You came OUT???? Back, back {cracks whip}

:( :( :( I have to stay in the water? What are you crazy? Do you know what lives in that water? :crazy2:

A fresh water catfish almost did me in -- imagine what might happen if I saw a real fish.

It's really a good thing that last year when we tried to snorkel it was very murky and we couldn't see anything. I'm not exactly sure what I was thinking, but I know it's not really my cup of tea. :scared:

Just a simple question for the delivery driver stalking ladies (you know who you are) Q: IF YOU WATCH PRO FOOTBALL ON TV ... WHY?

This should be INTERESTING ::yes::

I don't do pro football. I don't do pro sports as a general rule. Sorry, but when you make $3,000,000 and WHINE about how you deserve more, that's NOT the kinda thing that turns me on.

Used to be a big Indians fan, but then they built the new ballpark. I had to remortgage the house just to get food for the family there.

Give me college ball anyday.

:cool1: Cool, forget the buy-it-now option. I'm listing Cameron's chair with an opening bid of $.01. Matt & Karen can have a bidding war and sky rocket the price way up there. I'm sure Cameron would find something to do with the profits. :cool1:

I notice how your advertising it as "Cameron's chair" and not a chair very close to Julia aka "Hands" to get a higher bid. Karen/Matt--whoever wins, just keep an eye on your plate, she may be little but she can pack it in!

Congrats to Mark on getting the challenge right! I'll make sure he gets a Konk Kooler (virgin) for his efforts!

NO. NO. Please let me buy Mark's prize.

One smoothie of his choice of flavors.

Please, let me do this for him. :)

U TOP with Mary and Nick's Smoothie dad!

Awe, poor Nick.

Are they painted ladies? If they have been hatched for a week, it's probably time to let the rest of them go. They have a very short life cycle -- 28 days or so and their job is to go out and lay their eggs and then the adult dies off. Sad, I know.

We were told at Rafiki's Planet that the best thing to feed butterflies is orange gatorade.

Yup, painted ladies. Maybe I should tell that to Nick. That we should let these other two go. At least they'll have a chance to lay eggs on something appropriate. Their death won't be in vain. :)

Thx!!

These butterflies have gotten fresh cuttings of the butterfly bush, cantelope, fresh pineapples, and fresh grapes every day. We tried a little saucer of sugar water, but the dumb things kept falling in!

Julia wasn't a problem for me.

Emily, that's a whole other story. That little chip swiper is fast. ;)

Does this mean you've changed your mind and you are coming with us?

If your going to use liquid, you need to put it in the dish with either a sponge or one of those little scrunchy type thingys (how's that for a technical term :teeth: ) ) so that they can land on it and then drink. They don't know they will drown if it's just liquid as I believe they have to land in order to eat.

Have you see their tongues come out when they eat? Very cool.

The other thing they like are oranges -- just cut it into 1/2 or 1/4 and it makes an automatic place for them to sit and eat.

Did Nick get the chance to see them emerge from the chrysalis?? Very cool to see nature in action.

We do painted ladies every year. :thumbsup2 Did you order through insect lore? In all my years, I've always had each and everyone of them survive the process.

And what team would that be? :lmao:

Well, get this. We went to dinner last week with some of my college friends. One works at ESPN and she comes out once a year for an OSU game (usually the MI game, but this year it'll be too close to the birth of her neice/nephew)

Anyway, the wives of one of my college friends is a big theater person and she LOVED talking to KT about the theater (Nick was actually AT rehearsal)

This woman said that OSU has a lousy theater program (KT's dream college) but that either Northwestern or the "state up north" have GREAT theater programs. KT looked like she would strangle the woman for even SUGGESTING she go "up north" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

but maybe Northwestern....that's up by you guys, no?

Sadly, no. But I have my ways. I'm calling Captain Henry today and I'll get it ALLLLLL arranged. :lmao: :lmao:

Look at Cindy, the butterfly expert! :teacher:

Here's all I can contribute to the butterfly food conversation--but it's a pretty cool picture!

Cool. Thanks! We JUST MISSED them coming out of the chrysalis. It was first thing in the morning and they were all hanging there with their crumpled wings. The really cute thing is, in Nick's play that he's doing there is a whole story line about hatching butterflies. Oh...hope he doesn't break down crying next time they do that scene. :(

Yup. We always get ours from insect lore. We had 5 caterpillars this year. Only 3 hatched but I think that's the cat's fault. 3 had turned into chrysalises, two were up there and hanging. The cat knocked the container off the table and those two fell and had to climb back up. They did become chyrsalises, but they turned black and never hatched. :( That's what happens when you leave something out around here. It was accidentally left on the table for 2 minutes!!!

Congrats to Mark on his quick and correct guess - way to go! :cheer2:

Anyone here remember the gecko I saw in my garden (in Michigan, no less)? Well I have spent the past few days out there trying to coax him into a small container so I can bring him inside for the winter - the little boy down the street wants to take him home as a pet. Question is - anyone know how to catch one of those little buggers -he's quick and always just out of arm's reach. He's living in my garden and goes under the overhang of the house so I'm not sure he'll survive our kind of winters up here.

For all you Michigan and Chicago DISers - a meet date and time has been set up -

One of these days, we're heading back to Key West to go to the butterfly museum and the aquarium. :cool1:
