Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

Today we have some little hints that can improve your stateroom life. Some of which have been covered in discussion - some not.

  1. Bring an over the door shoe hanger - you can use it for shoes, but also for the little things you need like suntan lotion, sun glasses, etc.
  2. If you need to use a curling iron or blow dryer you might want to bring an extension cord as the outlets are not in the best place on the desk for using one.
  3. If you want a little privacy from the kids bring a few clothes pins to keep the privacy curtain closed.
  4. If you have connecting rooms ask your room steward for the small blocks of wood they use to keep the doors open. The block goes in the upper part of the door by the closer and keeps it open. Easy to remove if you want to close them at night.
  5. If you get a sewer smell in your bathroom it is easy to cure yourself by pouring a cup or two of water down the drain behind the toilet (we've never experienced it but have read about the smell on the DIS).
  6. If you have a family that makes it own smells you might want to bring an air freshner for the bathroom.
  7. After you unpack it is easy to store you luggage out of sight under your bed. If you lift the corner of the bed half of it will come up easily to slide the luggage up.
[*]Post-it notes or a small wipe board inside the cabin helps you keep track of other family members.
Hope these help!

These are GREAT tips, Mary!!! We've used almost all of them!! :rotfl2:

Ok I was off the boards for a whole 24 hours. Starting to shake there a little bit.... Hope all had fun in chat. I was tempted to log in with my Treo, but those small screen web browsers are not really all they are cracked up to be.

Well wishes to Diana and crew. Monday will be a trying time. I can't even be in the room when our best friend & vet gives the final shot. My thoughts will be with you.

Well wishes for the nephew injured in the van crash. I once heard that nothing heals faster than a child. More power to him.

Happy thought s for all the DisSers waiting to do the Docs Dance. May the band be with you soon. The Village Smiles were scary though.
Oh and one last thing

We'd love to sign a square for you.

I'm planning on bringing my canvas tote that I ordered from CafePress to have everyone sign. It's something lots of people do at CKU with the totes they give out, get the scrapbooking "celebs" to sign.

See now that's nice idea. How 'bout this one..you know the group photo they take, how about using one of the mats we talked about earlier and having everyone sign the mat for the photo to go into. I think I will do that. I didn't get into having the characters sign it but I think it would be cool to have all of you sign it. The problem is I'd have to carry it around alot...hmmmm

I don't know - I'm kinda shy. :) Ok I'm not shy with this group but just like many of us I'm really shy in person.

Just an added tip to #5! After pouring the water in the drain, place the brush on top of the drain to help keep that odour out!

It's this smell that DD uses as an excuse that she must only travel with a verandah!

Speaking about shyness...OK here's the thing. I feel like if say I see Diana Lyn and go up to her and say "Hi Diana, I'm Ilene nice to meet you" She'll be like um yeah, Hi but not really know who I am. Then I'll feel stupid. So I hope I've made enough of a name for myself here so that when I do get up enough guts to introduce myself that won't happen. Once I get talking to people I'm fine but it's that initial intro that sometimes becomes overwhelming  And it's a little more so because so many of you already know each other and will be all huggy and stuff :goodvibes I hope I can join in on your fun.

:hourglass Time is slipping away! Still have a lot to do! I just found out my work network is down until 7pm tonight so it looks like I can't finish the 2007 budget until tomorrow so I guess Tom and I have the day to ourselves!

Got some sad news yesterday. My best friend who lives in FL called to let me know her ex-husband (my cousin) past away. He died of liver failure. He had a liver transplant 3 years ago and it started failing about 1.5 years ago and unfortunately found out six months ago he wasn't a candidate for another transplant. He is leaving behind two boys (sophomore and senior in high school). They are both taking this very hard. Even though they have had a few months to prepare it's still difficult!

We are all waiting to find out what his new wife is going to do for arrangements. She is thinking about having a service here in MA only so if this happens, my friend and the boys will fly up and stay with Tom and I. His wife said she wants him to be where the rest of his family is buried. It's going to be a crazy week!
