Email Dr. Mike about this sugar/hyperactivity thing and catch his response in his podcast. This is a very common misconception. :)

In fact, I think all of you moms with kids needs to email him in (or call his skype line) and ask him some questions. He's got tons of subscribers and has had about 1200 downloads in the last 30 days, but not many are emailing in. :(

My brother is a scientist. He told me he read that there is a study that sugar does not cause hyperactivity in kids! All I know is that if my kids have a bunch of sugar in the evening - their morning behavior is out of control!

OK, so we made the trip to the Disney Store last night. The boys of the family each got new baseball caps ($4.99 each!). I found some really cute picture frames for $5.99 too. We were VERY disappointed with their adult t-shirt lack of collection. Not very much to choose from at all. I guess I'll just have to look for my new shirts in Flordida!

We also got a set of luggage that was on sale at JC Penney. It is a 5 piece set - 3 pieces with wheels. We figured we would spend the money for each of the boys to have their own suitcase instead of trying to ship items ahead of time. I hope this work and I hope the boys don't whine about have to take care of their own luggage!

Chris

The trivia game sounds like fun.

Kids and eating....I work for WIC (women, infants and children)...you wouldn't believe what I see that passes for breakfast. No really most mothers TRY to provide a decent meal but it's the definition of "decent" that is so different from family to family and culture to culture.
In my house I was always the "bad" guy. When my kids were little..no sugar, no preservatives, no artificial flavors...my house was "clean" so to speak. So DH "saved" them with candy and such when I was away. Around 12 or so my DD said to me.."Mom, you really must have loved us because you didn't give us all the junk and make us fat, Dad did" :scared: YIKES what was I supposed to say to that!!!
Anyway fast forward and my house gradually became less "clean" and more relaxed. As soon as school birthday parties became a part of my kids routines I was less able to control what went in their mouths. As young adults I have one child with a gourmet palate that loves everything and lots of it, not so much candy though but pies(and is very heavy, ds 23yo) and one that is vegetarian, fights her genes constantly and throws half her dessert away or shares it, she loves candy though (dd 20yo, who you'll meet at WDW perhaps when she joins us after the cruise). HOWEVER BOTH my kids know how to read a label.

Whew, that was a LONG story with really no point!:rotfl2:

Ahhh yes, I know the study. HOWEVER ask ANY teacher about the day after halloween and that study is overruled!

ILENE - do you think we could chat for 40 postings and get the next milestone?
:confused3

I do have a question for experience cruisers? Do you have to buy bottles of water on the ship? Will they let you bring a case of water onboard as part of your luggage?

Chris

Sorry about not posting very many times today.
We watched Illinois beat Michigan State and now watching Notre Dame whip Purdue!
Back to the games!

Yes they do sell bottled water HOWEVER due to the way the ship makes drinking water out of salt water it really is good tasting. We have not found a need to schlep a case of water on board. I am sure they would let you bring it on board if you feel you need to.

You can bring any beverage you want onboard including water. However as Steve said the water on board is really good. We bring sports bottles and fill them up with ice and water on deck 9 and we are set. I believe they also sell a case of water from room service or a cooler of water on Castaway Cay.

Mark did something similar with our litho and pins and we now have it in our bedroom. We actually have two of Ducky's lithos as we also got one on the 10 day cruise. I'm looking forward to what they have planned for us this year even if it isn't a litho.

Now I need to find my Disney Rewards Card and load it up from my Disney Visa. That should take care a meal or two. :rotfl:

Thanks for reminding me, I meant to ask this yesterday. I know this was discussed much earlier in the thread. How do we use the Rewards card on the cruise? If we want to use some of our rewards dollars for the cruise, do we transfer the rewards at cruise end or do we give them the card when we embark?

I believe you have to have something already charged to the room to be able to use it. That being said you can visit guest services at any time and give them the card to put against your account.

My sister is a big water drinker so we always end up buying the water package. A 24 pack of Evain for $30 that is delivered to your stateroom. I tend to buy the cooler bag and 6 bottles of water that is available onboard on port days for excursions. I think I paid around $15 and then I have the cooler bag as a souvenier(sp). I'm a bag-a-holic.

OH good idea, get those reward dollars, I have to also.
