The trivia game sounds like fun.
Kids and eating....I work for WIC (women, infants and children)...you wouldn't believe what I see that passes for breakfast. No really most mothers TRY to provide a decent meal but it's the definition of "decent" that is so different from family to family and culture to culture.
In my house I was always the "bad" guy. When my kids were little..no sugar, no preservatives, no artificial flavors...my house was "clean" so to speak. So DH "saved" them with candy and such when I was away. Around 12 or so my DD said to me.."Mom, you really must have loved us because you didn't give us all the junk and make us fat, Dad did"

YIKES what was I supposed to say to that!!!
Anyway fast forward and my house gradually became less "clean" and more relaxed. As soon as school birthday parties became a part of my kids routines I was less able to control what went in their mouths. As young adults I have one child with a gourmet palate that loves everything and lots of it, not so much candy though but pies(and is very heavy, ds 23yo) and one that is vegetarian, fights her genes constantly and throws half her dessert away or shares it, she loves candy though (dd 20yo, who you'll meet at WDW perhaps when she joins us after the cruise). HOWEVER BOTH my kids know how to read a label.
Whew, that was a LONG story with really no point!
