So my wife is looking out the window and sees the UPS truck pull up. We get all excited. I step out onto the stoop and as he walks up the driveway, I ask if it says Disney on it. He says, no, it says Amazon. :sad2: It's the Little Mermaid DVD I had ordered. Okay, so it's not a total loss :p

Hi everyone. I'm still trying to catch up (I'm on page 1271) but wanted to post this now in case I don't get caught up by Thursday. I am went in for my yearly exam two weeks ago and got "squished." All you ladies, and probably most of the guys, know what I mean. Yesterday I got a call to come back in on Thursday for a follow up ultrasound. Apparently, all is not as it should be. I do have a family history of breast cancer (mom and sis) so this is a scary time for me. Your thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. :sad1:

Oh Mary, I'm so sorry.

Did they say specifically that something didn't look right or they just want to take a better look? I've had that happen in the past, and it's very scary in the waiting process. I hope everything turns out okay.

We have all of the Magic Tree House books as they were once Cameron's favorites as well.

Books in the lab or club? I don't know. I do know they have playstation or computer games that mezmerized Cameron & Nick. The boys were glued to those screens. :)

Stacy, have you given any thoughts to Nick's boundaries this cruise?

For others who have kids in the 10-12 age group, have you decided to give them checkout priviledges in the lab? Last year, Cameron had the capability of checking himself out but had to go to the cabin if he did. The lab would beep us with a message saying that Cameron had left the lab and headed to the room. One or the other of us would then meet Cameron back in the cabin and decide from there what the next move was going to be.

He did very well on the last cruise so it will be the same this time around. We will let him check himself out. Heck one night he got tired and when we got to the cabin he was already dozing off.

Wait a minute. You are giving up CHAT for the TIGERS? Well I never! :lmao:

Too bad we aren't still at your table too. Ken owns his own business and would happily join in!

Once we get on board, you are always welcome to ask the head waiter if your tables could be combined. Sadly, the just wouldn't let me request it ahead of time but there might be a chance that they will accommodate if asked in person.

Excellent for her!! :cheer2: :cheer2::cheer2: Isn't it amazing how they can make such a tremendous turn around!!

I did email Walker's teachers last night saying thanks. I know that teachers don't always hear the positives, as a lot of parents only say something when they have a problem. I was a little skeptical going into this school year as it was a new school for Walker and he's in a class where two teachers job-share. One is there Monday, Tuesday, then the other is Wednesday, Thursday Friday. A lot of weeks they rotate at to who is on which schedule. So, I worried that it would be confusing and hard for the kids. Apparently, it's no big deal for Walker.

Teachers that job share!?
Ok that just seems odd to me. You would think it would confuse the kids. I mean they only work like 9 or 10 months out of the year so I don't get it.
No offence to any teachers out there.

Nothing here either :-( But I was tricked. As I pulled the car in this afternoon I saw a fed ex package in my door..alas it was for my son which
is actually good news as it may be an offer from a firm he's waiting to hear from...praying it is.

Well, if it had to be something else, I hope it was good news for you DS! :goodvibes

Not Cameron -- he would be "see you at midnight". Then we'd order room service and sit out on the verandah chatting. It was fun.

I'm thinking of giving Cameron the option of going to the pools by himself this year. Being they are 3' and 4', I'm pretty confident that he'd be okay. Any thought of allowing Nick to do that also?

Wow - the puzzle guessers are really breaking records lately!

Guess I'm going back to bed - not feeling too great today - I think the baby shared his cold with me.
I'll try and do some more reading later - eyes don't want to work today and after telling everyone in the family to sleep it off, I think that I will take my own advice for a change. Everyone around me has been sick and they finally got me.

I'll try and catch up later.

Hope you feel better soon.
Mom's chicken soup and lots of rest are what the doctor ordered!

Yep, we did that last year and they turned out GREAT!! We ordered them on Wednesday night and they had them ready for us on Thursday morning before we debarked!!!

I'm hoping to bring my Mickey Ear Santa hats to CC and get a good picture of the girls on the beach for our Christmas cards this year.

Note to self - Ask Amy to borrow her Mickey ears to get an awesome picture for this years Christmas cards!!!

I was really bummed that was the class that Walker was placed in, but I can't say I feel that way now that we're a month into the school year. Walker doesn't seem to have any problems with it, although he does prefer one of the teachers over the other. The teachers sent home a chart for the entire year as to which one is going to be in the classroom on which days and on some mornings, Walker will check it. Or, when I suggest he checks it, he already knows which teacher is slated to be there -- I'm thinking they communicate that to the kids.

So far, so good. I know it was odd, but I'm thinking one of the other 1st grade teachers who is teaching by herself would have been a worse class to be in -- at least from the rumors I hear.

How many of us brought the Santa Mickey ears last year and didn't even use them to take a picture?

I'm #1.....who else???

I'm thinking Julie did the same and Diana??

Excuse me while I brag a moment!

Walker has strugged with reading and phonics for as long as I can remember. We've been working with a tutor to try and get him up to speed but not with much luck. Walker will work math problems until there is no end, but usually all I have to do is mention the word reading to him, and he gets antsy and finds 1000 excuses to to why we should do something else.

We've read to our kids since they were babies and both of them would sit all night long listening to us read to them. But, with Walker, it's been like pulling teeth to get him to read.

So, tonight he brings home a form for required reading for the month of October. He needs to read 10 books minimum, 20 books for extra credit. So, here I am, thinking, we'll struggle through 1 book and call it a night.

:cheer2: Three books later, Walker is torn between continuing to read or going with Cameron to Boy Scouts so he can sit with Gary in the hallway and read his Tiger Cub book. I can't believe my eyes or my ears....Walker read all three with very little help from me. These were new books that he hasn't tried to read before and more importantly, books we haven't read to him. I don't know what his teachers have done with him at school, but this turn around today is amazing!
Cindy, the same sort of thing happened with my girls. They loved being read to, but didn't want to read themselves. Reading wasn't a struggle for them, they just didn't like to do it! It wasn't until they got to Jr. High that they began to develop a love for reading!! I'm glad Walker is ahead of the game in that respect!

Did you guys see this on mouseplanet?

A brand new menu debuted at Cookie's BBQ on Castaway Cay last week for those aboard the Disney Cruise Line. They have installed rotisserie chicken machines, wood fired grills (for the hot dogs, hamburgers, and fresh fish sandwiches), and a brick oven that they are using for garlic focaccia. MousePlanet staffers who were among the first to try the menu report that the food is outstanding. This is apparently the first of a series of improvements coming to the food on the island.

That sounds great! I love a good rotisserie chicken...and GARLIC focaccia...YUMMMY!!
