Ooohh, I'm glad that I missed that. I would have been going crazy without my DIS!!!

I was going crazy! I was thinking what will happen if the DIS is down for a day or two? How will we communicate? I was getting nervous and then decided I'd wait til morning to see if everything was back to normal! Luckily, it was.

Hi all. Just back from the 11 night on the Wonder and it was awesome. Now at WDW till Sunday.

The changes in dry dock are going to be awesome. Can't wait to get back on in 3 weeks!

Talked to Ducky the last night of the cruise. He said we are NOT getting a litho on the member cruise. He does have something special that DVC had him too, and he said this is not something for our "wall" to hang. Wouldn't tell me anything else except that he was thrilled with the outcome and loved creating this new "gift" for us!

See everyone soon. Once I get back to work next week, I'll start checking the member thread.
Hi Linda - nice to see you posting, and thanks for the Ducky info!!!

I thought this pic was so cute of Christopher and his dog, Dakota - thought I would share it here -

This happened one time....it was a planned outage. I set up a yahoo group called "DISBoardWithdrawl" for just this situation.

Should we ever need it, it can be found here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DISBoardWithdrawl/

I may not know what to do in case of a terrorist attack on my city, but I know what to do should the DIS go down!!! HA HA HA

Let's do a series of "what ifs" this time.

What if you only had one hour in any Disney park. What hour would you spend and what would you do?
Only one hour, hmmm, I think that I would go to Fantasyland and ride as many rides as I could.

What if you only had one hour on Castaway Cay. How would you spend it?
Grab a drink and watch the world go by.

What if you had the opportunity to go to a Disney park you've never been to before. Which one would you choose?
Disneyland, since it's where it all started.

What if you were given an unlimited fast pass but you could only use it in one park. Which park would you choose?
Magic Kingdom

What if you were given 100 DVC points to any DVC property free of charge (you would have to pay dues). Which property would you pick and why?
BCV - for the pool!!!

You know I'm just gonna delete that post - I forgot all the fun, frequent posters and Amy's not here either. Prob over at Ariel's Grotto w/the girls.
Actually, about that time we were playing around in Fantasyland. No Ariel's grotto this trip, but we did ride Dumbo!!!

Cute!! They look like they are good friends. :)

Ok, I made it to page 1250, but now I need to go grab a shower before church! I'll have to catch up again during nap time.

Curt and Karen - I thought about you two last night - my kids went to that game to hopefully help bring home that one elusive win that the Tigers need - they had hoped it would happen but I thought anyone going to that game last night was  or a die-hard fan! Don't know how you withstood the weather element.
Maybe if the Tigers don't get that first time, they'll go on to do what the other Detroit sports teams didn't do in the past year - seems that first place has become somewhat of a jinx for the teams lately. Think about it - it makes sense.
Instead of rambling anymore, I'll hush now.

Back to cruisin chatter!

This is probably 50-100% rumor, but a thread on the other DCL forum suggested an October 1st announcement about the next DVC resort to open. Along with the date, someone "in the know" paraphrased a member of the construction team who said this new DVC resort is a pirate-themed resort to be built on the former Discovery Island (the island in the middle of the lake behind the Contemporary). Lastly, the resort is supposed to be a luxury resort, with a very small number of rooms.
(Please don't quote me...I had just finished reading 60+ other posts, so I may have reached "brain freeze" stage by the time I saw the above post.)
If the announcement is made, we'll certainly have something to talk about during Sunday night's chat!
pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

Close.... The leak has happened in that there's an architectural firm that had two pictures up on their site of a design contracted by DVC for a resort at the Contemporary. I don't remember where the site was or I'd link it.

Here's a pic.

Karen and Curt we were talking about you two last night. I can't believe you got tickets. We were saying that by the end of the game everyone had to feel like an ice cube. Your boys will pull it out today. GO TIGERS

Christopher and Dakota are just too cute. That is a great picture.

Amy welcome back. I really need to move to Fl. so we can go on quick trips too.

It's a beautiful sunny day here. I think we might go look for pirate stuff later and watch the Tigers win.

Well, we never buy the pre popped tins. Only the microwave popcorn. The kids love it (esp the butter flavor) and it supports the Boy Scouts. I wouldn't buy that $$$ of popcorn off the shelf at Kroger! :)

We love the Boy Scout microwave popcorn in our house. I won't even buy the store stuff anymore. Janet buys from a co-worker's son. He know if he any left over to ask her first before returning at the end of the sale. $$ but worth it IMHO.

They were in the big World of Disney store.
I was there yesterday and they only had the baby and one other, I think that little girl. I was disappointed, but hoping that they will stock up again before our trip in 3 weeks.

So I ran around town today like a chicken with my head cut off! I had to get a cake for Julia. Rule #1--Do NOT take a 3 and 2 year old into a bakery full of cakes and cookies. :sad2: Bad idea. So I spent $11 more dollars than I should have and left with a cake, box of cookies and 2 mouse pastries that were just too cute at $3 a pop. I'll have to take pictures because they are just adorable.

Then I went to the Disney Store--lots of bargains out there folks. 25% off the lowest clearance price. I was able to snag a Mickey denim jacket for me for $22. It has a painted Mickey on the back and Mickey Mouse in red rhinestones on the front. Of course the girls got shirts and socks too. Just way too cute!!
Hmmm, might have to bring mom down there tomorrow morning, before she goes to work to get her extra discount. Plus, she'll love that she can do some more Christmas & birthday shopping.

Welcome back Gail and John! Looks like you have just enough time to unpack, wash everything, pack again and head out the door! :rotfl:
Or, send it home with your DIS friend, and have her bring it back in 3 weeks. Yes, Gail & John brought us their costumes and dress clothes in their garment bag to bring back in 3 weeks. They just had TOO much stuff and not enough room to bring it all home. :thumbsup2

Sorry Gail - I just had to tell that tale!!!

That's too cute! My girls are never dating so they won't have the opportunity to be nervous! :rotfl2:

So for those of you following my Wendy's saga....I just received a telephone call from the lady at the Albany County Health Dept. :thumbsup2 First I'm going to say I'm super impressed that first of all she took the time out to call me, but she also went to the raw chicken Wendys and did a full inspection today and called me with the findings. :scared: First off she starts out by saying the manager is very young and is on the job not even 1 month. She commented that she was going to contact the owner because that's not an acceptable timeframe for someone to be left alone and be responsible and not checked up on. He was completely clueless about fryer temps and monitoring them and logging them. He was also completely clueless about the fact that b/c Wendy's offers 2 chicken sandwiches, they are different chickens pucks and take different times to cook, the Spicy Chicken being thicker and requiring more fry time. :teacher: She went on to tell me a bunch of different things about staff knowledge (the fact they didn't know much of anything) and more food prep concerns. She said she left a huge list of things they need to change in order to meet the required health department rules and will be doing weekly follow up visits to make sure the changes are being made.

I'm really impressed with the Health Dept. I'm still never eating at Wendy's again, but I'm impressed that they took my complaint as seriously as they did, sent someone out exactly a week from my incident and is making them change the way they operate. She explained to me that she relies on people reporting things like this because then she can go into the places she knows are problems and bust them. :rotfl2:

I'm still completely UNimpressed with Wendy's because they have not contacted me about my letter at all. I did not include my telephone number in the letter, just my address and email address yet the Health Dept person got my number and called me when her investigation was complete.
Wow Diana - that's great that they took your report seriously and are forcing Wendy's to fix the problem.
