See, Karen, you at least acknowledged them. A+ for the effort. :thumbsup2

Personally, I'd never pay the price they are asking for the popcorn. I understand it's a fund raiser and all, but really, how can a tin of popcorn be with $15? I'd much rather give the kids a couple of dollars towards a donation.

Well, we never buy the pre popped tins. Only the microwave popcorn. The kids love it (esp the butter flavor) and it supports the Boy Scouts. I wouldn't buy that $$$ of popcorn off the shelf at Kroger! :)

Bad mood doesn't even cover it - I feel like a colossal idiot right now. Since Minnesota lost earlier today, we could have clinched the Central Division with a win tonight. At the last minute, they released some tickets for tonight's game. "Let's go to the game! We can see them clinch!", I said. (Keep in mind that Curt works at 6am on Sunday...) So, I bought tickets, and Curt met me at the stadium. After a 90 minute rain delay, we got our hineys handed to us. Curt left the stadium just after midnight... :sad2:

It was not exactly the jubilant evening that I had envisioned. :(

(I'm sorry, Curt. This was one of my dumbest ideas to date...) :guilty:

Karen - don't look at it that way. Just think if they won? You would've been at a game you'd never forget. Shawn got tickets to the Red Sox game that put them in the position to win it all a few years back. As a poor college student he wasn't sure if he made the right decision but he told me (before the game) win or lose he will always be a Red Sox fan and even if they lost he would get to share that moment with tens of thousands of other fans. In his case, they won but it could've been another losing year for them.

Curt loves you no matter what. He may be a bit more tired today but he still loves you!

PS - I love your tag!

Julia wasn't a problem for me.

Emily, that's a whole other story. That little chip swiper is fast. ;)
Ok, I'm up this morning, and trying to catch up. I don't think that I'll get it done before church this morning, but I'm going to give it a try. :thumbsup2

Anyway, Emily is quick and chips are her favorite. Except, she keep swearing that it wasn't her. We tease her about it every once in a while. Emily, otherwise known as "the chip swiper".

Congrats to Mark on his quick and correct guess - way to go! :cheer2:

Anyone here remember the gecko I saw in my garden (in Michigan, no less)? Well I have spent the past few days out there trying to coax him into a small container so I can bring him inside for the winter - the little boy down the street wants to take him home as a pet. Question is - anyone know how to catch one of those little buggers -he's quick and always just out of arm's reach. He's living in my garden and goes under the overhang of the house so I'm not sure he'll survive our kind of winters up here.

For all you Michigan and Chicago DISers - a meet date and time has been set up -
Well, since Chris catches them all the time in our yard, I can tell you that he comes up behind them and puts his hand over them. Then, he'll slowly lift his hand and hold them behind their head between his fingers. They are pretty quick, and I've never caught one, but I never try. I have a baby one living in my family room that I can't seem to catch to put back outside.

We started with 150 as well. Then my dear MIL "gave" us some more (100) which was really really nice of her BUT I have to come up with the monthly dues :-( It didn't used to be that much of a problem but now that hubby's business is sinking...well....If I must I will rent them out to make back at least the dues portion thereby justifying keeping them at all for the time being. I hope I never have to give up my DVC. Marla we may have to put up with alot of business talk at our dinner table between our two hubbys.
::yes:: Yes, I think you are right!

Karen - take it from another colossal idiot. We have season tickets to the KC Chiefs, so we are driving over 200 miles each way, usually in bad weather :cold: to see them...well, not necessarily win! It makes for a looonnngg expensive day.

Today we are actually leaving right now for the noon game, then rushing back to town because the Rolling Stones are coming here to our little town, playing at my college football stadium (WSU) at 7pm. This should be interesting, our town is not equipt to handle that size of crowd (37,000). This should be an interesting day. Hopefully this is the day the Chiefs decide to win a game! ;) If not, it will still be fun. We will be tired tomorrow!

Did someone say Partee?

Count me in!

BTW, we are staying BCV before and after! Need to be close to home for all those events at F&W, so that I can stumble, I mean walk home safely! :rotfl: :rotfl:

j
We went to F&W yesterday and it was swamped!!! But, a LOT of the food (& wine of course) looked mighty tasty. We only had a few things because some of the lines were crazy-long and knowing that we were going to be back, I wasn't going to stand in those lines.

I don't recall if we resolved this or not, but earlier there was concern that regular park visitors would be allowed to stay in the park after MNSSHP starts. I wrote Disney about it. I asked the following:

I have tickets for this even for October 26th. I have heard latelythat this may not be as private a party as it was advertised to be,since guests who did not purchase separate MNSSHP tickets will beallowed to stay in the park to view the parade and fireworks. Canyou confirm or dispute this change in policy, since I am concernedthat I paid a separate price for something that other guests aregoing to be able to enjoy for free. Thank you.

This is the response I received:

Dear Samuel,Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort. No, your information is not quite correct. Day Guests will be asked toleave at 7pm and they will not be allowed to stay in the park while theHalloween Party is taking place. If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number ifapplicable on all correspondence.Thank you!Sincerely,Lainie WeidnerWDW Online Communications
I also talked to my mom about this and expressed my complete dissatisfaction and she said basically the same thing. They aren't "closing" the park an hour early and then opening for the party. They are just going to start shuffling out the regular guests at 7pm if they don't have a wristband. So, they won't be allowed to stay.

:welcome: back! Can you believe how chatty "these" people have been while you were gone? :chat: Imagine that? This group having nothing to say! :rotfl2:

Even funnier is that several of us are very shy in person. :chat:

This is probably 50-100% rumor, but a thread on the other DCL forum suggested an October 1st announcement about the next DVC resort to open. Along with the date, someone "in the know" paraphrased a member of the construction team who said this new DVC resort is a pirate-themed resort to be built on the former Discovery Island (the island in the middle of the lake behind the Contemporary). Lastly, the resort is supposed to be a luxury resort, with a very small number of rooms.
(Please don't quote me...I had just finished reading 60+ other posts, so I may have reached "brain freeze" stage by the time I saw the above post.)
If the announcement is made, we'll certainly have something to talk about during Sunday night's chat!

Here's a good place to start. Earlier this year the DVC moderators here on the DIS did a trivia contest with 100 questions. Some of them were about the DIS but most of them were about DVC. Here is the thread with the questions for anyone who wants to test their knowledge:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1071461

And here is a link to the thread with the answers:

Mary...thanks for the links to these two threads! I'll take a look at them on Sunday. Sounds like they will give us a real head start on compiling DVC trivia!

Welcome to the group, beattyfamily!!!

Hmmm, that island is so small, I can't see anything really being built on it. The birds that live there seem to be rather happy with their little home.

I need to ask this question again... with so many posts I know how easy it is to have a question be missed....

THe gift cards ya'll get for the CMs from walmart and such.... do you put like 5 bucks on each or what?

Thanks

So today is one month from the wedding (in date - you know 10/28 vs 9/28) and I posted this on another board but I thought you guys would appreciate it as well as so many of you have helped contribute in many ways to our celebration!

I am just in awe that we get married in 4 weeks and that we leave in 3. This "ride" as I want to call it has been amazing and now that we are in the home stretch I am just in awe...

I'm in awe of how much I love Matt, of how I wondered just 6 years ago this week if I would ever find another person to love again and while it took a "broken road" I did and it's amazing.

I am in awe of how blessed we both are to have parents that are still married and have allowed us to follow our dreams. Both of us moved away from our families yet we are both closely tied to them and its such a wonderful relationship all around.

I am in awe that through the Disneymooners I have made some wonderful, life long friends some of whom will be joining us for the wedding in person, some of whom will be with us in spirit and many of you who will be waiting for those photos and sneek peaks. Many of these friends we know will be in our lives for a long time and both Matt and I look forward to our future trips together - whether they be to Disney or to an island or a villa somewhere!

I am in awe that we were able to negotiate Matt's finals, our families and work schedules to alllow us to sail on the 2006 DVC Member Cruise the Sunday - Thursday before the wedding that will allow us to relax from the pre wedding stress (yes, even though we are organized we are both stressed) and get connected again right before the big festivities. We have made some amazing friends that we are sailing with and we both cannot wait to see them again, hang out, sit on the beach at Castaway Cay (2 times in 4 days) and drink umbrella drinks, go banana boating, take the Eco tour, watch Ducky Williams draw, hear Jodi Benson sing in person and just enjoy the WONDER of it all.

This process seems so long for so many of us, but I have enjoyed it each step of the way and the next 4 weeks are going to be a big party!

We leave Saturday morning to head to North Carolina to see Matt's family for the weekend so I can meet everyone who can't come and celebrate his birthday with all of them.

Next weekend I head to Chicago for a final dress fitting, to hang out with my sister and spend some time with some very very good friends from college who are mostly all coming to the wedding - so awesome.
Oh Julie - that is just SO sweet!!! You're such a great person and you deserve a great partner to share it and I'm glad that you and Matt have each other!!!
