am the only one who has been on a DVC Member cruise but everyone who I've talked to about the new policy thinks it's ridiculous. One of them tried to get on the cruise last year but couldn't get through. Afer hearing my story about the hard sell she is very happy she didn't go. She said she wants to continue with her belief that DVC is magical and isn't like other timeshare companies.

Ok, since I've completely forgotten who I've said that we've gotten CDs from, here's the whole list.

Well I think that covers all the bases (no pun intended - that is by better half's obsession).

Coincidentally, I got a catalog in the mail today - MLB.com! (That's Major League Baseball, for you non-sports fans... :) ) All baseball gifts. I'm a marked woman! :rotfl:

:worship: You are my idol! I haven't even made a list of what I have to buy. The only list I made was to buy the pies and get the stuff for the Thanksgiving cookies :rotfl:

Thank you, Gail. I feel a bit better now. I usually finish my wrapping right before we leave for my sister's on Christmas day... :rolleyes1

In reality, I don't really get into Christmas. It's just more "stuff" that I have to do. I rather envy those of you who enjoy it so much. I used to like Christmas, but it appears that my fondness for the holiday is a thing of the past. Curt LOVES Christmas! I may have to send him to live with some of you for the season, so that I don't ruin it for him!

Michelle is going to try to make those Turkey cookies, I have to go buy the stuff tonight! She's vegetarian so this is NOT her favorite holiday..on top of that she doesn't like pies either so the cookies will give her something to eat that is special.

I've been a vegetarian for 22 years, so I can relate. My family is understanding, if not supportive, so I don't have to put up with stupid comments. I just enjoy the day with those that I love.

I really hate "Happy Turkey Day", though! :furious:

Great minds think alike.

a couple of years ago my mom told me in a mom kinda way "you shouldn't eat raw cookie dough, it could make you sick." my response was "i've been eating raw cookie dough for 35 yrs and it hasn't made me sick....i'll take my chances."

(well, it HAS made me sick, but only from overeating, not from salmonella!)

Exactly what I was thinking. ::yes::

And I even have a Stupid Pancreas! :teeth:
