Had fun in chat last night! I forgot to tell you guys - I'm so excited, one of Matt's 2nd cousins (ok the little boy of one of his cousins) sent us a FLAT STANLEY to take around and then send back to the class.

So I know we have a lot of moms and dads here - what are good things the kids like to see Flat Stanley do? How long do we keep him before we return him?

Is the cousin from your area or from another state? If from another state, take him to something really Texas like. I don't know what that would be, because I've never been to Texas! :rotfl2: Or you can always let him take the dog for a walk, go to the park, go to some sort of sporting event, if the cousin is a girl you can take FS shopping for wedding stuff, that would be cute! (I don't think boys are into shopping too much) Make sure you take his pic in the car with his seatbelt on--that is always cute. Keep him about a week and send him on his way--no one likes a houseguest that doesn't leave!

When I got my sisters Flat Stanley I took him apple/pumpkin picking. That's about as exciting as my life gets. I then sent him on to someone my stepmother went to college with who was a producer or something and he got to work on the set of Ally McBeal. It's sad that I was jealous of a paper cutout. :rotfl2:

Thanks Diana - it's a boy cousin and he lives in North Carolina so we'll do something Texas with him. I'm going to see if we can take him to the Stockyards. These guys are so cute - heck his little cousin even addressed our envelop to Matt and Julie (insert new last name) - AWWWWWWWW

Oooh good idea about the seatbelt. Guess I REALLY need to get the camera fixed fast!

Ok what is a Flat Stanley? :confused3
I asked Nick but he doesn't know.

I saw Diana's post on things to do with Stanley. Are you supposed to pass him on or does he go back after you have had him for a little while.

Hey Chicago folks, it looks like we'll definitely be coming next July. I found out that my HS 20th reunion will be the weekend of July 14th. So, it will be at least me, but most likely the whole family, since we still have family and lots of friends there.

:cheer2: Yeah!!! :cheer2:

Spell checking and zinging go both ways dear???:lmao:

The 2nd & 3rd for a few reasons. First, there's a HUGE craft fair every year at the Rosemont Convention Center that I always love to go to, and it's that weekend. My nephew's first birthday is the 9th, but because that's also the weekend of Emily's first Christmas choir concert, we decided to go the weekend before to celebrate.

So, I guess it works out well, if we do come up that weekend, since you'll be out of town the next weekend.

The 2nd is my b-day!!! so thats a great weekend to come up!!:cheer2:

I think Nick might be too old for Stanley. I will post the note that came with him tonight, but basically Flat Stanley (he's a sheet of paper) came to visit us because Spencer could not so the class wants to know what Stanley did while he was here. We do things with Stanley and then send back Stanley along with photos, post cards, etc to the class. I love it!!!

Mt girls did a flat stanley, and took it with them everywhere and kept a short diary of where they went, and what they liked about where they went. We never sent it off to anyone, but I would say like 1-2 weeks. Kids like fun places, but they also like places they have never been. Hope this helps ya!

Well that's pretty cool.
Sounds like your going to have some fun with your "houseguest"!

I think that would be such a fun thing to do!

Well, we might see you there, since ours is at 2:30pm. So, we'll be leaving as you're coming in. Emily just LOVED it the last time we went!!!

Hopefully the girls will enjoy it as much as Emily did...They are dressing up as princesses for MNSSHP, so I thought it would be cute.

Hey Amy, I'm betting you didn't buy the package with the dress last time, so do all the packages include photos or what's the deal?

How come all my posts today are about seatbelts? ::cop:

The Stockyards would be perfect Julie!

Stacy--I think Maddie did Flat Stanley in the 2nd grade, she's about Nick's age so I'm surprised he didn't do it. For her class they had to send him to 5 different places. In hindsight, we should have done a FS for our thread! It would have been a fun way to pass the time.

No, we just buy the basic Coach package that has hair & makeup. There are Photopass photographers there taking their pictures while they are getting made-up. Then, you can bring them over to the "scrapbook" store in Downtown Disney and they have a little photo studio where they take pictures too. Then, those go on your photopass too. Last time, we had combined a WHOLE bunch of pictures from a couple trips on our photopass and we just purchased it on CD for $99. But, you can just buy individual photos too.

That would have been cool.
But who's to say we can't do a Flat Stanley after the cruise to keep the fun going.
This way maybe those that are either not scrapbookers or intimadated to scrapbook can have something like the cj journal to re-live some of the fun after the cruise or something like that.
Now you have me thinking..........not sure if that is a good thing or not! :lmao:
