She entered our granddaughter in a contest at Target (Ithink it was there) and she WON a Disney prize package. Disney Mp3 player, some cd's, a book and a carrying case for it all. She was very excited!

I am went in for my yearly exam two weeks ago and got "squished." All you ladies, and probably most of the guys, know what I mean. Yesterday I got a call to come back in on Thursday for a follow up ultrasound. Apparently, all is not as it should be. I do have a family history of breast cancer (mom and sis) so this is a scary time for me. Your thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.![]()
cgcw said:We have all of the Magic Tree House books as they were once Cameron's favorites as well.
Books in the lab or club? I don't know. I do know they have playstation or computer games that mezmerized Cameron & Nick. The boys were glued to those screens.![]()
Stacy, have you given any thoughts to Nick's boundaries this cruise?
For others who have kids in the 10-12 age group, have you decided to give them checkout priviledges in the lab? Last year, Cameron had the capability of checking himself out but had to go to the cabin if he did. The lab would beep us with a message saying that Cameron had left the lab and headed to the room. One or the other of us would then meet Cameron back in the cabin and decide from there what the next move was going to be.

Isn't it amazing how they can make such a tremendous turn around!!
I did email Walker's teachers last night saying thanks. I know that teachers don't always hear the positives, as a lot of parents only say something when they have a problem. I was a little skeptical going into this school year as it was a new school for Walker and he's in a class where two teachers job-share. One is there Monday, Tuesday, then the other is Wednesday, Thursday Friday. A lot of weeks they rotate at to who is on which schedule. So, I worried that it would be confusing and hard for the kids. Apparently, it's no big deal for Walker.
IleneF said:Nothing here either :-( But I was tricked. As I pulled the car in this afternoon I saw a fed ex package in my door..alas it was for my son which
is actually good news as it may be an offer from a firm he's waiting to hear from...praying it is.

Guess I'm going back to bed - not feeling too great today - I think the baby shared his cold with me.
I'll try and do some more reading later - eyes don't want to work today and after telling everyone in the family to sleep it off, I think that I will take my own advice for a change. Everyone around me has been sick and they finally got me.
I'll try and catch up later.
alikat99 said:Yep, we did that last year and they turned out GREAT!! We ordered them on Wednesday night and they had them ready for us on Thursday morning before we debarked!!!
I'm hoping to bring my Mickey Ear Santa hats to CC and get a good picture of the girls on the beach for our Christmas cards this year.
Stitch#1 said:Teachers that job share!?
Ok that just seems odd to me. You would think it would confuse the kids. I mean they only work like 9 or 10 months out of the year so I don't get it.
No offence to any teachers out there.
Stitch#1 said:Note to self - Ask Amy to borrow her Mickey ears to get an awesome picture for this years Christmas cards!!!

We got our DVC gift today (we are in New York)!!!! We also got our ssmember Tees from Cafe Press...They are just perfect! My Alex wanted to wear his to school today but I managed to get past that by telling him he can't wear it out until Mickey has had a chance to see it on the ship. Yeah!No Docs yet, but I know they must be around the corner.![]()
Cindy, the same sort of thing happened with my girls. They loved being read to, but didn't want to read themselves. Reading wasn't a struggle for them, they just didn't like to do it! It wasn't until they got to Jr. High that they began to develop a love for reading!! I'm glad Walker is ahead of the game in that respect!cgcw said:Excuse me while I brag a moment!
Walker has strugged with reading and phonics for as long as I can remember. We've been working with a tutor to try and get him up to speed but not with much luck. Walker will work math problems until there is no end, but usually all I have to do is mention the word reading to him, and he gets antsy and finds 1000 excuses to to why we should do something else.
We've read to our kids since they were babies and both of them would sit all night long listening to us read to them. But, with Walker, it's been like pulling teeth to get him to read.
So, tonight he brings home a form for required reading for the month of October. He needs to read 10 books minimum, 20 books for extra credit. So, here I am, thinking, we'll struggle through 1 book and call it a night.
Three books later, Walker is torn between continuing to read or going with Cameron to Boy Scouts so he can sit with Gary in the hallway and read his Tiger Cub book. I can't believe my eyes or my ears....Walker read all three with very little help from me. These were new books that he hasn't tried to read before and more importantly, books we haven't read to him. I don't know what his teachers have done with him at school, but this turn around today is amazing!
